  • Damn. nice app/holder! Will have to get one for myself

  • sick i love it, tomtom is the best

  • does any 1 no how much battery ife u get out of this app

cause i just torrented this app

and need to use it in a few days

anda wanna no how long it will last

  • I have one question,i have ipod touch 3g dose this one works on the 3g version?

  • it works only if you buy the mount as well!

  • how much does a holder like that cost? and how much is the app?

  • 119 i believe

  • $120 usd

  • does tomtom navi. tell you about traffic?

  • At the moment, TomTom does not offer Live services (which includes traffic) on the iPhone app, however they are always working on it and it may. So it may be offered in the future

  • no, i dont think so

  • I got one. Too bad it rotates when I drive over bumps :(

  • dont work for ipod touches?

  • @lilyaman213: The app is now compatible with iPod touch, however this requires the iPod car kit which has a built in GPS chip. The car kit should be available shortly.

  • nope. ipods dont have a gps assist chip in them

  • jailbreak and get it for free people!

  • theres no good downloading links

  • i got one !! free lol

  • how?

  • what happens if you have a case do you have to take it off?

  • It still works, because iphone 3G has build in GPS chip. It decodes the data directly from satellite so you dont need GMS or internet connection for that and its free like any other standalone GPS in the market. The case is good for two purpose 1. It is used as a iphone holder and second it provides the boost to GPS signal but mind it works even without the case. I have 3G model and I have installed tomtom and it works great even without the case.

  • From what I have read it's £99 in the UK for a bit of plastic, think that a bit pricey, g lad I not brought the app as I would be a bit pissed off as you can buy a mid range sat nav for the total price of the iphone tomtom one

  • yeah but the bit you are talking about contains a gps receiver and inbuilt speaker .......

  • sorry tomtom, i prefer other products which have less lag during navigation.

the tomtom interface is the nicest though.

  • Nice app, but even when the iPhone 3G came out, it had GPS, but no navigation, WTF is up with that?

Thanks TomTom! You kick ass, hopefully I can afford this.

  • coool

  • this ad shows nothing !

it distracts us with a lot of anime that has nothing to do with the screen.

    typical euro hype.

  • It will only work on the iPod touch if you have the iGPS360 module from Orange Gadgets, and the cydia package that tricks it into thinking it's an onboard GPS unit. Otherwise, I believe it will crash at launch.

  • will this work on a jailbroken touch? i have a new 32gb 2nd generation. cheers. need the one for the uk

  • i like the song..

  • Hmm thanx for the info mate. i might check it. and i CORRECT the price of IGO. its 119$ sorry for mistyping. and i jailbreak my wifes 3G since she has it 1 year. and i saw XGPS in CYDIA.didnt test it though. iam trying to get 3GS but damn thing is not available here until september 30. iam doomed :( see u around.

  • People in Turkey wants TOMTOM but not availabe so they go for IGO navigation application which is 199 dollars. people ready ot pay more but TOMTOM is not developing it for Turkey..odd.

  • you might want to check out this site:

    navigatr . com

it's based on open streetmaps, isn't out yet.

also if you jailbreak your iPhone you can look for XGPS in the cydia-store

  • When's the car cradle coming out ? I got to get me one !

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the song used in the ad? thanks

  • Which means we have to use our own network to stay online?

I wonder how much would it charge on roaming fees.

  • um not u dnt..well if u buy the whole tomtom kit..i think it has an extended antennae so it does not depend on ur network...that's only if u buy the car kit . I'm not 100% sure about this btw

  • I really hope someone can figure this out as I really want to buy this application. But just this question gets in my way!

  • Will it work with the first generation iPhone? I have the first one and would like to know whether it will work with it. I know the software by itself does not, but may be with the gps in the holder would work.

  • it will work but u will need to connect it to the car kit (the car kit have a GPS built in) so even ipod touches can use it.

  • Thanks for the info man. I thought i would not work.

  • Will the car Kit work with Navigon? Any clue?

  • I wanna know when the uk version is gonna be out on installous or cydia does anyone know?????

  • I tried Navigon, TomTom is better in many aspects and Navigon is in many aspects better than Google maps, yet they all suck cause you need cell reception to make them work, the only advantage over Google maps is no data use

  • This is not correct. Both Navigon and TomTom for the iPhone store maps on the device and do NOT require a data connection to use. The file downloads are around 1.2GB each from the App Store because of this.

  • I'm curious if this will have a dock connector passthrough on the bottom/back of it in addition to the mini USB and AUX out...?

  • Yeah, it's here. Too bad it's a penny short of $100.

  • does anyone know the name of the soundtrack to this ad..or is it created from scratch just for this advertisement???

  • was created just for this ad

  • people should make songs like this available for download :(

  • wanna know it too :)

  • Can you do anything at the same time TomTom is running? Playing Music or Answering Calls?

  • how can u get tomtom plssssss i'm tryin to dl from so many places??

  • It's called the AppStore... I don't think you should be owning an iPhone if you don't know that. Are you 5?

  • shut the hell up you idiot. i meant how can you download from other places. (not app store)...no shit sherlock. wow ur so ancient.

  • Bite me. I'm ancient? What does that even mean??? If you mean age, I'm 20. Hardly ancient. To download from somewhere else, you need Cydia. To get Cydia, you need to Jailbreak. Wow, you ignorant assclown. Just search Google - it's probably too hard for you. Grow up.

  • Does this come with car kit or is that extra?

  • what is the song?

  • Guys, this iPhone app cost $99.99. Is it Worth it? (rhetorical question)

  • does anyone know, if this app will work with a iphone 2g?

  • uses GPS mostly and a little internet, so i guess maybe yes

  • no way in hell

  • that was filmed before they released the iPhone 3.0 software...notice the SMS writing on messaging,

  • The dock is simply a charger, not required. And the magic of the app is ease of use, it talks, and a few other helpful things. They would not make somthing that provides the same functionality as a free app.

  • That's not true, it also includes a better GPS chip and accelerometers.

  • Ahh.. ok... I must have gottes some bad intel then.. Would be nice if they sold both the app and the mount for 99 bucks.

  • What a crappy company! They release the app, but no word on how much the car kit will be (or when it will be available).

Sure, I see me buying the app and then waiting 3 months again for the mount? Forget it, Tomtom. Your methods are disgusting.

  • dude u can get a iphone mont at a lot of places

  • Dude, this is a special mount. Read the specs.

  • its stupid how everyone will buy this..googlemaps anyone?

  • offline maps anyone?

  • Comment removed

  • that is quite a gud deal..and that was one of the best adverts I have ever seen..if anyone see's it on television, it is gonna be an even bigger hit

  • Nice but way too expensive. I'll stick with my original TomTom.

  • this tom tom app looks good but i saw the navigon is $70 (us) and tom tom is $100 (us)

  • This app is OUT! It just came out yesterday. Go search the app store. It's $99.99 for US and Canada not including the car kit.

  • Where can i get it? It keeps saying coming soon

  • It's in the App-Store today :)!!!!

  • Can't wait for it.

with the external gps it would be very interesting.

Most important: would there be traffic information ???

If, so I'll buy it !!

  • No traffic info. It doesnt have live updates

  • GIve it some time and these features will find there way in.

  • tomtom listen up!! the maximum I would pay would be $50-$80 and thats more than justified and I know for the fact many people agree, if this app and mount hardware is going to be more than that I can assure you it will be failure, all you have is a software and a mounting hardware that charges the phone nothing else. I can not see in any way as why it should cost more than that. I have many friends that have the iphone and I can guarantee you 100% none of them would pay anything more than that

  • It's here ? Where ? How can it be here & comming soon at the same time ?

  • way too expensive...NO WAY!!

  • just jailbreak and donload it

  • Also, I wonder if this piece of crap will come detached from the windshield while driving and get flung across the car, only to crack your door panel (like my garbage GO 710).

  • the only way it would fall off is if u didnt put licquid on the sticky thing that goes on the windscreen

  • Too little, too late. Just bought the Navigon app. In the words of the great Gene Wilder, "YOU LOSE, GOOD DAY SIR!"

  • TomTom will reveal the future of navigation to you on Tuesday, the 22nd of September (from 10:30 am until 2 pm)

WTF! In my world the word "soon" means something else. This is absolutely unacceptable.

  • 1 Year back I've bought TomTom Navigator 6 to use on my HTC Pharos, I wonder whether TomTom will offer some navigator 6 to tomtomapp kit

  • very helpful...seeing nothing from the application but a lot of camera dolly drives and zoom ins and some old mans hand

  • This is an absolute joke how. I think they are going to wait until the navigon sale is over and then release it. As for pricing they have to be carful anymore then £50 it wouldn't be worth it most people would rather have a standalone unit. Hurry up Tom Tom patience is running out!!!!!!

  • I'm paying $50 tops for this, all of the hardware is already built into the iPhone I don't see how people can pay $200 for a simple piece of software and a suction cup mount.

  • They got to be kidding me. Im going to buy the copilot its only £25 i was waiting for tomtom but seeing as this is the price i aint bothering waiting. Im going to join the bandwagon and buy the other one. Ive been loyal to tom tom all my sat nav days. But if co pilot does the job ill defect to them for life unless tom tom bring out something that is mind blowing and i got to have. BUT IT HAS TO BE AT A REASONABLE PRICE. !

  • just so you know, i had the copilot software on an old o2 xda before i got tom tom on it, and the copilot software was really below par compared to the tom tom, the menus, smooth running of the software, and general use of the tom tom software was all better, i would personally stay well clear of copilot.

i'm probably going to wait for a bit, and hopefully the tom tom price will drop

  • Though remember that it's £113.85, and the pricing for the European market is often higher than the North American market. For instance, a product may release in the US at $120, but sell for £100.

Seen it many times, and I hope that is what is happening here. But I think not. If it is $200, that's waaaaaaaaaaaay too much. If it's $150, I'll consider it. At $100 I'll go for it,definetly.

However, no chance if it isn't released / announced by August 15.

  • Pricing seems crazy. No way would I pay anything close to the price of a standalone TomTom with its touch screen, speaker battery, GPS chip, etc. The iPhone already has all the hardware so the price needs to be a lot less!

$50-$80, including mount, is a much more reasonable price range.

  • i have been following the tech blogs and many of them have been reporting a rumored leaked price of close to $200...i just want tomtom to know if that is true, i will buy a stand alone unit and it will be a garmin!

  • I agree. $200 is way too much. I would have paid $50 tops.

  • WTF TomTom?! I'm waiting.. but that wait window is getting smaller and smaller. The Navigon sale ends on Aug 15. No app by then, you've lost another potential customer.

  • @ scofield does that mean it is on app store ?

  • no...it was a joke damn :(

  • TomTom oficially on iTunes.Check it out.

Type TomTom's staff are idiot mean people in the search bar.

  • Got to iTunes, App Store, Navigation.

Failing that search for iGo My Way in iTunes

  • Today - it's on the App store

  • Really I can't find it !

  • When???

  • iGo My Way has just been released for iPhone. Been following for some time now and this is the one I've chosen. Couldn't wait for TomTom to get their act together (no feedback to potential customers is UNACCEPTABLE).

  • I really don't want them to rush out a software that has glitches and bugs, however in same time its important for us to know a time line. since its taking them so long I hope they have a Navigation software that says **street names** not just direction which is one of the important features of a navigation software. tom tom update us with some info please,

  • Problem is .. the software has supposidly been ready for about a year (they've just tinkered it lately). The wait is on the hardware, not the software.

  • bout ready to buy either the damn NAVIGON app or an actual TomTom GPS console

  • i am soooo bored and its really pissing me off!

waiting for apple updates, new products or something else from apple is what we do (as always!!) while other people already use the stuff of other brands which apple is still developing. same old story here: tom tom tom tom tom ... but when the fu*ck comes jerry finally??? damn. i hate to wait. and i really hate to wait for products that definately could be available for over one year!!

  • One of the reasons it takes so long is Apple. They personally screen and test every app and update. The patch for iShoot took almost a month from when it was submitted to when it appeared on the iTunes store.

  • Cuando putos!! Cuando??

  • I believe that the delay must be hardware related. Since TomTom is trying to provide a windshield mount as well as the software, it would seem logical that is where the delay is coming from. Since other companies have provided software only GPS routing apps TomTom must surely have their software ready by now.

  • Do You Need Internet Service With ATT to use this app?

  • I agree with the rudeness. Communications in the modern world, like this note, takes seconds. TomTom & Apple have no excuse NOT to communicate with their current and future customers, It's US that keeps them where they are. BUT... if this aplication WAS ready, they would launch it I assume (corporate B.S apart) but if there are bugs that have not been solved and glitches in the app. I don't want it till it is right. So, Apple/TomTom, talk to us & tell us what's cookin!...if you want to keep us.

  • I'm sure it's Apple trying to LOCK in with TomTom and stop healthy competition like they do with their other products. Typical Apple Licensing...

  • What? Now that's just stupid.

  • This is very rude.

Communicate with your customers, you bastards! :)

Seriously, when will you release it? Tell us!

  • I'm convinced that TomTom must be working really close to Apple in releasing this app. There is just no way that this should take this long. There have been rumors of TomTom working on a TBT app since the original iPhone, it's even part of the reason so many bought the 3G not knowing much about the GPS capabilities of the phone.

If this app doesn't perform almost like an app built right into the OS i.e. taking calls and fading music while in the app, many will be disappointed.

  • TomTom seem to be business idiots, are they not listening to the people, its customers, it seems insane, they must know that people are going to navigon while they faff around, i would like a sat nav on my phone but im not in a serious hurry, but still this behavior from TomTom is beyond ridiculous.

  • I could not wait any longer. TomTom app looks nice but this has been going on too long. I bought Navigon and so far it has been working great. If you are sick of waiting for TomTom to get there app together, i suggest you have a good look at Navigon app for the iphone.

  • martinfrenchy - thanks for that. Your 3 part explanation was actually very interesting.

  • Tomtom is taking too long time. I bought a Navigon for tomtom. I prefer tomtom because is 10 years i am driving with tomtom software, but is very nice.

  • Yeah. I'm about to be in the same boat as the other people. Navigon has a sale on their app until mid-august... if TomTom can't release before then, I'm buying that app.

No news or announcements is bad. Keeping potential customers in the dark is worse. And announcing it at WWDC like it was a week after 3.0 release away and then not having it released over a month later is piss poor.

Good on Navigon for releasing something!

    Cheers,

  • in the start of the video they say "it's here" at the end they say "coming soon to the app store" WTF!

  • Sorry TomTom.....You waited too long and ignored your potential customers.... I downloaded NAVIGON for my iPhone and I love it.

  • must admit that Navigon will be hard to beat on that one, Only one day of use and im loving it! the only think i found is that its missing a couple of POI could be nice if it could work like google map on the iphone by searching online but still i love it

  • Awesome! Can't wait!

  • "gps CENSOR NOT A GPS RECEIVER" im sorry but after u said this im thinking you are a complete noob. Perhaps you should read how GPS actually works. Or would be ever so kind to tell me the difference between a censor (sensor- if you could spell) and a receiver??? GPS units do not send data back to the satellite.

There is countless shit i could rip into you on right now. However I would rather not spam this videos comment board. :P

  • (part 3)

It only speeds up the process of locking on to the satellite. The application maps requires a 3G/wifi signal to work because it uses the internet to download the maps which are displayed. The 3G/wifi signal is not used to calculate the location of the phone.

Long story cut short - sorry 'wgalvitron' but u are wrong with many of the things u have said. Perhaps you should base your "research" on more reliable sources. ...

  • (part 2)

information such as orbital data (IE. where the satellites are in the sky at that time), time data which would normally be supplied by the satellite, however for this to occur it requires a solid 30-40 second connection, often not possible in-doors and in weak signal areas, thus this information is sent via the internet (3G connection).

So. 'A-GPS' is not a necessity, confirming that 3G/wifi/Edge is not required with the iPhone 3G/3Gs to give an accurate location...

  • (Part 1)

    To end your misery.

The iPhone (the first one) did not have a GPS chip in it, thus it used cell towers and occasionally knew the location of a wifi your phone might be connected to, therefore it could give you an APPROXIMATE location.

The iPhone 3G and 3GS feature a GPS chip (same thing which can be found in a dedicated GPS) and it used a feature called 'A-GPS' in which it would use your 3G connection to communicate with assistance servers to provide the phone with...

  • So now that Navigon released their app and it seems pretty good... when is TomTom releasing theirs?

  • Can't wait for it to be released, the other apps i saw are quite NOT what I want :)

  • Hurry up and release it!

  • will thiswork using internet or sat like a reg gps system..because i dont wanna miss a turn just cause i lost cellphone signal

  • yes the iphone has a gps chip not a fullfledged gps system, most gps systems work by satellite the iphone works off radio towers and wifi

  • this isnt true, the iphone works off satellite as well but if no satellites are in view it uses wifi and radio. dont listen to this guy, do your research

  • okay well i'll prove it to you...right now i'm going to turn my iphone on airplane mod, turning off the wifi and the cell radio, OH MAN damn my gps doesn't work anymore dumbass DO YOUR RESEARCH PEOPLE DONT LISTEN TO THIS GUY

  • ok so why does g-map east work when airplane mode is on then? The only time the gps doesnt work with airplane mode on is google maps. google maps in the iphone uses assisted gps. if you loose your wifi or 3g connection navigon app and g-map works still. so your still wrong, do your research and id like to see you get ignorant with me in person, its easy whn your hiding behind your computer acting tough. i was just helping others out with the correct info

  • okay AGAIN the gmap east has internal maps look it up, thats why there is an east and west also why the download is so big and AGAIN the iphone has a gps CENSOR NOT A GPS RECEIVER not trying to be a dick but when you tell people i don't know what i'm talking about when you OBVIOUSLY don't it pisses me off...take your own advice and do your research simple google will prove me right or just what i said god your a moron

  • thats not what the guy was asking. he was asking if he looses a cell signal will he loose directions. he wont if using the navigon, tomtom or g-map app. did you forget what we were even talking about? im not debating the fact of any gps receiver crap i just was answering the guys question and my answer in my first response was what he wanted to know. damn retard

  • okay agreed, you may have answered his question, but not only did you SAY "THE PHONE WORKS OF SATELLITE" which it does not you gave the dude wrong information and then called me out on trying to correct you i didn't flip out or curse you you started that saying don't listen to this idiot so your wrong man anyone will tell you call up apple right now and ask them simply " if i go hiking and i have no signal whatsoever will i be able to use the gps" they will tell you NO you are WRONG

  • your right the gps does work without a wifi or edge connection... my phone has no signal cuz i took out the sim card then i turned wifi off and airplane mode on and the gps still works wtf lol u are right the other guy is a fuckin idiot

  • thank you so much!!! lol it drives me nuts when i know i am right and someone else is positive they are. i was just trying to give the guy who asked the question the correct info.

  • in what application ? gmaps ? like i said its internal maps it will not work on google maps... look up the company that makes the gps chip for the iphone its listed as (aGPS) which stands for assisted gps meaning its assisted through the use of data fucking retard

  • Comment removed

  • your iphone will work without any cell reception or wifi. you only need a satellite gps connection. ask an apple store or call apple if you need proof but i can assure you i had the 3g and now have 3gs and both will work. the only app that needs a cell connection for gps is that att navigator one. g-maps and navigon and tomtom will all work without any cell reception.

  • Okay to prove you wrong i "did the research" i actually called up my local apple store and asked them the plain question of if i have no signal and no wifi for example i'm out in the woods will my gps work for apps like google maps or my geocache app and the apple store rep told me NO " the device has a gps chip that is intended for a steady stream of data in order to work" man you are a fucking retard

  • I can't say for sure about the tomtom but I know FOR SURE the Navigon doesn't need cell service/data service... The application is 1.2GB

  • yea its that big because it has internal maps THANK YOU someone agrees my god its not a question of being right or wrong its simple anyone will tell you like a mgellion gps is not the same as an iphone gps because A) the iphone has (aGPS) assisted gps meaning it needs data via 3g wifi or edge

  • I to hope TomTom comes through soon. I tried the Navigon Demo and I don't want that one. G-Maps has Western, Eastern, and individual states already out. $34.95 is not bad for the entire Western or Eastern states and the individual state maps (some of which have two states) are only $19.95. They will be adding text to speech within a few weeks so the street names will be announced. That is a key issue for most. TomTom better hurry. They are losing potential customers fast.

  • I am eagerly awaiting this app, but I must say I think it is time to start releasing pricing and availability updates. Navigon has just released their North American app, and at $70 til August 15th, it is very tempting. I would prefer the tomtom app, but still we dont know anything and I might just go with Navigon if no information is given.

  • WHEN??!!

  • Very excited about TomTom for iPhone! Especially hoping this hasn't got the Navigon problem where the app exits when you take a call... (which means you have to restart/setup Navigon after a call, WHILE DRIVING)

  • Nav'N'Go will release iGo for the iPhone this summer too...that will kick TomTom's ass here in Europe..

  • When when when? Tomtom are not doing themselves any favors by ignoring potential customers. The least they should do is apologise for the delay and give some indication of price or release date- not asking too much are we?

  • Can't wait! Have already installed the FREE Navigon demo, now get a move on Tomtom or I may be installing the FULL Navigon app!! ;-(

  • Probably, but I'm wondering if Apple needs to revise the App store's purchase agreement now that these apps are breaking the $100.00 price point. They really need some sort of return policy I'm willing to part with $5.00 but $50.00 to $100.00 all hell will break lose should I not be happy with the app and can't get my money back.

  • Part of the delay could also be on Apple's end. Remember that everything has to go through their screening process first to make sure that the app isn't anything that will take away from their profits...opps, I mean....isn't potentially dangerous to their OS

  • Wait! wait and wait, then never will come out..! Watch! This is summer time in the US, peoples travel go places. Don't you think this would be the best time for them to release the product? oh well...

  • Comment removed

  • People need to stop bitch'n. We've been able to drive for 100 years without GPS nav. I want one too, but I can wait a few more weeks or months. It not gonna kill you.

  • Sygic (or something like that) has released a (crappy looking imo) nav app now aswell

How is it that a massive sat-nav name such as TomTom can be beaten to the punch by so many rivals?

Anyone else reckon they're working on something bigger than we all anticipate?

  • I just wish they include traffic updates as well in there as an optional sub because otherwise this is just a gloryfided tom tom one xl which would be a shame.

  • I should have bought the Navigon app, while it was still on SALE!! Give us a release date, or I'm sure everyone will by Navigon's GPS instead. And I'm telling you, TomTom: Your GPS should be better than Navigon, otherwise you have no excuse for a late release. This sucks! And one more thing... Your app better be on SALE as well.

  • release the app Tom...cruise...

    i like the music though...
