haha fuck that, this game was so fucking hard, I got stuck at minute 11:00 in that room with block that disapear and apear, and those blocks with arrows that go up and down of left right, filled with death spikes. I could never pass that freaking room! And I remember I tried and tried and nothing. I could never save Dead eye duck from his brain wash lol.
tas my ass. there are things happening which you could never do on a console. speed runs should be about skill, not about how much you can tweak a game.
@raiseer You obviously don't know what TOOL-ASSISTED speedruns are "about".
'Normal' speedruns are about pushing the player to his limit. Tool-assisted speedruns are about pushing the GAME to its limit. Hence doing stuff like planning the game out, playing it one frame at a time, looking for that optimization that'll save you one frame, tens if not hundreds of thousands (over 55,000 in this run) of rerecords to get it just right, etc...
@Clefaria ah ok. i always thought tool-assisted was limited to replaying scenes over and over again (by "rewinding"), cutting the pieces together where you made your best times and stuff. kind of "what would be possible by playing it infinite times and taking the ultimately best shot of these infinite attempts" (but shortened by replay and recut). seems I was wrong about that.
@raiseer Yeah, there are enough that think that that it makes us look bad. Also, Lots of things possible in TASes are possible in real time. Sonic speedruns vs. TAS for S1 and S2 are actually remarkably close, for example.
I agree. The music in this one is fantastic. I remember playing this game as a kid. A question for anyone in the know, what did the death around 6:45 do? Did he skip a cutscene or something?
I found the answer to my own question. The author's comments in the link to the right have the info. The deaths let him skip multiple levels. Also the music in the last leve around 20:00 is simply amazing.
Holy GOD this guy is good. I love the music in this game. Really good adaptation of the show. Only wish the show lasted more than 1 season. Fuckin' stations. Don't know Good from ungodly awful.
