ASIA, like many bands of the '70's and '80's is the best quality and style of music ever. Thus, it is copied over and over and most recently by tween age 'artists'(what a joke!). More importantly, if you are posting a comment pro or con, lay off the drugs and booze and proof read your response whether positive or negative, can't believe how dumb most of you sound....would like our kids to think we went to school and did ok???.....make our generation proud will ya'?
you gotta admit though, Geoff Downes looks like he's enjoying the acting and I think he did a swell job...honestly, they could have had a much better video, but that woman has my eyes... it was wierd to see that (except my right eye looks like the pupil leaked out a little underneath)!
I do too Gal. I may havewposted to much lately. Why the hate I love the 60's 70's and 80's my ears hurt so much with 00 gens. I made my peace thank you.
I think that their videos from the previous album (Heat of the Moment and Only Time Will Tell) far more intelligent than this expensive Indiana Jones ripoff. Anyway, the song rocks!
My god i remember this song and, i hear it now and here influences of Marillion ( intro ) Flock of Seagulls and some of the vocals are REO Speedwagonish.
Though this vid doesn't matched the music in a great way, but i still thrilled of this supergroup as with this stuff don't cry they can bring a lot of the spirit of the 80's come to life!! Please try to displace the vid with the bring me to life lineage2 vid. It so much more match this great music!!!
God, I remember when this video 1st came out! There was hype leading up to it on MTV...."Don't touch that dial, coming up, the debut of ASIA's new video!!!, bla bla bla" I like that song & the video is cool because it has a Indian Jones/Romancing the Stone thing going on in it. Although I wonder if this guy is stalking the girl, seeing as how she kicks him off a cliff in the end, hahaha! Take a hint buddy. She don't want you!
sanaconda23, if you look at the original album covers you will find that Asia was very much into the pyramids and mythical realm. i agree the pics do not match the words. remember videos were something new back then.
Asia is always underrated..John Wetton was a great voice..Geoff Downes an amazing writer/musician.I like their less known stuff.."in my own time" is amazing
I did the same with my Night Ranger tape, same year. I think the album name was "Still Rock in America", or at least that was one of the tracks. I forgot all about this Asia song until I saw it on VH1 Classic, and then, after not hearing it for 24 years, I could sing along with it. Song will stick in your head big time if you don't watch out. Cheers.
I just got back from the show tonight at the Gibson in California. They played the Buggles AND King Crimson. They were great. So was YES. Awesome show.
Asia created a new genre of music....Progressive Pop. They were the first! Don't miss them in concert this summer with Yes in the states. Asia reunited in 2006 and are better now than ever! Don't miss them!
Yea, the late 80's glam rock was much worse, but the late 70's so called "arena" rock was only marginally better. I'd rather listen to the late 70's stuff though.

Back in the day, MTV's policy required that songs had to be good but the videos had to suck. So groups had to do stupid videos in order to get air time.

Unless of course you like Prince, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Footloose, Irene Cara, Tina Turner, etc. which I do not. As I said before, there was some great stuff out but Mtv, Radio, SOlid Gold and American Bandstand was totally wall to wall with that mid 80s pop mush that I do not prefer. By 1984 or 1985 the shit storm of bad music had just about completely took over.
There was alot of bad stuff that was getting big at this time and this and a few others were lights in the darkness. Asia, Def Leppard, Tony Carey, and Men At Work was some of the better stuff at this time. Mtv played this one alot I remember.
the music videos are alot better in this area of the 1980's alot of them didnit have big budgets to do there video or alot time to make the video.sure some of the 80's may not perfect.micheal jackson had a huge budget to do thriller.wont some of the todays artist spend 600 or 650 on a music video and see what it looks like.

i would have loved to been in a band in the 80s and made a dumb ass video. would have been a rite laugh. i would have been shit faced drunk. i think you would need to b
The production hasn't stood up well over time, but this band's musical arrangements remain beautifully interesting to me. And sigh...this video and song just remind me of the preciousness of what is lost in music today. I remember this used to be on MTV all the time!
Problem is, the bands of today don't try to compete with songs like this cause they know damn well they don't hold a fucking candle to this kind of good music! So instead, they do crappy remakes of these classic songs, thinking people will actually give a shit and go out & buy their albums! The only thing they do successfully is prove how much they actually SUCK! Fall Out Boy doing a lousy remake of Michael Jackson's 'Beat It' is a good example of this!
this is one of those heart wrenching songs you remeber from when you were a kid in the 80s, man i miss my members only jacket cruising in our trans ams and fieros, ah the women were so hot, not tattoed muffin tops that waddle down the street like today, they may have been party girls for the most part but deep down they were good girls and made great wives and mothers, thank God I married a 80s girl, and she can still pack a pair of levis
I was born at the end of 80's, and I regret cuz i wasn't born 15 years earlier :( ... I missed all the god stuff before they disappeared. Now there's only crap, and bigger crap:(
This band holds so many memories for me, from my first g/f Lisa to my solo trip to England at 16 to see my best friend who moved out there. Man how I miss the 80's they semed so much simpler then.
Amen! This was one of the songs that symbolized the glory days of MTV, which sadly has now transformed into a festering gob of reality TV bullshit!
This is some KICK ASS audio btw! I'm watching this clip and listening to it in surround sound right now! I'm in 80's heaven again!!! :) THANK YOU, lexus!
I LOVED MTV in the 80's. The 80's to me was rock's attempt to over come it's hangover from disco. There were so many great bands back then and so many different styles. Now all there is is reality crap on MTV...a bunch of disfunctional idiots.
I like that i can come here to catch the videos for Asia's songs, plus alot of the other bands from the 80's. Also would love to know who the blonde is in this video WOW!!!
Reminds me of an old girlfriend. Can you say coo coo bird!

Why can't the bands of today listen to songs like this and try their best to compete!!
LivewireViper 3 years ago

I know how you feel deusns. I wish I lived through the 70's and 80's. I was born in 91 so like you missed out on the cool stuff.
Look at the crap we have now... emo, emo more emo... rap, hip hop and more hip hop.
BlackSabbathmad 3 years ago 3
Are you seriously saying in the 80's there was no hip-hop--or that it's a totally new thing at the moment?
GarsinX 3 years ago

This band holds so many memories for me, from my first g/f Lisa to my solo trip to England at 16 to see my best friend who moved out there. Man how I miss the 80's they semed so much simpler then.
Thanks for the post!

Amen! This was one of the songs that symbolized the glory days of MTV, which sadly has now transformed into a festering gob of reality TV bullshit!
This is some KICK ASS audio btw! I'm watching this clip and listening to it in surround sound right now! I'm in 80's heaven again!!! :) THANK YOU, lexus!
wyldchyld76 3 years ago 3
I LOVED MTV in the 80's. The 80's to me was rock's attempt to over come it's hangover from disco. There were so many great bands back then and so many different styles. Now all there is is reality crap on MTV...a bunch of disfunctional idiots.

I like that i can come here to catch the videos for Asia's songs, plus alot of the other bands from the 80's. Also would love to know who the blonde is in this video WOW!!!
