  • Holiday by Green Day is also a 1-6-3-7 song.

  • I love your playing style!

  • It's used a hell of alot, but it is not overused at all.

  • There isn't a progression out there that hasn't been used a thousand times over. I think Hans Zimmer is a genius for being able to mine so many great melodies out of the same harmonic sequence.

  • Truman Sleeps (by Phillip Glass) is actually slightly different: "i - VI - III - V"

The tiny difference really sets it apart, though, and adds a whole new layer of melancholy on top.

  • @vidaroni Actually, they basically all end with a simple root position V chord (the title is incorrect), but "Truman Sleeps" ends with a 1st inversion V chord, with the E-nat in the bass. The change in the voice leading is probably the difference you're hearing.

  • First chord's minor... it's actually "i-VI-III-VII".

  • I was messing around and made a little prog and it sounded really familiar, I reverse found the scale and chord progression and well, looks like its a very overused progression.

  • The Truman Show soundtrack it was not made by Hans Zimmer, it was composed by Phillip Glass nice video :)
