Please respond! I'm not sure to either get a i7 2600k or the i5 2500k because i don't mind spending the extra money to get better performance. Most people say there is no difference in processors, but what do you think which would be better?
If im going for ultra graphiqs on bf3, is i5 2500k, msi twin frozer 560 ti, 650 watt PSU, 8GB ram going to do it? also i have 7 fans that i can control speed of by a panel in the front of the case.
@G6Kenny i have everything the same here and i get an average 30 fps, sometimes drops at 23-25 when piloting a jet, but i wouldnt recommend it for ulta. However if you are going to superclock your graphic card then that should pretty much do
@G6Kenny as NvidiaNerd said the 560 ti will have a hard time with the game if you push the graphic settings to the max, i'd invest some more money and buy a better one or maybe go SLI with 2 560 ti's but then you'd pay the same price as an amd 7950 which alone should perform better than SLI 560 ti's but just google benchmarks for 560 ti's or 570 or 6970 it will give you a better idea of how they perform in multiple games while keeping the same price range
@G6Kenny yes, the price (here at least) isnt so much higher but you get better performance, looking at benchmark the 560ti stays around 30-40 fps average with a 2600k that is ultra settings but in single player, might drop further down in multi player, while the 570 stays between 50-60 fps and it gives you safety for games to come, and when the new nvidia series arrive the "old" cards will drop in price so you can SLI your 570 with another one to re-gain performance when its due :)
@G6Kenny at a farily low cost :) instead of replacing it for a single 580 that wont performe as good as 570 SLI oh and you can always overclock it aswell when the time is due :) i actually wanted to buy that card but with AMD lunching their new series im waiting to see what nvidia as to offer
hi im thinking of getting a i5 2500k over an i7 2600k thanks to your video and other helpful tips people have given me as im using my PC purely for gaming. the motherboard im getting is a Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 which is compatible for i7 2600k and i5 2500k. does this mean that if i was to want to upgrade to a i7 in the future it would be relitivly simple in terms of just needing to buy the i7 processor and no additional hardware?
@akramtfk they will both give you the same performance, only a minor difference BUT the i7 has 8 hyperthreading cores which gives a advantage over the i5's 2500k 4 hyperthreading cores. basically the i7 2600k will give you better performane in video editing, but that is not the case here since ur into gaming and a OC'd i5 2500k will easily rival a stock i7 2600k. then again there is only a minor diference on gaming. if your on a budget i recommend a i5 2500k
dude what if i like to surf the net with 20+ tabs opened all the time and with 4 other applications opened what would you recommend i7 2600k or i5 2600k ?
I honestly would wait for ivy-bridge to come out and see the prices drop on the 2600k because if it does around $100+ dollars I might get it if ivy-bridge is cheaper than that but if their both still expensive including the 2500k Ill just get amd phenom or fx quad core
i have the 2500k. i use it for gaming and for video editing, its pretty damn good for both. save the extra hundred bucks to spend on your gfx card or get an ssd
my i5 750 was apparently broken for random reason, and i need to get a new processor, Im going to wait for the ivy bridge but I dont know whether i should go with the i5 or i7. I like to play games. Everyone told me that i5 is the best no difference in performance compared to i7 in gaming -100 bucks, but how come i always feel that i5 is a dumb down version of i7, I hope Im wrong
@custompcreview do you think i7 is more futureproof, like let say in the next 1-2 years more games gonna take used of that extra threads, and maybe windows 8 gonna take a use of those extra cores
@bogellenong Yeah, it'll be more futureproof, but I'm not sure it's worth that extra $100 of future proofing. Buying a better graphics card is a much better way of spending an extra $100.
@0manofaction0 I guess you can, but price-quality comparing, you should buy the XFX HD 6870 dual fan instead off HD6670, HD6670 will be outofdate in like 1,2 years for new games
@0manofaction0 I wanted to do that too, but it will cost more money.. So i chose for saving money for one more month and then you have better performance

@0manofaction0 i would go cheaper on the mobo cause u will not really get better performance with a 200 dollar board compared to a 100 - 150 dollar board like the ASUS GENE-Z68 M-ATX board (that is LGA 1155so ur good)which costs around 130 - 160 and for most things u dont need more than 4 gigs of ram... try 2x2 GB's of ram in dual channel instead of 2x4GB's also a 650Watt PSU is enough for your setup since ur only usingh 1 GPU :)
@Buttfuckbysquirl Thanx for the info though too late on mobo and ram :|. The pc is already home without gpu. i think i will save up some buck and get 6870. I prefer amd over nvidia both in price and perfomance vice.
Im buying a new intel cpu, i plan on buying the intel core i5 2500, but the intel core i5 2500k is $30 more, is it worth the $30? I'm not very good at over clocking and i know the k stands for unlocked
I got my i7 2600k with the purchase of a CyberpowerPC last year. Since then I have completely replaced everything except the processor and the case, bluray, DVD, fans and secondary hard drive. I have disabled my hyper threading in bios and would buy the i5 2500 for my needs or the i5 3650 in the future.

ive seen from benchmarks in games that 2500k and 2600k performs about the same, either one a couple fps above the other in various games. But in games like bf3, gta IV, crysis, is it the same there? Does games take benefit from hyperthreading?
@zelly2k9 Out of those, only BF3 can benefit, but the game isn't cpu intensive enough to actually max out an i5 2500K. You're better off upgrading your graphics.
OK guys, the only part I'm missing is my CPU. I am thinking about getting the i5-2405S. Any thought or comments ? Z68 V Pro/GEN3 16GB RAM , PU 630W, a big ass cooler master case 923 and a dell mouse.
@Darkmanskin Why would you get an i5 2405S? That's a low TDP (and lower performance) chip designed for a specific (non gaming) purpose. You need to grab an i5 2500K for only $10 more. On that note, feel free to drop by the forums and post your build (with links). I'll take a look at it. Cheers!
@Darkmanskin LOL in that case, buy a laptop. No power draw, but no performance either. BTW that raidmax power supply sucks. I suggest you go with a TX650.
Thanks for your guidance dude. after watching your video i bought corei5 2500k. best processor for gaming. again than you so much. (Sami khan from Quetta Pakistan)
you don't have to buy a processor with 'k'. for example core i5 2500 or 2500k. the 'k' means that is easy and more overclockable. without the 'k' the processor is very hard to overclock.
@mrchrischan0323 Depends... what processor do you have? i3 2100? Prolly no difference upgrading that. Not unless you have like a SLI or Crossfire setup. You'll be better off upgrading your vid card.
-.- Fuck! Just came here to see if a i5 processor would be okay, I am currently studying creative media at college but want to study animation at uni. I currently already make quite demanding videos with animation and video editing on a laptop (Not for Youtube) !! Looks like I will have to buy the i7 but I have very little money :(
@custompcreview you should go after is asus, gigabyte, asrock, i heard ppl say msi is bad but since you use msi boards i think they will be pretty good are you gonna reveiw the cosmos 2 by any chance i want that case sooo bad
@Darkmanskin I'm gonna go for 8gb of Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 at 1600mhz, even though on Intel's website it says that the 2500k and the 2600k support 1300mhz
@stigh3lm3r Pretty good. I'd switch out the 2600k for a 2500k and upgrade the GTX 560 to a GTX 570 or HD 6950 though. Post your build on the forums and I'll take a closer look.
@custompcreview the thing is that ive alredy bought my graphicscard.because i got it very sheep.but im going to pugrade it.one question if i have two of these grafics "SLI" is it going to be lika a 570? ps i can oveer clock the card from 822 mhz to 900
@footballelmaestro123 It is veeeeeeerry hard to make games thread better, so not for a few years. Both the i7 2600K and i5 2500K will basically be outdated by then. If you're not short on money, wait for the new Ivy-Bridge Intel processors to come out which will be a lot better than these guys.
When is a better version of the i5-2500k going to be out. I really dont want to buy one only to have a i5-2550K to be released in the next few weeks. Anyone in the know ?
ok so the 2600s is gone! thanks for the info Im jus gonna purchase either the i5 2500k ive heard that's the best for gaming or should I go with the i7 2600? thanks for the advice!
is there a huge difference in gaming between the i7 2600s and i7 2600? and if so how much in terms of percentage for gaming trying to save some money since it's very tight but at the same time dont want to waste my money any advice is appreciated
@liandriunreal Buying a i7 2600s is probably the biggest waste of money for gaming. It's basically a lower TDP i7 2600. If you want to save money, I suggest you buy a i5 2500K.
@cowclot i have an i5 2500k myself..... only exotic freak bitches buy 2600k for a 3% performance improvement. I thought of buying bulldozer myself.... but even after having 8 cores ... CPU heavy games (example GTA IV) did not have a that much of boost compared to i5 2500k.
@custompcreview (im sorry but my english is not perfect) I mean how good the i7 950 because I think its between the i5 2500k and the i7 2600k and if we give 0% to the i5 2500k and give 100% to the i7 2600k how much % you give for the i7 950? Did you understand? I want to know how far or near from the i5 2500k or the i7 2600k
@bkristof910 Oh, ic... ummm overclocking or not? If overclocking, the i7 950 is like -100% if not, it's about 25% to -50% depending on how heavy the multithreading is. The i7 950 can outperform the i5 2500K when doing HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY multithreading ONLY. Post question in the forums or PM me, I'll link you to benchmarks
@KpopEnglishVersion Yes, future games will. But most games are more videocard dependent than CPU dependent, so it's almost always better to invest in a higher end video card if you have to decide between the two. If you've already got a great videocard, feel free to invest in an i7 2600K for better futureproofing.
@KpopEnglishVersion Im sure in the future there will be games optimized to take full advantage of more than 4 threads guessing by the rate games are advancing but it will be awhile. By the time it does there will be newer tech. But sure no1 really knows for sure but probably. I just purchased the i7 2600k because I do alot of photo editing and gaming so the $100 was worth it in my case. From a pure gaming standpoint save $100 and put it into a GFX card
Great review ! I just have one question : On softwares such as Cinema4D (which is well-optimised for multi threading renders), will a 4cores/8threads (more or less) twice as fast vs 4cores/4thread while rendering (with similar frequencies) ?
@WqqqkO You should probably look up benchmarks, but typically the benefit of having the extra threads is about 30 or so percent in a well coded applications.
So would you say that the i5 is better for straight up gamers, while the i7 would be better for gamers/youtubers, with video editing, rendering, and things like that?
@MMGRC28 Yup. But you can still do youtube with video editing, rendering with the i5, it's just a bit slower on the video editing, rendering etc IF the application you use supports multithreading.
Okay, you mentioned video editing but which one is best for audio editing?
Hautegus 2 days ago
@Hautegus Both. Audio editing is not as intensive as video editing.

ive seen from benchmarks in games that 2500k and 2600k performs about the same, either one a couple fps above the other in various games. But in games like bf3, gta IV, crysis, is it the same there? Does games take benefit from hyperthreading?
zelly2k9 3 weeks ago
@zelly2k9 Out of those, only BF3 can benefit, but the game isn't cpu intensive enough to actually max out an i5 2500K. You're better off upgrading your graphics.

OK guys, the only part I'm missing is my CPU. I am thinking about getting the i5-2405S. Any thought or comments ? Z68 V Pro/GEN3 16GB RAM , PU 630W, a big ass cooler master case 923 and a dell mouse.
Darkmanskin 3 weeks ago
@Darkmanskin Why would you get an i5 2405S? That's a low TDP (and lower performance) chip designed for a specific (non gaming) purpose. You need to grab an i5 2500K for only $10 more. On that note, feel free to drop by the forums and post your build (with links). I'll take a look at it. Cheers!

@custompcreview I was think about that CPU because I have to pay the electric bill. LOL

And a big ass Cooler Master case 923

@Darkmanskin LOL in that case, buy a laptop. No power draw, but no performance either. BTW that raidmax power supply sucks. I suggest you go with a TX650.

i5 2500k is the best gaming CPU. Even in applications i5 2500k is fast enough, equal with a i7 920.
SuperThe86 3 weeks ago
you don't have to buy a processor with 'k'. for example core i5 2500 or 2500k. the 'k' means that is easy and more overclockable. without the 'k' the processor is very hard to overclock.

Is changing this processor will improve FPS greatly in gaming?(Like Skyrim and BF3)

will games in the future use hyperthreading???
footballelmaestro123 1 month ago
@footballelmaestro123 Some games now already can, but you should worry more about your graphics card than your CPU.
custompcreview 1 month ago
@footballelmaestro123 It is veeeeeeerry hard to make games thread better, so not for a few years. Both the i7 2600K and i5 2500K will basically be outdated by then. If you're not short on money, wait for the new Ivy-Bridge Intel processors to come out which will be a lot better than these guys.

What should I use for realistic rendering in 3d Max i7 2600K or i5 2500K.
Is it helping for boost up rendering time If I use GTX 550 Ti for graphic card ?
alpanx 1 month ago
@alpanx I'd say i7 2600K. 3ds max can be cpu intensive when rendering. depending on if your renderers can use gpu rendering, the 550 ti can help.

is there a huge difference in gaming between the i7 2600s and i7 2600? and if so how much in terms of percentage for gaming trying to save some money since it's very tight but at the same time dont want to waste my money any advice is appreciated
liandriunreal 1 month ago
@liandriunreal Buying a i7 2600s is probably the biggest waste of money for gaming. It's basically a lower TDP i7 2600. If you want to save money, I suggest you buy a i5 2500K.

custompcreview 1 month ago
@custompcreview (im sorry but my english is not perfect) I mean how good the i7 950 because I think its between the i5 2500k and the i7 2600k and if we give 0% to the i5 2500k and give 100% to the i7 2600k how much % you give for the i7 950? Did you understand? I want to know how far or near from the i5 2500k or the i7 2600k
bkristof910 1 month ago
@bkristof910 Oh, ic... ummm overclocking or not? If overclocking, the i7 950 is like -100% if not, it's about 25% to -50% depending on how heavy the multithreading is. The i7 950 can outperform the i5 2500K when doing HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY multithreading ONLY. Post question in the forums or PM me, I'll link you to benchmarks

Do you think future games would use hyperthreading? If not, then I would just go for i5 2500k. What's your suggestion?
KpopEnglishVersion 1 month ago 11
@KpopEnglishVersion Yes, future games will. But most games are more videocard dependent than CPU dependent, so it's almost always better to invest in a higher end video card if you have to decide between the two. If you've already got a great videocard, feel free to invest in an i7 2600K for better futureproofing.
custompcreview 1 month ago
@KpopEnglishVersion i even considered to wait for ivy bridge and take a six cores processors cuz in few yeas game will use more then 4 cores
buzz9961 1 month ago

Thanks ! :)
WqqqkO 1 month ago
@WqqqkO You should probably look up benchmarks, but typically the benefit of having the extra threads is about 30 or so percent in a well coded applications.

So would you say that the i5 is better for straight up gamers, while the i7 would be better for gamers/youtubers, with video editing, rendering, and things like that?
MMGRC28 1 month ago
@MMGRC28 Yup. But you can still do youtube with video editing, rendering with the i5, it's just a bit slower on the video editing, rendering etc IF the application you use supports multithreading.
