Movie was not very bad, but after seeing the original I really cant say that 2008 is a remake. There are so much diferences. The main message is changed (in my oppinion its good, becouse it talks about saving Earth), the characters are changed (I hated that little annoying kid), the story is changed too, and damn it they changed Gort (it looks good, but damn why you need it to make him 10 m in high)?

In conclusion the original is way better, but you should check out remake too. Its pretty fun.

What many people may mistake about this movie is that it is(as far as I can tell) a sequal to the original. In the original he talks about destroying earth. He says that if we do not stop our ways he will return and destroy us all. This movie is about him returning and keeping that promise. This realization makes the movie better becuase you really can't relate it as much to the original. Hope you found this helpful.

We wage war for land, for people, for honor, and stuff. I find it so funny on how he is so ready to destroy us all. Wait save the animals...What! They Slaughter each other for survival. My opinion on the film is so opposite the critics. I liked the acting...it was the STORYLINE I didn't like. I know that the original film was made during in the 1950s, when the whole "humanity redeems itself" idea WASN'T cliche, but for the 2000s, it's boring as shit & WAY over-done. 10 out of 10 for that review, so so honest and CORRECT, with you all the way. After 20 minutes I couldnt wait for the middle, then the end. Dam, the film took an hour to finish the beginning, middles to the 80 minute mark, then died (like Reeves acting ability did 10 years ago) about 7 minutes later. This could have been the one film to change a lot of people but, sorry, I was left wondering where my last 95 minutes went. Why does Hollywood waste cash in film then spend $35 on the end? 3/10!
