  • GREG question, I do not want to do crazy effect videos like freddiew and mystreyguitar man, I just want to be able to create amazing hd true life videos with my canon camera to make general youtube videos like shanedawson and philip defranco, weezywaiter, etc. so not much editing but I still need something good. so is Final Cut pro X good for what I am wanting or would it not have the capabilities to make it look cinematic and professional like I want?

  • greg thanks for your review! it looks like the sort of thing i am looking for no pro but want more than iMovie! i have a few questions if you could answer, do you have to keep rendering every single change? and will it accept more of a range of file to import ?

  • of course lots of editors like u currently see it as a joke where some of their reasons actually sound like jokes. But not all. Things will soon shift

  • Despite what you said about this video not being a rant, after watching the entire thing, it essentially is. I was kind of looking for more detailed reasons as to why you disliked the program. It didn't happen. Despite your thoughts and opinions being true, it definitely just sounded like a bunch of whining and complaining, however valid the reasons for that happen to he.

  • @SidewaysFiction I was still in shock when doing the review I mean its a 64bit iMovie

  • @GregBurke7759 U barely talked about the program. I've been battling to some haters too but they've never used it. U sound like u have but like I've told others, in No Way is this iMovie pro or on steroids etc. It's far beyond that. There are important things missing at this time but nothing that can't be added with updates. Ur saying it should b perfect from the start when in fact this is NOT an upgrade of the older version but a whole NEW program...64 bit indeed

  • @RatedtR If its a"whole new Program" How come the last version of iMovie was 9.0 and this "ALL NEW" program is Version 10.0? Because they built the 64 bit Engine on the iMovie Code, instead of the Final Cut Code. It is a very powerful iMovie X Pro, but tats what it is, iMovie X Pro. Its a great program but It is not Final Cut in any way shape or form and it is not a "All NEw Program"

  • @GregBurke7759 What??? 1st, iMovie and FCP X are not linked like that. Have u completely lost it? Like I've stated, iMovie has NOTHING on this. To continue with the known name FCP people know what it is. Apple moved from version FCP 7 to FCP X(10) to make it clear this is completely redone. A brand new start, not an upgrade. iMovie was just updated. It's not even anything like this. Not at all...lol. I'm jumping from FCP 7 to this 'cause I can see where this is going

  • @RatedtR "I'm jumping from FCP 7 to this 'cause I can see where this is going"

    Ya on the iPad, ZING!

  • @RatedtR "FCP 7 to FCP X(10) to make it clear this is completely redone"

They used some of the iMovie Code for christ shake, Do you research! the Head Designer was the person who made/designed the Last 3 iMovies!

  • @GregBurke7759 They used some of the iMovie codes...wow, like maybe the movie strip. Maybe some old sound effect that already exists too huh. Gosh...read between the lines kid. I can just advise u to give it a chance instead of arguing with me. This is evolution into a more advanced way of editing. Apple did not put it's top executives on this project for some cheap iMovie upgrade

  • @RatedtR I think there are about 13,000 Final Cut Pro Editors who would disagree with you, enjoy for what it is, I won't / cant use it for any on my 5 projects Im currently working and that tells me, if it is the Future of the NLE software is about 5 years to early.

  • Premiere CS4 & 5 were already better than FCP7 anyway (in terms of control & flexibility), but I agree that it saddens me that apple completely lost that sense of perfection they had before for the working pro.

  • Can we see a Pro Project Edited / Published in 7 then X to see the difference ? .. i.e quality, time required ....etc ?

  • I hate the fact that you are 100 % right... But still, I couldn't work with Final Cut Pro, (Don't know what version) but it was way too complicated! But then this came out, and it LOOKS pro, and that's how i want it, simple, easy, fast and PRO-LOOK-A-LIKE, so I can make some cool videos, without spending weeks, to make a 1 minute video... So I think that its very good for me! But not for pro's... Nice video btw. :)

  • Wow! Makes one wonder what went wrong!

  • I appreciate the input you just gave about this program. I've been trying to find a review from actual professionals trying to wake myself up from the nightmare that is FCP X to see if theres something decent about it and the only reviews I've been getting are people who have no real professional experience. I worked with FCP 3 when I was a teenager and I have worked with it ever since on all my projects and I've got to tell you, FCP X feels like a big slap in the face.

  • fuck this video

  • @eggshi I saw your channel FCP X is perfect for you.

  • @GregBurke7759 i didn't spend time on those vids. just like you said

  • AVID TIME!!!

  • Do you do all of your final exports out of QT Conversion? Cause, QT Conversion has never been trustworthy. I don't know of any editors that use that as their final output. For client review: yes. But not for broadcast or internet streaming.

You use Compressor for final output. Apple released the new Compressor with the new FCPX. You just have to fork up an extra $50.

  • just cause final cut pro X doesn't have all the features final cut pro has doesn't mean u can't use final cut pro lol XD

  • I'd be interested to watch this video in a year and listen to how quickly you'll sound like a bored whiner...

  • @aclearman037 God I hope your right. I hope in a Year apple realizes that Professionals DO need allot of the Features FCP7 had. Sorry about the whining, But I was still in shock when I did the review.

  • @GregBurke7759 Sorry if I sounded rude, but I just hope I'm right! =]

  • Warcraft 3 soundtrack...love it!!

  • Hmmm... Good review. They shouldve released this as iMovie pro and released final cut X with more functionality...

  • if i download the new motion can i export form FC express to the new motion??

  • get adobe premiere pro. Its very good. Similar to fcp 7

  • I'll be honest and say: I pirate a companies software, only when they deliberately piss people off. This is the best example of it so far. But I don't want this rubbish software.

  • I feel the same way you do about this.

    I feel robed by apple.

  • Thanks for posting!

  • i just bought a imac and switched from pc to mac, and 75% of the reason i switched was final cut.. and now they ruined it... and i cant get Final Cut Studio anymore cuz its not for sale? are you kidding me.. ima go with avid i think now... Not the apple welcoming i was expecting...

  • @MatsVidar I think they bundled what Soundtrack and Color can do into FCP X, so the only thing your missing out on is a DVD maker program

  • @OceanwhispererStudio nah man, this program is shit compared to studio 7. it dosnt even have multicam..

  • @MatsVidar Fair enough I havent actually used it. Some features look great, the new timeline, renedering and effects previews, so why they didnt just incorporate them into FCP 7 I dont know. Lets hope the inevitable updates will solve some of the issues.

  • @OceanwhispererStudio ye dude, amen to that :p

  • @MatsVidar Get FCP 7.0.. if you cant buy it online anywhere, there is downloads out there.

  • @MatsVidar you have the right computer. I have a really sneaky feeling.. actually two feelings... It could be the fact that I feel like I have absolutely no idea whatsoever what Apple's actual plans for video editing are in the future.. but the first feeling is that Apple may come out of left-field and drop a brand new super editing suite... the other sneaky feeling is that they really did just get out of the pro editing software business all together.. I am thinking Avid or Adobe right now.

  • People arent going to move to avid/premiere pro, they will just stay with fcp 7

  • @ohstandard Thats what I will do, until Apple actually does something good for it.

  • @ohstandard maybe...but if apple drops ALL support for FCP 7. Witch it looks like they have. It ill be a relic in 4 years without Apples Support.

  • I almost fell asleep during the intro, but nice video. I agree with your opinions, this is more like iMovie pro.
