  • Great cover from a great lady that s just my cup of tea..

  • DAMN WHAT UGLY HAIR!

  • The ladies are really great, and then there's the Fendermen!!

  • That hair....I just don't believe that hair!

  • I love her hair

  • I don't know her but I love her!

  • Love that whistle by Karen;if I was a mule I'd dig in...........lol.Nice job,thanks.

  • In the old days if you were taking care of a mule and it got killed or couldn't be controlled, you would end up skinning and butchering the animal. Specially if it were your fault. Leather was difficult to come by. No one wasted hides. Even when they wiped out the Buffalo, they saved every hide.

  • @healthychickenalmana that's not what mule skinner means! Mule skinners would walk by the mules as the made the roads, making sure they stayed in straight lines. "Skinner" refers to the fact that they had whips to "skin" the mules hide with....right? Oh well, at least that's what my grandad told me

  • My grandparents used to wear this record out, i love dolly but, karens version is the best in my opinion.

  • I was GLUED to the TV in the 1960's, with my GIBSON ES-330 in my lap. Watching the Players and Learning the Licks! I REMEMBER seeing this, on Little Rock CH. 11, Porter Wagoner, That's BUCK TRENT with the E-LICKTRICK BANJO! Oh Gosh, ONEY WHEELER, WAYNE RANEY, in in BENTON ARK. I was Lead Guitar for "Johnny Wheeler" and "Billy Benson" at our local Jamboree, on SOUTH street.

"I saw Mama with GOD last night" by ONEY still makes me Weep!

  • this is my great aunt

  • man hair

  • for you yanks that don't know, a muleskinner is somebody who breaks in & trains mules for field plowin', they're a lil' stubborn, not like plow horses, but cheaper to buy than a good plow horse, hard to find a good muleskinner these days, tractors done took over

  • my uncle was a muleskinner, & a dang fine huntin' dog trainer

  • yes, knox county is in southeast, rural area of kentucky

  • freaky hair back in the days ^^

  • nice, in kentucky we say "get er' did", lol, & she done did it

  • @knoxcountykyman1 is knox county in easter ky?

  • @fmxperson yes it is, rural kentucky, east of corbin , about 45-50 minutes

  • @knoxcountykyman1 dang. I live in western Ky in Christian Co.

  • @fmxperson christian county is a nice area, been there, did a lil' fishin' there years ago

  • shes awesome, i love Dolly.. she is my fav... but this Lady can bring it on!

  • very, very, very, good, the way it should be done

  • Gotta love that 60's hair-do, It sure wouldn't bugde in a wind storm LOL :-)

  • Great singer and song a real treat to see her live ..5********..

  • Loved it! - don't break that hair now - the sixties ... yeah .. take back there whenever you are ready ... Thanks for posting

  • Karen Wheeler is my aunt she has a facebook to

  • Karen Wheeler is my aunt

  • She's pretty good, but I like Dolly Parton one more because she yodels longer lol

  • Great Whistle!

  • Never heard of her before. Okay country singer.

  • Vocals are good, but the yodel isn't her strong point. I do like her voice, just not the yodel.

  • this doesn't hold a candle to Rose Maddox

  • Thank god Dolly redid it...lol

  • She's lip-synching!

  • Wonder what she looks like now. Great voice and look...

  • 1966....Well let's see. I was in my momma's belly just floatin around. So why is It have this weird attraction to beehive hairdo's, clothing that looks like the Brady Bunch and anything in general from 1965 to 1970? When the B-52's came along all I could think was "Dear God finally there is someone else on this earth that is as messed up as I am" It's a wonder I don't have some strange fetish envolving shag rug rakes. Does anyone remember them? LOL!!!

  • I like this song. Can you imagine Carrie Underwood or Kelly Pickler or any of the new gals in 'country' music, singing this song? As far as the hair goes, it's nothing to laugh about. It was just the style at the time. I'm sure some of today's hair styles will be made fun of someday, especially the men's hairdo that is peaked up in the middle like women used to do their babies years ago..you know, kinda like the Gerber baby...bleh

  • @makemineclassic man i agree with all you said , specially the mens hair style looks like they fell asleep standing in the corner of a room ugh!

all in all not a bad rendition of mule skinner blues

  • I'm guessing two cans of hair spray, what do you think?...but she's good....

  • Luckly, god still makes em like this. I married one. She's can tooth wistle better too

  • 1:12

I am a sucker for a woman who can tooth whistle...

  • Cute smile ; )

  • I loved that just great 5******..

  • The clip is worth watching for her hair alone.

  • Karen is the real deal........debate the Dolly thing all you want.

  • @mulc242 Yep...That's why her name is Karen Wheeler and dolly pardon is Dolly! Why people have to compare and judge so much...This woman could flat GET HER DONE!

  • i disagree i like her yodeling was fantastic. She isnt a dolly parton but her voice is fantastic. I prefer this version more but thats just my opinion

  • Yep, I agree with your opinion.

  • I agree with that as well perfect spot on 5******..

  • @InuKag44444 agree with you.

  • I loved Dolly's better but Karen was fabulous. (Dolly's yodeling is better!)

  • she is certainly No Dolly Parton.

  • +Why goes it matter she is not like Dolly ..

  • I LOVE DOLLY PARTON but...I heard this song first from Karen Wheeler and to me she does it better than Dolly. Soory, and Karen did the whistle herself and Dolly didn't..

  • Nice job!

  • I think you do this very good, as good as any IMHO!

  • Dolly is great, but her version of THIS particular song is far better, in my humble opinion.

  • Ya' just can't touch Dolly Parton...No One Can!!!

  • she is good and it sounds beautiful but i prefer dolly parton singin this song...

  • this is great x

  • I love this song!!! she's great!!!

  • That's the stuff alright. Yes ma'am, the real Tobasco.

  • Oh mama!

  • Not bad. Ramblin' Jack Elliot did it better.

  • She is the best that I have heard on this song. If anyone knows what happened to Karen, please share it with me. She was really great and I enjoyed listening to the only songs on You Tube that I know of - "Muleskinner Blues" & Johnny Ray's "Cry."

  • Karen is still around singing - saw her on th emidnight jamboree her ein nashville several months ago and she performed at the Wilson County Fair outside fo Nashville. She does that song great - even better today - I was in shock as she belted it out.

  • Dolly Parton is the Best.

  • WOW, what a version and sung Brilliantly by this 'Hot' looking Woman.

  • I usually associate this song with Dolly Parton but this lady sings it brilliantly too.

    Thanks for this clip!

  • At first glance she looks like Dolly, and sounds something simillar.

  • She's great! Fantastic. Love her.

  • Loved IT!!! You go girl!
