  • which airlines is this??? who are the pilots...great job!

  • Great video and commentary. But just wondering, when passing 16,000 ft, it was still overcast and I assume it would still be IMC. At which point did the pilot become visual, and continued descent below MORA/MEA (or LSALT as they call it in other parts of the world)?

  • I'd rather see the climbout from take off.

  • Would love to see how this looked from the ground.

  • wow while its not the most dangerous i have ever seen its still pretty tricky one :P

  • wonderfull..... dam good job.

  • This is about the equivalent of some carrier ops God knows where. Kai Tak be damned.

  • WOW!

  • AWESOME jockying!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice landing pilot have balls to land there. wowwww nice

  • Pffft i would refuse to fly any plane that called me a retard during the flare! Gimme a Twin Otter anyday.

  • Click Here To Skip To The Landing Part >>> 6:19

  • can you imagine an emergency landing like a hydraulics failure.....you're instantly dead

  • i fly this rout every week and i love it,lol

  • Great video, now we need to see the take off!

  • fifty fourty thirty twenty retard retard ... five

  • Goof job! :)

  • at 6:56 the computer is judgding the pilots "fifty, fourty, thirty, twenty... RETARD... RETARD"

  • guess if there is overcast everybody has to turn around and try again later

  • very cool!

  • this is awesome..!

  • Fantastic clip. Nice place too.

  • Doesn't look that difficult to me.

  • @VichingoAlchemico Heh, just add there weather changes and wind conditions and time of the day... :) That was nice landing.

  • @Randomnick123 Nice landing, ok. But not at all the most difficult landing in the world. Do it IFR, with a small twin-engine and some icing... then it will be difficult. The problem is that airline pilots are used to a 20 mile straight-in approach so doing an s turn for them is "oh shit".

  • @VichingoAlchemico To go even deeper into facts, I think without camera there wouldnt be the 'o' shit' comment.

  • First thought I had on seeing the runway at 6:00; “someone put a bloody great hill in the way”, “missed approach!”, *reach for thrust levers*

  • Real dificult one by the way real dificult one.

  • Try Toncontin or Aeropuerto Juancho E. Vrausquin (Saba) or Courchevel (France) or Madeira (Portugal) or Lukla (Nepal) Kai Tak, Hong Kong (closed) or INSBRUCK

  • @FernandoEstebanEsteb this looks like innsbruck and toncontin in one

  • dont try this with airbus

  • @hurius Actually, it's an Airbus!!!

  • what if there is heavy fog formation? omg

  • absolutely good pilot...maladet...

  • 20, retard retard 5

  • Nice one, definitely needs a CAVOK day for that !

  • no thanksssssssss,,,,never fly below ground level lol

  • That was just amazing!!!!!

  • amazing job!

  • if you fly out of here on druk air they cut the passenger list in the summer as the aircraft can't get over the mountains as the air is thinner when warm so they take off in the morning!!!

  • CAN YOUR LIFE GET ANY EXCITINGGG THAN THAT!!!

  • well done

  • Screw that!!!!!!!! Not even if populated with horny virgins,,,,,well maybe!

  • Bhutan really IS isolated.

  • Nice, but this is A319

  • I've perfected this landing in my A 340. Can't wait for the new microsoft flight sim this year.

  • @slavik626 I think it won't be better than fsx...

  • Hats off to all the DrukAir pilots !!!!

  • Amazing landing!! 0_0 b

  • Pretty sure around 6:20 you hear, "oh shit" hahahaha

  • @arthurkitchen Yea man.. I heard it too ! :))))

  • @GJv0179 Maybe is "holy shit" :)

  • Comment removed

  • The plane was..... and where is Bhutan...?

  • 6:00

  • badass landing

  • Wow! I think I just witnessed Disney's next adventure ride!

  • What if the metro conditions are degrading and visibility requires IFR and CAT I or worst CAT III when close to the airport? Are the planes loaded w/ enough fuel to go back or reach a more suitable airport?

  • wow!!! kai-tak + shangri-la...can't get much better (actually would find this more exciting than kai-tak)....and, remember, this is not a a dornier or dehavilland prop but an a320....the pilot or narrator makes it sound like it's his first time in there; if it was, bet his adrenaline was pumping and the dopamine bouncing off the walls, and he's smilin' like a motherf**ker. and this is in good weather.

  • a320 has steep approach license?

  • anybody else say "wtf" when they saw where the runway was? lmao thats crazy

  • RESPECT!

  • Wow. Absolutely amazing approach for a a/c as large as an A320.

  • landing starts at 7:00

  • great landing maybe next time buy a widescreen camera.

  • looks kinda difficult - a bit like Innsbruck ( LOWI )

  • WOW, thanks for sharing!! Unbelieveable these pilots do this everyday!

  • OMG!!!! i wud have dead if i was on that flight!!!

  • That was an amazing approach and landing. Now I would like to see the departure.

  • @silverdollarinvestor you can watch this one ... watch?v=cZCllDaP-YE&feature=related

  • wow thats an amazing pilot

  • OMG! Glad the pilots do the flying thing for me as traveller . .

  • do they set SEC1 to off on such landing?

  • i think the approach must be funny for the pilot but i xould hate being at the back surrounded buy mountains and unable to see xhat happen in front of me

  • Wow!!! Nice!

  • Woah! Check out those rubber marks all over the tarmac. NASTY!

  • @gudknight It's the same as every other runway that lands fast/heavy aircraft...?

  • @j4cko56 True. But the braking is heavier here, isn't it? Of course, I could be wrong here. Just guessing.

  • @gudknight No, the tire marks are made from the touchdown, not braking, if you have to lock the brakes and skid to stop, the aircraft shouldn't be landing at that airport...

  • @gudknight That is in fact, a pretty clean runway, go to Heathrow or an international airport, the runway will be black with touch down marks...

  • excellent pilots!

  • Hot damn!!

  • amazing approach

  • insane!

  • only airbus calls there pilot ritard on landing

  • @mishakiler no, only fly by wire aircraft calls the pilot a retard lol...The Beoing 777 has fly by wire and also says retard

  • Ladies and gentlmen please enjoy your stay and avoid tripping over the pilots balls on the way out.

  • @dallaspowerlifter Hilarious. And Ladies and Gentleman, the long cylindrical thing you see in the aisle is the pilots big dick, please step over it, not on it. Thankyou for flying Big Dick Airlines.

  • nice approach. just like kaitak

  • very standard final :D

  • Very Smooth.. nice pilot

  • they should make all the planes say recall so we wouldnt have all these imature ppl

  • Fantastic...oh I found Retard on Google Earth...it's in the U.S.....

  • where is the airport ??? name of it please

  • @01261988733 yeah!!! this airport is Paro Aerodome ,Bhutan

  • Dude check my landing video cockpit view (landing in thailand)

  • Comment removed

  • That is insane. They can't even level out the wings until they are over the runway! Whew, I can imagine sitting in the back looking out the window...uhh...where is the runway?...

  • oh yeah I have a PPL and that is truly the hardest approach i have ever seen preformed. there is no second chances on that landing the fAA will probably have that hillside removed because a down draft on that final turn in would prove fatal a more straight in approach would be ideal. First class flying!!!!

  • @lee777ish

...except this isn't in the US, so the what the FAA wants is irrelevant.

  • すげぇ・・ 6:40秒辺りからの外の景色とかほんと墜落って言っても信じちゃうぞ、これ。

  • I would say the most difficult landing would be on Lukla in Nepal or the Island: Sba in Carribean, but this was a verry difficult landing i see :)

  • Where do you get charts for this airport?!

  • WOW...yes, certainly has my vote for the most difficult landing in the world.

  • For those idiots who never paid attention during class.... retard basically means to slow down, or decelerate... not the kind of retard you use when you curse people -.-"

  • @AbsolZero000 its regard you retard

  • @mrdiamondback1 You're the retard here. It is RETARD.

  • @mrdiamondback1

    It's "retard" you retard.

  • @mrdiamondback1 *facepalm*

  • @AbsolZero000 I don't think you paid much attention either because 'retard' means set engines to idle because aircraft like the A320 with fly by wire, the thrusters do not idle automatically when the reversers are engaged as there are no cables :)

  • @AbsolZero000 I read your comment before watching the video. I couldn't help but l chuckle when I heard it.

  • @AbsolZero000 The computer saying "RETARD" simply telling pilot to pull the throttle right back that pull the throttle to IDLE ... just before flare followed by landing ...

  • Superb flying! :)

  • what does retard mean

  • @cantollie324 Retard speed, or slow down.

  • @cantollie324 it means idle the engines

  • who would put an airport there? what in the fuck?

  • What a perfect location for an airport. Whoever thought of placing the airport in this location is a moron..

  • Really enjoyed the video.. thx.. and kudos to the Pilot..

  • sick landing

  • WHERE IS THIS PILOT FROM ?? HE'S AWSOME !!

  • Amazing flying!

  • I will tell you what, that landing seems to have everything wrong with it instinctive it can, your gut tells you something is wrong about every moment of a landing like that, from the initial approach entry to touchdown. It seems to be the closest to the exact opposite of a normal landing and still be normal you can get.

  • INSANE!!

  • Amazing! !

  • To all those asking, the FMA yells out "Retard Retard" to tell the pilots to cut (retard) the throttle to idle. This is necessary for 2 reasons: 1) during the flare, so the plane doesn't start climbing again, and 2) unless the throttles are in idle, the auto spoilers won't auto deploy, which can be dangerous if the runway is wet or slippery. The pilot wasn't doing anything wrong; the time you cut the throttles vary on location and weather, but the FMA unfortunately always goes by radar altitude

  • 8:58 RETARD?!?!

  • @PHSWAGGERZZ No dude. RECON RECON RECON

  • Clearly a Pilot must have pissed off an Airport planner ;)

  • That is a hard landing. But personally I think Lukla is much harder

  • Awesome footage, thanks for the post, and as allways, THANKS TO THE PILOTS!

  • One thing that I wondered about was the Operating Weight of the airliner, at the time of landing. If it was empty, and one hour of fuel aboard, then this landing, would have been easier to do.

  • @Geoffr524 There is no fuel service in Paro so the plane needs about 3 hrs of fuel at landing to get to its next destination.

  • i could easily sense the struggle which pilots were facing just after landing to stop this airbus 320

  • You gents have balls of lead. Surprised you met the weight limit of the 320. Some masterful flying and composure there with no visual sighting of the runway. I cannot imagine what it would be like in fog. OMG. Not a pilot but seem to recall an absurd landing approach somewhere in Peru. The pilots banked and pulled so hard to squeeze the aircraft between the mountains where the runway was nestled. Felt like we were dropping on a knife edge turn. Ridiculous. Awesome vid.

  • Uh ... fuck that! There ought to be international coalition of pilots who gets to write letters to countries like this, along the lines of : "Fuck you guys, you don't get airplanes unless you promise to build a proper airport without mountains on it".

  • And History Channel did not see fit to even rate this as a top 10 dangerous airport?

Is this not a large enough traveled airport to rate? Other than that fact, someone will need to explain why not a top 10, cause this looked pretty wild.

I assume takeoffs are just as much fun too??.

  • @CAL2177 bingo

  • They couldnt find any place more difficult to land? Seriously, that would be scary as a passenger if you didnt know what you were in for.

  • Best job in the world

  • am I the only one who is starting to get annoyed with people going "hahahah the plane called the pilot a retard!!!"

  • @manifestgtr That is why they are called Generation Stupid.

  • @manifestgtr lolz i was thinking the same thing

  • @manifestgtr

BWAAAAAAAAAaaaaaahahah the plane called the pilot a retard!!

  • @manifestgtr - Nope you have company...ignore them for they know not what they sayeth

  • @manifestgtr it says "retard" when the pilot has almost made touchdown and it is time for him to get ready to reverse thrust

  • Jeasus H. Christ; With all the aviation regulations in place, how in the name of all that is holy, did THIS airport slip through the net and get approval. Either they have paid a 'backhander' to some regulator or, (until this video appeared), it was a closely guarded secret. I have the DVD of extreme airports and THIS little beauty NEVER featured on it....

Seriously though; This is the most extreme landing area I have ever seen, and testement to the pilots skill. Great footage.....

  • It´s like an approach to Anchorage (?) airport in Alaska...

  • shit, A320 had to be...

  • Bravo! A master at work!

  • What a amazing landing just amazed how close to they get to those houses a hard landing that is for sure flying towards a mountain not for faint hearted

  • wwwoooowwwwwwwwwww

  • earthquake when he landed

  • true flight, no bus, no button up, down, beautiful rewarding excellent

  • Very good work, and know this,,,,very few people can do this! These gentlemen should be compensated for their skills. They deserve it, and have earned it...;

  • Outstanding Pilot Skills!

  • kung fu pilot!

  • What happened with the sterile cockpit!

  • what airline is this

  • @1969hhg Druk Air

  • Rather go via car..

  • Absolutely no flight deck I hate more than this awfull nightmare

  • Very Impressive....for an Airbus

  • Amazing Pilot, awesome landing, and thats what you call first class seating!

  • will try this in a simulator---probably in a beechcraft baron

  • @karma4hispeople Um...I think I'll go with a 172.....
