Historically speaking dracul means "dragon' while dracula means son of the dragon. But this is a game, and in the game itself it states Dracula. May be a case of the writers mixing the two for dramatic effect. Bare in mind not many people/gamers care what the actual meanings between the two words are.

hmm in the epilogue the time was in our current age so Gabriel was sitting alone and there is no sign means that he was Dracula from the Others CV Because the Original Dracula Resurrected every century and Gabriel seems to be alone all those years harming no one else...and Zobek make a deal with him to defeat Satan. if Gabriel agreed then he Was a good person after all. I don't believe that Gabriel will Love Lisa instead of his original wife Marie. Gabriel is a Dark Hero.

@DGneoseeker1 Symphony of the Night is by far one of my favorite Castlevanias of all time. Curse of Darkness wasn't bad, I just wish they stuck to Trevor Belmont's storyline instead of Hector and Isaac, although it was a good story line, and it did feature Trevor, it didn't show Trevor really going at it like old times, they need to remake Castlevania with Richter and the Belmont curse, like LoS.

The origin of DRACULA and the RELICS: holy water, daggers, etc. The humble beginnings of what started the Belmont Curse....the evidence points to it. The Orphan was named Gabriel Belmont and true Belmonts are born of the bloodline, and he is the first in story

So, Gabriel would have become Dracul (the "Dragon" or "the Devil") not Dracula (The little dragon").....perhaps.
Let's wait for what gonna show LOS 2.
I feel LOS 2 will deal with "prequel", "time loop" and "restoring the original timeline"

Alas, Castlevania has been retconned so many times, I'm not surprised Dracula goes a bit nuts. Probably has no idea who the hell he even is any more.
