I think that Chris Brown should be given a second chance. My issue isn't with him. What I don't like is that black people especially black women jumped to Chris' defense as soon as they heard about this incident. I have heard WAY more hate for Rihanna in the black community than for Chris. White people are the ones who haven't forgiven him. Most blacks have coddled Chris since this incident.

I agree w/ JuneBug. When I saw him crying, my initial thought was he wasn't gonna be able to hit those high notes in Man in the Mirror so he needed a cover up or counter to that. But after watching it and really letting it marinate, I thought, "what better way to get back in good favor w/ the general public than crying on Live TV during a Michael Jackson tribute." Being that most of his records are bought by women, he showed his "sensitive" side at the most opportune point of that broadcast.
I guess on the scale of Sincere vs Publicity, I tend to tip more to the sincere side. Although, as heartfelt as it was, I agree to an extent that there had to be some measure of planning. If that's a case, then it's definitely helped bring him back from the brink. He's had a series of wake-up calls in the past year that he was virtually blacklisted, and I want to believe that he's learned from that. He's barely 21, he's got ALOT of growing left to do in this industry as well as in general.

I haven't watched TV in approximately 3yrs., but the way u described it, I would have to agree that it was calculating. And this is where mainstream pop music is today, with most of these acts coming out "half-baked" (in my opinion) and without etiquette training.
I would imagine the old-school artists like the many Motown acts, are at home shaking their heads in embarrassment at what they see on TV nowadays. Sure everyone should be forgiven but most people can still see those Rihanna photos.

I think that Chris Brown should be given a second chance. My issue isn't with him. What I don't like is that black people especially black women jumped to Chris' defense as soon as they heard about this incident. I have heard WAY more hate for Rihanna in the black community than for Chris. White people are the ones who haven't forgiven him. Most blacks have coddled Chris since this incident.

I agree w/ JuneBug. When I saw him crying, my initial thought was he wasn't gonna be able to hit those high notes in Man in the Mirror so he needed a cover up or counter to that. I guess on the scale of Sincere vs Publicity, I tend to tip more to the sincere side. Although, as heartfelt as it was, I agree to an extent that there had to be some measure of planning. If that's a case, then it's definitely helped bring him back from the brink. He's had a series of wake-up calls in the past year that he was virtually blacklisted, and I want to believe that he's learned from that. He's barely 21, he's got ALOT of growing left to do in this industry as well as in general.

I am not really a BET watcher because of Debra Lee being a sellout. I was looking forward to see Prince get the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Man In The Mirror is about looking in the mirror and considering what he went through the song should make him rightly emotional. Listen this is how I see it and its something that Chris and I have in Common... I could be wrong and I do understand the business aspect of it but MJ is someone people look up too. That is his IDOL, he did not get to perform at his funeral probally cuz of the negative attention. I have never Met Michael and cried like a baby when I saw everyone pergorming his songs, Man in the mirror is a powerful song and he probally thought about Michael, Rihanna, and other mistakes and just choked up.

But to me, it's just too much evidence for him to be accused of fakin' it than it is for him not to be. All in all though, I still think people should forgive him because everyone makes mistakes and some people have done stuff WAY worse than him and got forgiven for it.

I disagree with my dude JBO for the first time. I don't think it was deliberate. I think the public sentiment people are expressing towards him is just an unintended consequence of something unplanned.
