I think your biggest fail in this is that you used a effect that make sound the cover like shit. You could use something like a string ensemble or synth effect to replace that.

i'm trying to learn this by ear, slow progress but only just started really. do you know the chords behind the melody? it would be a hell of a lot better with the benefit of a proper electric piano sound though (with a touch of overdrive)
