@Templayer Completely, DK2 didn't really improve anything gameplay-wise. It didn't have the charm of the first game and better graphics don't always make a game better. Besides, the graphics were tacky. Although it's not a bad game either of course. Still, nothing beats the original.

You're probably right, I remeber from childhood that they were many more monsters in DK 1 than in DK2, and that always in DK2 pissed me off. I remember the Tentacle, samurai, the cockroach (or what ever that was :D ), the Spider and such - they were absolutely great. Gameplay wise - I didn't like the gameplay of DK1, because I would easilly lost myself in my own dungeon, so i prefer the visual style of DK2 and its mechanics. The Elite creatues in DK2 with newest patch are good too.

Like the Fallen Angel (red wings), the completely naked Mistress, the CHaos Vampire (purple robes and looks different), I forget what the black knights version of elite is. The monsters in DK1 were more INHUMAN (even the Sorcerer and mistress looked like they aren't humans at all in DK1), with the many creatures like the Bettle (NOW I REMEMBER !) - I absolutely loved that. and the Horned Reaper as creatures. The best of them all probably killed the others, thus being the DK2 reaper.

@Parkerkun I disagree! All the extra detail in DK2 made it the superior game for me. Things like, the prison is actually a prison, the traps being cooler, having to be more tactical with your monsters, more "realistic" heroes (although I miss the Barbarian, the Dwarf warrior and the old Lord of the Land-model :P) and cooler spells. Oh, and ofc the Casino ;) Seriously, my DK1 Dragons were schlepping around so much gold that I kept wondering why they still insisted on drawing wages!

DK1 indeed is cooler than DK2. DK1 is darker and more serious. DK2 is a bit funny. However, the gameplay is improved in DK2. For example lightning bolt cannot be cast on enemy land. It was ridiculous in DK1 multiplayer games. They are both very good games however and I would like to see DK3 some day.

As a person who owned both as a kid, and replayed them recently an adult, DK1 has aged terribly, and is very clunky, and while DK2 has some crashing and other strange issues on modern systems, it's still a better designed and a better game by a wide margin, even if you were to claim it adds nothing to DK1, which is a completely stupid claim in and of itself. It improved on almost everything, and streamlined the game by a lot, not to mention, added this song.

I noticed very rare thing on DK II: a message pop's up saying "lets party lik it's 1999" then this song is played. Everyone, enemies your minions and even imps stops to do what they been doing and dances till song ends, then they get back to fightin', digin', playin' black jack xD. Only saw it two times, but lol it look's hilarious.

Yeah, DK1 + DK2 were extremely original games with durable gameplay... Even now, after many years, i find something rather amusing, like the Elite monsters, and the White Angel Elite monster... my father did acqire him once... :D. It would be great to use DK2 to create DK3, redoing walls and their sideblocks to look like foliage and trees etc and do something like 2,5 :D. I even write some systems to it, like monster system consisting of DK1+DK2 monster and others.... if I will get
