Sam's got a great voice but don't think he captured the emotion of this song; it's a sad song and this version sort of turns it into a dance party at the end. Liked how it started out though but yes, too many flourishes at the end.

How tall are both Sam and his producer Kurt Schneider? They are both about the same height. I estimate 5'5. Sam has a proportionately large head and neck in relation to his height, so he looks about average height when he's sitting down.

Far too many flourishes. He does it with all his songs, and it honestly kills the meaning he is personally trying to convey. Emotion isn't all about flourishes, it's about coming from the heart.

Sam Tsui sang this song beautifully, but I didn't get the same emotions of the original.

BNL wrote a song about the constrictions of gender roles and the limitations they place on us. In Steven's version, the listener feels that he is nearly defeated by those expectations and he doesn't think he can resist them even though he knows they are wrong.

Sam does too many flourishes to capture that sense of helpless defeat, though I'm glad they covered it, because not enough people have heard it. :)

Sam Tsui and Steven Page have two different styles. In fact, Sam is very emotional in this piece. I do agree that he did overdramatize a few parts, but I think it sounded absolutely beautiful. All of the guys did such a great job. They deserved the first place ranking they won.

Yeah he's definitely good at singing, but where's the raw emotion? Not every part of every word should have a trill in it... they are stylistically added for emphasis but not the basis of a song. But I guess that's what young people today do.

@ZeonMagna I'm assuming by "trills" you mean riffs. In my opinion, Sam has beautiful riffs and he doesn't over do it. And if you mean vibrato...I have the same opinion about that. He is not the typical "young person today" stereotype. Almost every performance of his has really touched me. I feel like he makes an amazing connection to the audience. I can feel the emotion, especially at the end. Have you listened to the peformance all the way through?

I can't deny the talent of these guys. They are highly skilled performers, and whoever does their arrangements (whether group members or someone else) is also highly talented. that being said, I think that they lose the character of the song in this version: It has lost some of the bitter-sweetness that I find so touching. Nevertheless, well done.

I've seen some of Sam's other performances, but this is incredible. Such a strong solo voice and really great control. I doubt there's many professional musicians out there that could perform live as well as Sam can.

Excellent backing group as well - can't overlook the backbone of the whole operation.
