Mussolini made a big mistake in trying to colonize these lands ( Istria e Fiume). He did not need to be italianize Capodistria, Pirano , Isola, Parenzo, Rovigno, Dignano, Pola, Albona etc because the towns very always italians with centuries of venetian heritage. Croats and Slovenes were everyhere in the center of Istria such as Pinguente, Pisino etc. We can only thank Mussolini if we lost Istria , Fiume and Zara.
The Slovenian language is born with the Heresy of Protestant Primoz Trubar, this is the reason for which Holy See and Jesuit order created the Assassin Fascist army, For the religious punishment of Slovenian. The same they did in Etiopia, where the Black pope wanted to wipe away the Heretic Hortodox church of Etiopia. Give a look at how they ignited the Jesuit Fascist massacre with a pair of Grenades to the viceroy Graziani. Remember: COUNTER REFORMATION never died.
The fact that this is the Counter Reformation strategy of the Jesuit order is assured also by the fact that all the members of the Sentinels (“Stražarji”) who were a corp of Slovenian collaborationist paramilitary of the Fascist Italian occupants, were all members of the St. Mary's Congregation of the Jesuit order.
This is fantastic that this information is coming out. After the war Italy was shown by the Allies as totally inocent of any wrong doings. However my father saw the attrocities committed by the Garibaldi Divisions in Slovenia in 44', the Riseria Jew/Slav Extermination camp in Trieste in April 45, and the many death camps run by Italy in the Veneto on their soil where plenty of Slovenes were interned and died. These camps were bulldozed in June 45 to hide the evidence.
why dont talk about 500 000 italians forced leave istria and dalmatia in ex jusgoslavia by communists pigs of tito? italians apologyzed for all with evrybody, i've still to hear ex jugoslavians ask excuse for ethnic cleaning in their land, to kill 50 000 innocents italians and force 500 000 of them leave istria and dalmatia.....fkk off....mussolini saved italy
remember..that was after the fasci "pigs" killed our innocent children (my uncle was aged 9 and died in Arbe)...I know PERSONALLY NORMAL italian people that stayed...(i speak for minority in slovenia)...and Italy also now pays for them money "stolen" for slovenian minority in Italy.
Another point: fascist repression was undoubtly BRUTAL, but the extent of foibas was worse. During fascism only a LITTLE part of slavs emigrated, while after 1947 from 290.000 to 350.000 Italians fled!! Just check MIXED slovene-italian historical commission. So... Will you say that we are all fascist supports to remember that tragedy?!
no - people should remember tragedies. But the exodus of Italians pales compared to the exodus of Germans from present day Poland, Czech Rep, Serbia, Romania and Russia.
As for the fascist era, I think about 70,000 slavs fled. As for the 290-350k figure, that includes many Croats and Slovenes, who, like my aunts and uncles chose to live under the west and not under communism.
I welcome documentaries like this to see both sides. Anyway, the great majority of Italians don't praise fascists, they are simply tired to listen to some old lies and stupid mottos, like "Trst je nas" and Istria and Dalmatia of slavic history and culture. You were just A PART of it, neither the most important nor the most numerous (until habsburgic dominion). Before venetians, several towns and villages spoke old neolatin language. Please learn!!
And we too are tired of hearing "dalmazia, istria e fiume, ne slovenia, ne croazia" or "scavi", etc. Racism on both sides will never succeed.
However, Slavs did not become the majority because of the Hapsburgs - in Istria, for example, Slavs were the majority even when most of Istria was under Venetian rule.
If all of our politicians here were more evoluted we could have some kind of Switzerland here...but it seems we were too oppressed for a solution like this.
Most people do not know that it was Mussolini and not Hitler who provided training camps for the Croatian fascist Ustase movement. Hitler did not want a Croatian state at first, because he hated all Slavs. Mussolini saw the use of capturing Croat nationalist support to allow Italy to divide and conquer the Adriatic coast. This was appeasing Croats for their anger at his success in the 1925 Treaty of Nettuno that forced Yugoslav government to allow Italians to freely immigrate to Dalmatia.
Although I do not know the Yugoslav dialects, I know that the video is showing. It is good that this documentary shows the expansionist agenda of Mussolini upon the Adriatic Coast.
The only reasons the slavs even existed in these areas is because of the Austrians. During their rule the Italians wanted to reunite with the rest of Italy.
The Austrians recognized the problem and shipped in foreigners mostly slavs and some hungarians to these areas to try and decrease the large Italian majorities in these areas.
There are census records available on the internet from that period which shows the artificial increase of foreigners in Italian lands during Austrian rule.
Again...even if they were 100% italian, Slovenia got only "italian" capodistria and 40km of Northern-Istria shitty coast, but lost ALL of the western slovenian lands...Val Canale, Resia, Slavia Veneta, Gorizia+Trieste were slovenian before WW I/II, thats's a fact.
Italian since Roman times, lost to another invading barbarian tribe. They killed 20 000+ in the foibe, forced 300 000 to flee their homes. Thats genocide.
Whole streets in Italian cities were renamed and changed, museums and items of cultural importance were destroyed to try and remove the italian identity of these cities. We founded them, built them and yet the slavs say they are theirs?
SLAVA SVOBODNI PRIMORSKI, ki danes praznuje častljivi jubilej!!!! Čeprav Trst, Gorica, Beneška Slovenija, Rezija in Kanalska dolina (še) niso osvobojene in priključene Sloveniji..
Well that sounds like hate to me. The way to get over this is to educate people not to hurt one another. You only hurt yourself when you hold on to hate.
We hate no one. We were the victims. And I don't hate any nation entirely, but if you think I'll forgive fucking fascist for what they've done to my country and my people... NEVER!
I generally like Italians, but I hate fascists, and all their apologists. One day I hope I'll travel to Predappio and let my dog urinate on Mussolini's grave. And then I'd like to smash his tomb to pieces, and use his skull for my dog's bowl.
Only forgiveness brings you peace and I pray peace will be upon you. Never forget what happened to your people. It is awful. But the only way to break the chain of pain is with teaching peace. Teach what was done to you and never let it repeat. Violence only brings more violence. Don't you think it is time to bring peace?
Italians I have already forgiven, however I will NEVER forgive fascist scum! And anyone adoring Mussolini will not get a glass of water from me, even if dying from thirst! I am not joking! Stop spreading pointless "peace" teachings. I reject collective guilt, but ALL fascists are to blame, even if they haven't been born back then. It's so easy to preach, when you come from the side that wasn't victimized. The only way to overcome all this is that Italy rejects fascism and revisionism.
This is nothing but barbarian propaganda, dont believe it. Italians have been there long before the slavs invaded. Some idiot said we only there from 1914 onwards, ww1 ended in 1918 and that is when it came under our control AGAIN. You see before Austrians ruled it for only 100 years, Venetians ruled it for 500 years. After ww2 it was stolen by the slavs, hundreds of thousands of italians were murdered forced from their homes. That is genocide.
Austria ruled for over than 100 years if only they remained it would be better today all that happend after 1918 it was nothing but stupid nationalism and hate towards different nationalities which brought up more egzoduses, pain and suffering and is not over still today.. before Austria there was the french rule before that it was Austria also and before that was venice republic. and for your information the venetians are who encouraged the Slavs from the north/east to come live here
and it makes me wanna puke when some people keep yelling on the internet how slavs forbid you to live here, once we get to EU NO ONE will forbid you to live here! and as for "big" Croats and Slovenians who keep yelling this is their land since "CENTURY 9TH" there was NO Croatia or Slovenia before 1918 here! there was, Dalmatia,Venetia,Slavonia,Furlania.
this is all true entire Istria was italianized in 1918 people's last names, village names was forcefully italianized, croat schools burned down by the "squadristi" children were FORCED to attend italian schools,if they would remain at home, their parents would be forced to pay fines and extra taxes to the state also all newborns HAD to be named ITALIAN names, better learn some history from the "OLD LOCAL PEOPLE" before telling facts. my parents have lived through the horror oif fascism, and yours?
And for the record i hate NO ONE even if some people should NEVER be let into Istria again after their grandparents were involvded in slaughtering over 17000 Istrians during the fascist/nazi regime i will still open my door to them because we the new generation should tend to make this world a better place and not live in hate while NEVER forget what happened and NEVER let it repeat again.
@ferraristallion hey moron what does it mean that Italy should get back everything they had since Roman Empire including Middle East ? It was the Great Migration that brought Slavs to these areas. Geographically Dalmatia and Istria should not be part of Italy. Its just history, you got other concessions like in Western Slovenia
Bah, it was a normal process for the time. Fascism doesn't mean genocide, it was not fascism that led to atrocities, it was the policies of the leaders. Enlightened fascism can prevent these things.
You, Fuckin' Fascists, you should only shut up and stop threwing other shit on our shitty country. Italian people did terrible things in Istria and Slovenians and Croats revenge was nothing but a way to rebuild their country and national power, although it was a vary hard way.
I was not saying that there hasn't been a massacre, but only this: Croats and Slovenians had to eliminate possible opposers to re-gain supremacy on their land...they thought Italian presence in their country could stop the process of independence from west-european countries, so (I know, it's terrible to say) this solution was the fastest way to do it.
Keep cool my friend. Now is Istria a part of Slovenja and Croatia.
Trieste was and is italian. Let be the past simply past. I don't hate you or your people, why do you hate me? Because that which my people did 70 years ago?
Wow! I don't hate the people which destroyed Rome 2000 years ago.
'greasy oil haired spagghetti language' is the language of Dante Alighieri, Petrarca, Boccaccio, Manzoni and many others that would be useless to mention for an ignorant like you. I admire british people because they send all idiots in America. Regarding on the 'spagghetti' you should learn to eat like us rather than like barbarians as you are.
You're totally right, what Mussolini did was completely wrong, instead of building schools and trying to make you Italian he should have killed you all.
hey drealm you can say this shit online but if ever run into you in person i oubt you would say that shit to my face. the fuckin country you live in is based in ancient roman ideals.
The Italian people has been tricked by Mussolini, as the Germans with Hitler. In those days everyone had to join the fascist party, or were tortured or killed by commandos called "black shirts". War is the denial of human intelligence. Jesus Christ said: who is without sin cast the first stone. I do not believe that the Yugoslav people are better than others (do not forget the problem of so-called "foibe").
No, I'm afraid is definitively not in italian language. We know americans are among the most ignorant people in the world, but you exaggerate. Chill out.
very good video. Unfortunately there is a denial in certain sectors of Italian society of the sins committed in their name. Our last name was Italianized, my relatives were beaten for speaking Croatian, my great uncle was killed by Italian fascists pre-WW2; another was killed in Dachau. Another great uncle fled to Yugoslavia in the 30s.
Foibe were wrong but on the scale of brutality they don't even compare to what was done against the slavic population in Istra, Gorizia, and Dalmatia.
6)Italy has been the home of scientists and inventors: the physicist Enrico Fermi, one of the fathers of quantum theory, inventor of the nuclear reactor and head of the Manhattan Project; the astronomer Giovanni Domenico Cassini; the physicist Alessandro Volta, inventor of the electric battery; the mathematicians Lagrange and Fibonacci; Nobel Prize in Physics laureate Guglielmo Marconi, inventor of the radio; and Antonio Meucci, inventor of the telephone."
Marcbirc, my frend. Why YOU and also some Italians have such hate against the other?`The war is over, mayby you didn't know that, but we have 2007. No one says that Italy didn't do massacre or other terrible thinks, but please also the red "fighter" of Tito!!!
Istria is NOW a part of Slovenia/Croatia, but it WAS a italian part for many many centuries. And the people were mostly italians. So what, we have now other situation but peace. I like Slovenian and also Croatian. Peace with you, brother.
I repeat: I DO NOT HATE ITALIANS. I just hate nazis like pandemonio and simili merdosi, who think they're superior. The nation that slaughtered my ancestors can not now even spit on us.
I can assure that YOU HATE THE ITALIANS. You are glad to know something about a problem in Italy, you bastard full of complexes!! You envious! Make a video about your fucking Slovenia rather than videos against our History.
YOU have complexes my friend, and i personally think because of our progress (remember, better prices, newer and clean infrastructure, the shops in SLO are flooded with italian tourists). When i go to Italy it seems to be in the 70's :P
I don't know in what italian places you come. Anyway when in Milan start a particular attitude or a fashion, after some year it spread troughout all Europe.
4)"Dante Alighieri, whose greatest work, the Divina Commedia, is often considered the foremost literary statement produced in Europe during the Middle Ages and one of the greatest works of world literature ever, there is no shortage of celebrated literary figures; the writers and poets Boccaccio, Giacomo Leopardi, Alessandro Manzoni, Tasso, Ludovico Ariosto, and Petrarch, whose best known vehicle of expression, the sonnet, was invented in Italy."
OUR TRIBUTE??? mUahahahahahahahah! you are a fool! I will use again the English free encyclopedia.
"Italy has been the home of many European cultures, such as the Etruscans and the Romans, and later was the birthplace of the movement of the Italian Renaissance. Italy's capital Rome has been the center of Western Civilization, and is the center of Roman Catholic Church."
2)"Italy's contributions to the cultural and historical heritage of Europe remain immense. In fact, Italy is home to the greatest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites (41) to date."
"Italy has seen many artistic and intellectual movements that spread throughout Europe and beyond, including the Renaissance and Baroque.
3)It is a founding member of what is now the European Union (having signed the Treaty of Rome in 1957), and also a member of the G8, the Council of Europe, the Western European Union, and the Central European Initiative. Beginning January 1, 2007, Italy became a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. Also Italy is considered a Great power."
In Italy there is a lot of Slovenian persons for 1000 other things, it is totally crazy to think that can exist a "pure race", Serbian tried it too, and they found just 4 old men on the mountains, you have only hate in your veins, poor boys.
1/1 Ljubljana è stata fondata dai Romani, cosi come Postojna (Postumia).
Pietroburgo).
The Asburgic one, the red one... and now? what's your flag now, a mount or a big shit? and what will be the next one? LOL!!! You are southern slav without an important history and reasons to exist, without consistency.
lmao. you think you are italian but you are an arab, a greek and a slav. just look ta yourself. you are small, dark haired and dark skin. hahaha! just like any southern SLAV! you have nothing in common with the ancient romans. now go make your pizza!
????? Ohhh... Now we have an anthropologist here! Moron, the Italians are a mixture of races since the ancient times (the same was for the Romans). Recently two important italian anthropoligists made a research about the origins of the Etruscans, and they used also the dna of the present inhabitans of italian cities like Volterra, because they are certainly the descendants of the Etruscans. Who are you to say we have nothing to do with the Romans?
2)Everybody knows we are foundamentally a mixture between the ancient ITALIC populations, that is also the Romans, and GERMANIC races (Ostroghots, Lombards, Normans), that invaded the paeninsula after the collapse of the Roman Empire. No slav in our blood, moron. We have nothing to do with the slavs.
3) The ancient italic dna runs also at the present in our veins. Ah, I often look at myself... well, I'm 1.83 metre high, I'm slim, my skin is very light, my hair is brown, my beard is brown with red reflections, and my eyes are great and blue: nothing in common with your stereotyped description of the Italians, you goat.
Does anyone know what's the contribute from Slovenia to the rest of the world or at least to Europe? I don't know if a nation more useless exists. What's the reason of this southern slavs near us? To cause us vomit?
From 50's to 90's your economy was tottaly dipenedent of slovenian any yugoslav customers...now that we have better prices and nicer shops in slovenia, your economy will decay, you ignorant cockroach.
Our economy was TOTALLY dependent on slovenian customers?? LOL!!! I never heard this super cuck-up! Dumb, we are in the G8, in the Onu, in the EU. The entire world at the present considers Italy a great Power. Slovenia was, is and forever will be just a great zero.
italy a great power? lmao. the most ignorant nation in the world! you were a fuckin 3rd world country until the 70's you tard! and if it wasnt for the allies you would lose both world wars, fucktard. i clean my ass with your flag
I will use quotes from the English free Encyclopedia.
"According to GDP calculations, Italy was ranked as the seventh largest economy in the world in 2006, behind the United States, Japan, Germany, China, UK, and France, and the fourth largest in Europe. According to the OECD, in 2004 Italy was the world's sixth-largest exporter of manufactured goods."
Yes, we produce things like FIAT that is having a great economic recovery, but also ALFA ROMEO, FERRARI, LAMBORGHINI and MASERATI. Our food is the best in the world, all the nustritionists say MEDITERRANEAN DIET is the best, our oil of olive, our pasta, our wine have not rivals. Thank to our food we are healthy and long-lived. What say about our fashion houses, VALENTINO, ARMANI, DOLCE & GABBANA, VERSACE, GUCCI, PRADA, FENDI, ecc?
People from every part of the world come here to see our Italy, our Stivale, rightly nicknamed "THE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY". Beh, the day after tomorrow i will leave for Calabria to pass my holydais in a beautiful place on the beach, under our wonderful italian sun, in the centre of the Mediterannean sea...
Mafia at the present is in the entire world, idiot. You can remain among your stupid mountains crushing under foot vipers that will bite you. Besides the best part of Alps is in Italy :-))) I will go to my splendid calabrian mediterranean sea to take some bath thinking of you and your goats and of the practically inexistent slovenian coastline.. LOL.
loooooooool Sieg Heil!! \o

Another point: fascist repression was undoubtly BRUTAL, but the extent of foibas was worse. During fascism only a LITTLE part of slavs emigrated, while after 1947 from 290.000 to 350.000 Italians fled!! Just check MIXED slovene-italian historical commission. So... Will you say that we are all fascist supports to remember that tragedy?!
migumazza 2 years ago
@migumazza
no - people should remember tragedies. But the exodus of Italians pales compared to the exodus of Germans from present day Poland, Czech Rep, Serbia, Romania and Russia.
As for the fascist era, I think about 70,000 slavs fled. As for the 290-350k figure, that includes many Croats and Slovenes, who, like my aunts and uncles chose to live under the west and not under communism.
hrvatizistre 2 years ago
I welcome documentaries like this to see both sides. Anyway, the great majority of Italians don't praise fascists, they are simply tired to listen to some old lies and stupid mottos, like "Trst je nas" and Istria and Dalmatia of slavic history and culture. You were just A PART of it, neither the most important nor the most numerous (until habsburgic dominion). Before venetians, several towns and villages spoke old neolatin language. Please learn!!
migumazza 2 years ago
@migumazza

This was appeasing Croats for their anger at his success in the 1925 Treaty of Nettuno that forced Yugoslav government to allow Italians to freely immigrate to Dalmatia.
rfavro 2 years ago
That makes alot of sense. There was a decent size slav population in the southern part of Italy.

There are census records available on the internet from that period which shows the artificial increase of foreigners in Italian lands during Austrian rule.
ferraristallion 3 years ago

It's easy to see.
Capodistria, Pola, Fiume, Zara, Sebenico, Spalato, Perasto, Budua... all of them Italian cities.
ISTRIA and DALMATIA are Italian lands stolen by Austrians/Slavs.
Italia and whole Europe do not forget innocent Italians/Serbs civilians killed by Croatians/ex-Yugoslavians during WWII.
gab208 3 years ago

Disgusting backward people.

And then I'd like to smash his tomb to pieces, and use his skull for my dog's bowl.
elendil77 3 years ago
Only forgiveness brings you peace and I pray peace will be upon you. Never forget what happened to your people. It is awful. But the only way to break the chain of pain is with teaching peace. Teach what was done to you and never let it repeat. Violence only brings more violence. Don't you think it is time to bring peace?
Four2Da20 3 years ago
Italians I have already forgiven, however I will NEVER forgive fascist scum! And anyone adoring Mussolini will not get a glass of water from me, even if dying from thirst! I am not joking! Stop spreading pointless "peace" teachings. I reject collective guilt, but ALL fascists are to blame, even if they haven't been born back then. It's so easy to preach, when you come from the side that wasn't victimized. The only way to overcome all this is that Italy rejects fascism and revisionism.
elendil77 3 years ago
This is nothing but barbarian propaganda, dont believe it. Italians have been there long before the slavs invaded. Some idiot said we only there from 1914 onwards, ww1 ended in 1918 and that is when it came under our control AGAIN. You see before Austrians ruled it for only 100 years, Venetians ruled it for 500 years. After ww2 it was stolen by the slavs, hundreds of thousands of italians were murdered forced from their homes. That is genocide.

Austria ruled for over than 100 years if only they remained it would be better today all that happend after 1918 it was nothing but stupid nationalism and hate towards different nationalities which brought up more egzoduses, pain and suffering and is not over still today.. before Austria there was the french rule before that it was Austria also and before that was venice republic. and for your information the venetians are who encouraged the Slavs from the north/east to come live here
pulezan4 3 years ago
and it makes me wanna puke when some people keep yelling on the internet how slavs forbid you to live here, once we get to EU NO ONE will forbid you to live here! and as for "big" Croats and Slovenians who keep yelling this is their land since "CENTURY 9TH" there was NO Croatia or Slovenia before 1918 here! there was, Dalmatia,Venetia,Slavonia,Furlania.
pulezan4 3 years ago
this is all true entire Istria was italianized in 1918 people's last names, village names was forcefully italianized, croat schools burned down by the "squadristi" children were FORCED to attend italian schools,if they would remain at home, their parents would be forced to pay fines and extra taxes to the state also all newborns HAD to be named ITALIAN names, better learn some history from the "OLD LOCAL PEOPLE" before telling facts. my parents have lived through the horror oif fascism, and yours?
pulezan4 3 years ago
And for the record i hate NO ONE even if some people should NEVER be let into Istria again after their grandparents were involvded in slaughtering over 17000 Istrians during the fascist/nazi regime i will still open my door to them because we the new generation should tend to make this world a better place and not live in hate while NEVER forget what happened and NEVER let it repeat again.
pulezan4 3 years ago
@ferraristallion hey moron what does it mean that Italy should get back everything they had since Roman Empire including Middle East ? It was the Great Migration that brought Slavs to these areas. The Italian people has been tricked by Mussolini, as the Germans with Hitler. In those days everyone had to join the fascist party, or were tortured or killed by commandos called "black shirts". very good video. Unfortunately there is a denial in certain sectors of Italian society of the sins committed in their name. Our last name was Italianized, my relatives were beaten for speaking Croatian, my great uncle was killed by Italian fascists pre-WW2; another was killed in Dachau.

True, and now all italians come to slovenia to buy goods for half price.
marcbirc 4 years ago
and what' s the problem for this?
In Italy there is a lot of Slovenian persons for 1000 other things, it is totally crazy to think that can exist a "pure race", Serbian tried it too, and they found just 4 old men on the mountains, you have only hate in your veins, poor boys.

eljombi 4 years ago

eljombi 4 years ago
eljombi 4 years ago
1/1 Ljubljana è stata fondata dai Romani, cosi come Postojna (Postumia).

LOL!

When you fucking southern slavs will restart to kill yourselves each other? Muahahahahah...
pandemonio81 4 years ago
The Asburgic one, the red one... and now? what's your flag now, a mount or a big shit? and what will be the next one? LOL!!! You are southern slav without an important history and reasons to exist, without consistency.
pandemonio81 4 years ago
lmao. you think you are italian but you are an arab, a greek and a slav. just look ta yourself. you are small, dark haired and dark skin. hahaha! just like any southern SLAV! you have nothing in common with the ancient romans. now go make your pizza!
kjfgsfigsafbvsao 4 years ago
????? Who are you to say we have nothing to do with the Romans?
pandemonio81 4 years ago
2)Everybody knows we are foundamentally a mixture between the ancient ITALIC populations, that is also the Romans, and GERMANIC races (Ostroghots, Lombards, Normans), that invaded the paeninsula after the collapse of the Roman Empire. No slav in our blood, moron. We have nothing to do with the slavs.
pandemonio81 4 years ago
3) The ancient italic dna runs also at the present in our veins. Ah, I often look at myself... well, I'm 1.83 metre high, I'm slim, my skin is very light, my hair is brown, my beard is brown with red reflections, and my eyes are great and blue: nothing in common with your stereotyped description of the Italians, you goat.

Does anyone know what's the contribute from Slovenia to the rest of the world or at least to Europe? I don't know if a nation more useless exists. What's the reason of this southern slavs near us? To cause us vomit?

marcbirc 4 years ago
Our economy was TOTALLY dependent on slovenian customers?? LOL!!! I never heard this super cuck-up! Dumb, we are in the G8, in the Onu, in the EU. The entire world at the present considers Italy a great Power. Slovenia was, is and forever will be just a great zero.
pandemonio81 4 years ago

I will use quotes from the English free Encyclopedia.
"According to GDP calculations, Italy was ranked as the seventh largest economy in the world in 2006, behind the United States, Japan, Germany, China, UK, and France, and the fourth largest in Europe. According to the OECD, in 2004 Italy was the world's sixth-largest exporter of manufactured goods."
