  • this movie came out in 1994..obviously it isn't going to be made like the movies coming out in 2011. this is a movie that is here to spark a memory for people who watched it when they were younger not to discuss how poorly made it was! enjoy it or gtfo!

  • I'm 16 and love this movie very much, even till I'm 50 or 100 and when I look back I'll think, "What has Hollywood come to?"

  • @sweetiegrl41 The problem is that this was, at the time, "what hollywood had come to".

If you noticed, it's not exactly being subtle about the whole pro-green agenda. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but they've certainly a long way in not forcing any one person's dogma onto kids these days. That, and they've stopped loading kid's movies with really poorly-written songs which essentially describe the action going on at any given moment.

    "Dream a dream!" etc.

  • hey bethlehemfilms17 you are a retard hehe

  • Geeeeez! How big is this place?

  • This movie is okay, but I love the 'Welcome" song!

  • This movie is...kind of gay. It feels like a retarded parody of a kids movie.

  • @BethlehemFilms17

Ja if the only didn't put in that half mongol girl and the flowers.

  • @BethlehemFilms17 i see you never had a childhood... stop dissing the movie so those who actually appreciate the movie can enjoy it. plus, no one is forcing you to watch it. if you dont like it, leave.

  • Why is it that all the movies I seem to enjoy are all movies with poor ratings? I always seem to love the underdogs it seems.

  • Damn! That boy has some emotional problems!

  • May Dom Deluise rest in peace.

  • All I wanted when I was four was to watch this movie. What the hell was wrong with me?

  • its been what, a decade and a half sense i seen this movie.

  • You know, it's all well and good to draw a cutsie little troll family... But when you're a hormone driven teen, all you realize is that that means those creepy trolls have sex. D:

I'm not really sure what to make of Stanley. I mean, I get it, kid's movie. But is he supposed to be an adult? A child? Why does he immediately latch on to a toddler emotionally? Why does he react the way he does when she kisses his nose? I mean, this is one thing when you're a kid. As a teen, you see it differently.

  • the flowers the kids sleep on are poppies lol they are drugged

  • ...boys .hahahahaha

  • She said crush central park !! she destroyed the twin towers !!! :'(

  • this song i used to sing when i was little. plus the movie is still one of my favourites even though its for little kids.

  • @OwlGirl144 me too,so glad I found this here

  • the boats of 0;35 reminds me of mj song the lost children

  • This movie is so cute it's stupid!

  • k wtf is up with the little boys hair?? the top is like a different color?? why??

  • Wind wind

    Howl in the dark

    and trash the place called

    JERSEY SHORE

  • my favourite childhood movie :) I remember when I saw the commerical for the first time I thought they said A Troll in Central Fart so I called it that for the longest time.

  • Why cant Gnorga leave Stanley alone? If she did we wouldnt have this movie! Just let him be in central park and move on with life Gnorga! Why am I talking to someone that doesnt exist? Eh I'm just a little crazy! Wait no you dont understand! I was just kidding! No stay back! No no NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooo . . .

  • I feel so bad for the dog, it goes through so much abuse.

  • 1:01 disney castle...?

  • How did the wagon get on the opposite side of the river?

  • 0:09-0:13 Why are they moving so much slower than the water?

  • Why they hell is he always accompanied by an unseen children's choir EVERY time he sings? Dom DeLuise isn't a bad singer, and it's just damned annoying.

  • Man I Love This Song. So damn nostalgic!

  • god first rip off on ferngully, then disney land leave those places alone you f***in hobit!!

  • @rockinamber18 you do know the guy who directed this film is the same director as Ferngully, also he used to work for Disney

  • Wind, Wind Howl in the Dark. And trash that place called DISNEYLAND!

  • People, if you don't like it, no one is forcing you to watch it. Please respect that there are others who DO enjoy this movie!

  • man if i were those kids parents i'd fire their babysitter. i mean jesus how long have they been gone?

  • Sorry, Rosie. Time to say goodbye to your boyfriend.

  • Why do I see the film ending with "I always depend on the kindness of strangers?"

  • ok seriously ppl, if your an adult and saying crap that you dont lik about it. then just dont watch it. its a childs movie get over yourself if your really goin around commenting on childrens movies then you seriously dont have a life. leave it alone its not uir movie it wasnt made for just you if you dont like it thendealk with it anf forget about it

  • @srrobinson909 Just because it's for children doesn't mean it's exempt from criticism. And besides, if you're going around watching childrens' movies trying to censor opinions, doesn't that mean you have even less of a life than the rest of us?

  • @seventhsheaven i am 14 thank u very much and its lik 10 years old yall shulda ctiticize it then there is absolutly no point now

  • @srrobinson909 You're absolutely right. Let's take all copies of Shakespeare, Dickins and Austen out of our schools and replace them with Twilight, as they're so old there's absolutely no point in criticising them. Let's no longer criticise the Nazi regime, or Mao's dictatorship in China. It happened ages ago! What's the point? I hope you remember this when your friends ask your opinion on something that wasn't made within the last two years, and chastise them for making pointless conversation.

  • @seventhsheaven ok u dont get wat im sayin wat im tryin to say is if you dont like something like this then dont watch it read it listen to it or whatever.. it is a small movie that 75% of the world doesnt know about. i wasnt sayin rplace ppl like shakespear i was sayin just leav it alone its a childs movie thaty some ppl likand old movie that most people dont know about. and y should ppl still complain about things that didnt even happen in their time.. its stupid and a waste of time let it go

  • @srrobinson909 But this was the first time I'd ever seen the movie, so 'don't like, don't watch' didn't really apply as I had no idea what it'd be like. I remembered seeing a commercial for it on my VHS tape of Thumbelina as a kid, and as an adult decided to view it.

Sometimes people are going to criticise something that others like. Maybe it seems pointless, but it prevents us from having Miley Cyrus CDs upheld as the epitome of music, and Twilight as the standard that all books should aim at.

  • @seventhsheaven seriously nobody cares if u dont lik a movie that most ppl dont know about and i dont listen to miley cyrus and i dont like the twilight movies so wats the point of bringin that up?? and its stu[id that ur arguing wit me over this im srry u didnt get 2 c this when u were a child but thats not MY fault i was makin a point sayin that ppl need to stop wastin there time lookin up videos sayin they dont like them and tellin the ENTIRE world its jus stupid and pointless

  • @srrobinson909 Boy you really don't get this at all, do you? I'm not saying you like those things. I'm saying that if people aren't allowed to criticise and have opinions then those are the sort of things we're left with - mindless trash. I don't care if you like this movie or not. My problem is that you're saying people shouldn't say anything bad about it because it's a.) old and b.) a kid's movie. Why does it bother you? Why do you want to censor people's opinions just because you don't agree?

  • @seventhsheaven i dont have a problem im jus sayin there is absolutly no point in it if u dont like it deal wit it so wat if they made it its jus a movie get over it its 10 frakin years old its in the past jus let it go ppl could be doin better things that sitten here critisizin childrens moviesi mean there r ppl dieing all over this world cuz of cancer starvation and all kinds of diseases and u have to sit and complain about a movie that u were not forced to watch just let it go

  • @srrobinson909 But my point is, who made you queen of the whole damn world? If someone wants to criticise the movie, it's their choice. Maybe people enjoy doing this - maybe it's their thing. Maybe they don't WANT to go bowling or ice skating or whatever constitutes 'a life'. Why are the people who like it any different? Why is liking it okay? And I don't know what people dying of cancer has to do with this. People are dying everywhere whether I watch this movie or not. What's your point?

  • @seventhsheaven my point is is that there r ppl all over thsi world in pain there is a war there r ppl diein of drugs and all u wanna do is complain about a movie big whoop so wat if u dont lik it nobody cares its stupid its a freakin movie deal wit it stop complainin its a movie leave it alone there r ppl who can complain about food or ppl but u have to take advantage of it and complain about a movie thats 10 freakin years old let it go

  • @srrobinson909 I'm just gonna hope that your stupidity is caused by your age and not any issues with your brain. You've repeated the same illogical, nonsensical drivel since your first post. You carry on telling people how to think, and I'll carry on with my life (yes, startlingly enough, I do have one).

I hope one day you'll accept that not everyone has the same value system, and that what may seem like pointless complaining to you is merely someone exercising their right to criticise.

  • @seventhsheaven well wopdeedo u can hate a movie nobody gives a crap and im not stupid thank u very much u dont know me u didnt have to watch this movie nobody forced u to there is no point in complainin its stupid its just a movie big whoop u know how to type a complaint lets throw a party its a frakin movie just leVe it alone my point is let ot go there is no snese in complaining its a waste of time jus cuz u dont lik it doesnt mean no1 else can and same goes for me but just leave it alone

  • Ooooh I bet Disney had a hissy fit over the image at 1:01

  • At 6:07, is Gnorga sitting next to a bucket of fried chicken?

  • Reminds me of MJ's song "Childhood"

  • Why doesn't Gnorga just leave Stanley alone, even if he's not one of those mean kind of trolls! She already sent him to a faraway place, so what more does she want????!!! I know Don Bluth had to think of an evil villain with a plot, but still...

  • @SegaGenesisFan115 Well in a later scene they establish that the other trolls are no longer taking her seriously as a ruler since she failed to kill Stanley.

  • wow this is a good movie Thankz whyboy12

  • To everyone screaming, "Oh, it's a kids movie! Stop picking on it!" You want to know what else is a kids movie? Toy Story 3, How To Train Your Dragon, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Where The Wild Things Are, Up, The Secret Of Kells, and Coraline.

Just because something is made for kids doesn't mean it has to be dumb and poorly made.

  • @ebertfan92 HERE HERE!!!

  • @ebertfan92 That's what my brother thinks! :(

  • This song makes "It's A Small World After All" sound like fucking Van Halen!

  • Why are people hating on this film so much

    its a children's movie, which I loved...

as children we see movies and we dont care about plots and stuff because were just happy. As adults we should learn to not care so much damn

  • @atlbabylife I see your point but I'm pretty sure this never appealed to me as a kid. I'll take my Land Before Time and classic Disney films, please!

  • Stanley's look is kinda like the seven dwarfs. His nose is like Bashful's, his pants is like Happy's, his body is like Doc's, he evan got wiggliy big ears like Dopey.

  • you know, this kind of stuff its used as psyco weapon on CIA interrogatories and in Guantanamo as well >=3.

No, really... if you dont believe just try tie one of your friends to a chair, dont let him sleep for 3 days, and finally put this tape on the TV... and done!... you'll have a brainless zombie servant in no time XD

  • my family and i went to nyc and to all those places

  • Should've rented Iron Giant

  • If Stanley had the magic to dream up this fantastic utopia place, why did he live in the Troll world?!?

  • 0:00- 0:26 when I saw the NC review I laughed at this with the combination of the Critic's commentary to this, it was like stanley personally messed with the critic

  • This has no conflict, no driving urge to compel the story. Stanley has nothing to fight for or to change in his life because he's already -gotten- what he wants. The children act as a plot device to introduce some shade of conflict, but they are for all intents and purposes, simply a sub plot. The fact that Gnorga poses any sort of threat to the characters is meaningless because she is trapped in the cliche co-dependant relationship with her minions and her ineffectual magic and battle schemes.

  • With this in mind, however, this is not a story. A children's movie does not need to be meandering or mindless. A lot of the Disney movies and their knockoffs had plots, however cliche or archetypal some where but they introduced the conflict within the first ten minutes, and slowly built upon it until it shifted.

  • People are entitled to their opinions so long as they don't insult or impinge on others. The merits this movie gives is that it's decently animated and has beautiful instrumental scores. It shows that Don Bluth's technique is not waning, and it's hard doing some of these colorful fade techniques like in 1:09.

  • I'm only watching this cuz the Nostalgia Critic's gonna review it, and boy, this review'll write itself.... I mean, I can imagine the jokes NOW.

I mean, this ENTIRE MOVIE is a Big Lipped Alligator Moment.

  • @ sexpancake - I agree. I don't see why people have to b**** so much. If they don't like the movie, then don't watch it - besides, it IS a kid's movie. It's not meant for older audiences. -_-

  • @Ainurah thats is wat im tryin to say and i totally agree wit both of u and the ppl who hate on it probably dont have lives so they make up there time doin this :))

  • Stanely's "Dream" is driving me mad...Namely because I used to imagine that kind've stuff as a kid...

  • The villain going for Stanley, and she passes by the Twin Towers when she first arrives...9/11 MUCH?!

  • At this point I'm convinced that the troll drugged the kids, LOL.

  • Kay, for all of you asshole's:

This movie's point is to show children what it means to be a good person. It's not so much as a plot as a moral, something that a lot of people lack.

Also, it' a children's movie. You should be glad it doesn't have the same old plot as every other movie out there.

  • @Sexpancake that doesn't mean I have to like it.

  • notice the twin towers at 7:50.....whenever i watch a movie(animated or not) and the twin towers are shown, it reminds me that things change over time.

  • @randomkath92091 me too I notice it. It's sad that the twin towers is gone. =(

  • @MegaSuperMarioCDS248 yeah it is :( but the good thing is that every American after that day banded together as one united country. (it made us stronger and more determined to put an end to terrorism) i think it also affected other countries as well...to see the Americans go through something like that as a country.

  • @randomkath92091 it affected other countries in the way that way too many innocent people have died as a result of your "war" against other countries.

And the racism against muslims and middle easterners is stronger than ever.

September 11th didn't bring anything positive to the world.

  • @Azizish1 i agree that it didnt bring anything positive in the world. hatred and discrimination will only hold us back as human beings. i dont know where you got it was MY war though lol this is a war against TERRORISM.(not the citizens) i do NOT hate muslims or middle easterners. it is stupid to hold an entire nation responsible for what a couple of EXTREMISTS (aka Terrorists) have done to my people. hate only begats hate. we are all humans and we all deserve to live in peace and harmony. :)

  • @Azizish1 to elaborate on what i was saying in my previous comment: it didnt bring anything positive meaning the ACT itself did not bring anything positive. the terrorists(in their own sick way of thinking) intended it to be an act of "good" in the name of Allah. however, we all know it was NOT an act of good or anything remotely like it. BUT the RESULT of the attack on 9/11 did bring positivity to the world. you just have to look for it ;)

  • I loved this movie when I was a kid! I'm so happy to have found all of the parts to it on here!!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. :)

    I love watching childhood favorites.

  • I'm so glad the critic is going to feature this. I mean, come on!! It's FORTY MINUTES into the movie and NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. Is the plot taking a holiday or what?

  • @seventhsheaven It's for little kids, dumb fuck. I don't think your bitch ass gave a fuck about plot when you were 5.

  • @guitarguy333 Why so defensive? It IS just a kid's movie, after all. And funnily enough, a lot of people who saw this as a kid didn't like it even back then. Just because it's for chilren doesn't mean it shouldn't have standards. The best kids movies can be watched by adults, too. So don't call me a dumb fuck just because you're an easily-pleased cunt. My point still stands.

  • @seventhsheaven this movie singlehandedly brought Don Bluth (Secret of Nimh, An American Tail, The Land Before Time) to his lowset point. and if no one cared about plots in animated films, they would probably be burning down Pixar Animation Studios.

  • @guitarguy333

Not true. I never could watch this movie all the way through as a kid. I hated it. I still think it should have and could have been done a lot better. I don't know what Don Bluth was thinking when this was made.

  • @seventhsheaven I think this movie was specifically made for children from babies to toddlers, so it doesn't really need to have any logic or thought. So it's best not to question the logic or plot, because I mean COME ON! it's a kids movie.

  • You know, the Nostalgia Critic is going to review this next month. And I can't WAIT! I expect that his review will attract more attention to the movie, and thus my videos (and yours too!)

  • @molemanninethousand That is exactly why I made my first review about A Troll in Central Park.
