  • and i'm saving for a tenacious:((

  • They look fantastic, im getting one!

  • @freddiemjames I would recommend a Spyderco UKPK over any Boker slip joint.

  • Don't you have any scuffs issues with this slick carbon fiber handle? Excellent vid btw, keep up the great work!

  • Every time I get upset about the asinine weapon laws here in California, I think, at least it's not Europe.. :/

  • You speak

    English very well.

  • @sharpthings101 Thank you!

  • My favorite thing about the FRN model is that if you move the knife a certain way in the light you can see the Spyderco logo.

  • I appreciate that. I will avoid that area for sure. I think we will be at the markets, museums, architectural sights, eating local restaurants. In most cases, living on a budget. I just couldn't hardly imagine traveling anywhere without a pocket knife of some sort.

  • That clears that. I know the knife I will bring to Germany this fall. Thank you, very informative review.

  • @recycled365 Which parts of Germany are you going to visit?

  • @stschmalhaus

GieBen, Hessen. I wanted to bring something different than a Swiss Army knife, but I also didn't want it confiscated before I even enter the country. I wasn't aware of the UKPK models, I bought a grey leaf blade last night after watching your video.

  • @recycled365 As for the knife, good choice! - As for the town... well, I hope you are going to see more of Germany than just Gießen. ;-)

  • @stschmalhaus

Thanks. Yeah, I don't want to be there the whole time. I want to check out Wittenburg if possible.

  • @recycled365 I assume you mean Wittenberg ("e" instead of "u"), the famous town where Luther taught theology.?

  • @stschmalhaus

Yes, the city where Martin Luther nailed his protest on the church door. I'm not sure if I go there. I imagine I may be in Frankfurt as that is where my flight ends. I was hoping Wittenberg because my friend has a house there.

  • @recycled365 If you are in Hessen avoid Rüdesheim. This small town is not typically German, it's a tourist trap for Americans and Japanese. It's more like Disneyland than anything else.

  • Just subscribed to you, I personally am happy to own one of the foliage green G10 leaf blade models, and it completely changed knives for me, as it was my first 1 hand opener. Shame about discontinuing the G10's in my opinion but that carbon fibre model is very nice. Is the carbon fibre textured or smooth by the way? I have a Terzuola and that is textured but i'm not sure i'd like it smooth.

    Thanks

    James

  • @lexacor It's polished carbon fibre, so it's very smooth.

  • good

  • Hey, cooles Video!

  • Your video inspired me to order two of those fine knives, one G10, one FRN. Very happy with them.

  • @aebbelwoy Great! Thanks for letting me know. I'm glad you like them.

  • After watching this I ordered a UKPK blue frn

  • Very nice video!

  • @903lew Thank you!

  • das sum kickass english man lol

  • How do you recommend cleaning G-10? I get fingerprints all over mine.

  • @jeffersontool To be honest, I have never had problems with fingerprints on G-10. Dirt (especially on orange G-10) can be a problem, but with some soap and a toothbrush you should be able to clean it.

  • Are you planning on getting the foliage green G-10 UKPK or have you already? It looks like they're gonna be gone soon so I had to get one finally.

  • @jeffersontool No, I probably will not buy the green G-10 version. I've got enough UKPKs. ;-) I've also got both Spyderco Urban knives.

  • @stschmalhaus Nice, I've got my eyes on those as well. Thanks and keep up the good work.

  • man, that carbon fiber ukpk looks a lot like the sage 1

  • Good review you covered everything, well done.

  • @leestephenj Thank you!

  • Vielen Dank für dein informatives Video. Dank Dir bin ich überhaupt auf dieses Messer aufmerksam geworden.

  • @TheGermanNemesis Ich freue mich, dass mein Video für Dich nützlich war.

  • @stschmalhaus honestly, since im a slipjoint fan, and love the design, this is my favorite spyderco knife. i should pick one up. nice review man :)

  • @krazy4knives Thank you!

  • Great review. I own the Spyderco Terzuola an excellent knife in the SLIPIT line.

The Terzuola however is very expensive at arround £104, for an edc kife it would be heartbreaking let alone bank breaking if it was lost/dammaged. After watching you review the FRN UKPK looks like a great investment in terms of value for money. A high quality branded knife at a price which seems very reasonable for an every day working knife. Great video thanks

  • @Efedra42 Thank you! - The Terzuola looks like a great knife but I never liked the lanyard attachment. It looks a little odd in my opinion.

  • @stschmalhaus I'll agree with you there the leather lanyard/fob thing is very odd, but the removal modification is pretty simple to do. The blade steel and shape seems outstanding though and the carbon fibre handles make it maximum knife porn. BTW I have now ordered the leaf blade FRN UKPK based on your review. keep up the good work dude.

  • awesome vids

  • Great review!

  • Great comparison video. It's lays out the UKPK series very nicely!

  • @Chris1992usa Thanks for watching!

  • Best UKPK review :)

  • @oromoto Thank you!

  • how would you rate the grip on the carbon fiber of the ukpk? It looks really glossy on the video...

  • @Orchunter93 Yes, the carbon fiber is highly polished. The G10 handle provides the best grip.

  • Great video, thanks for making it!

  • Another great, informative video! Keep up the good work. BTW, I am interested in what type of web development work you do. I'm the IT Director for a company that does a lot of internet marketing. We probably have a lot of things in common.

  • @thenetwerx Thank you very much for your kind words! Please check out my video "Fun with the YouTube API" (v=rLxhmRk4pto), that should give you an idea of what kind of work I do.

  • I love them as well. Perfect for EDC. Now treat yourself on the lovely orange Urban Wharncliffe variant, another excellent modern slipjoint, and it feels quite different from the UKPK.

  • @MrDagon007 Indeed, the Urban is another great knife. I've already got the Urban with leaf blade and foliage green handle. Thanks for watching, my friend!

  • thank you so much for your very comprehensive and excellent review, it was really enjoyable to see the different colors and styles all together for comparison, thanks for taking the time to make this vid.

  • @pwrmek You are welcome! It was fun to make this video.

  • I love the colours! Awesome!

  • @katabunga Thanks for watching, Kat!

  • I'm very jealous that you have some of the cooler ones. :) I want that orange and the CF one!!! Good vid! Outstanding points made and great breakdown of the different models. This was a real treat!

  • @MrJimbofox Thank you very much, Jimbo! I'm always surprised that the UKPKs seem to be very popular in the United States, too.

  • @stschmalhaus I'm honestly a lil surprised they aren't MORE popular here! But I don't wanna give away too much. I will detail in my review of the knife exactly what I think about it. It's a review I'm very, very, very excited to do! Thanks for the info on the G10 models being discontinued. I just emailed my vendor and told him to get me some ASAP!!!

  • @MrJimbofox Great! I'm really looking forward to your review.

  • very nice vid i didn't know about the spyderco ukpk now i want one

  • Great review!

I have the orange G10 coming my way.

I look at it as a Caly3, minus the lockback.

    Perfect for EDC.

  • +++++

  • awesome video, best ukpk review

  • I carry a FRN drop point its a great knife, It was a happy day when I found out about them, its a UK legal Spyderco I can afford. good vid =)

  • Great review. I suppose if an American was to travel in Europe this would be the one to pack. So, I want an orange I better hurry up.

  • I see a lot of people don't like liners. Do you know why?

  • Nice discussion of the differences in the family and why some are more dollars than others. Obviously you prefer plain edge blades! LOL!

  • Awesome, they're legal in Ireland too. Flick Knives are illegal though.

    (a) a flick-knife, that is to say—

    (i) a knife which opens when hand pressure is applied to a button, spring, lever or other device in or attached to the handle, or

    (ii) a knife which has a blade which is released from the handle or sheath by the force of gravity or the application of centrifugal force and when released is locked in an open position by means of a button, spring, lever or other device;

    :D

  • Like those! Thanks 4 sharing!

  • BRAVO!

  • i can t carry a knife.would like to have them around the house.wander if germany is cheaper.since i am a half hour from elten.i can get a spyderco

  • @koioo2 I'm not familiar with tax and customs in the Netherlands, but I guess it's similar to Germany. So your best choice is probably to order directly from vendors in the US.

  • @stschmalhaus you do have shipping cost maby order from amazon

  • I live in Poland ( also a part of europe) :), but my knife laws are very easy going. I can carry any knife as long its not "hidden" example: knife in a staff or umbrella. Very cool knife, i want to get one of those someday, but they are pretty pricey here i must say. I really like the blue one you showed :) very cool!!! And YOU HAVE A BUNCH of them :D, a UKPK addiction :P.

  • @TheLazySpoiledKitty I know. Spyderco knives are insanely expensive here in Europe. I ordered my UKPKs directly from US vendors. Even with shipping, tax, and customs they were still cheaper than here in Germany.

  • Those are some sharp (pun intended) looking knives.
