Welllll, I've been pondering the question, so here goes. When Paula first became a star in the late 1980s, her best quality was her sweetness. You thought, gee, this is a nice young gal and you just wanna hug her. Not that she wasn't sexy as well, but the sweetness dominated. Cut to "American Idol" time.
