@SavageBeastVids Thanks Wayne for the comments and you def sound like a REAL Old School PG County person and I will find your FB page and add you as a friend. I am always looking for old MD or PG county stuff and although many people tell me they will send me old pics they have, I have only received ONE photo so I pretty much do it alone. I lived in Lanham from 1950-1972 and graduated DuVal class 68. I will def look for you on FB. Thanks again. Bill Blythe
@SavageBeastVids Hi again Wayne, have been searching facebook for Wayne Mills from NW High and cannot locate you. You can find me with name Bill Blythe and my profile pic I am wearing a blue flowered shirt. I also looked up savagebeastvids on Youtube and that doesnt indicate that is you so help me find you LOL
You did a wonderful job on this video, my sister found it and forwarded it to me. My family moved to P G County in 1962 and I was the last of my family to move away 6 years ago, when we relocated to Texas. My siblings and I are all Bladensburg HS graduates 1974, 1979, and 1981 and my husband as well, 1971. It brought back so many good memories and some tears as well! Thank you so much. Paula, Mineola Texas
@MattShadeKicking Thanks for those nice comments and i have enjoyed the many hours of searching to find the old PG county photos. I left there in 1982 and also relocated to Houston Tx til 2002. It started out with a 5 minute video sent to my graduating class on Facebook then everyone was forwarding/sharing with others and i found more and more photos and suddenly it got close to 20K views plus so many nice comments. Am glad it brought back those memories for you..
Hello and that picture was posted by someone in the Lanham/Seabrook 4 Life facebook page. I am positive I got a message either on facebook or on my youtube video asking this same question and not only did i respond but I sent that picture enlarged to you..Sure hope it didnt get lost in cyber-space but if you tell me WHERE to send it, I will gladly send the picture to you or an email address so just let me know.
from college park and am very curious as to where you found the 'Seabrook American (Amoco) photograph. Skip (Fat d'Skip), the owner (pictured in the center), was my father. and this is the first I've even seen of this. Great Video!!!
Weiles was superb ! That whole area had pony rides, and roadside farm veggie stands. It was a golden era, and I wish I could turn back the clock in some ways. I haven't been able to find a picture of Hyattsville theater, or the polar bear frozen custard in Hyattsville/Riverdale.
I am a Prince Georges County fan from way back and also interested in community planning. I am interested to know why so many communities in Prince Georges County had as part of their name "Heights." I have to think this is a unique occurrence for it to be repeated so many times in naming. Thanks for this post. Boulevard Heights, Hillcrest Heights, District Heights, Berwyn Heights, etc.
Thanks so much for the memories. Grew up in W Lanham Hills and graduated from Bladensburg High, alot of my old hang outs on this video. Wish I could go back and enjoy the old days again. Again thanks so much Bills Hardware brought back alot of memories of my Dad.
Thanks so much for the memories, I forgot about alot of these places What a great trip down memory lane, so wish I could go back and relive it all. I grew up in W Lanham Hills, would u by any chance have a pic or the elementary school? It was good to see the old Bladensburg High where I graduated and all my old hangouts. Thanks again.
these pictures made my jaw drop and made me wet around the eyes a little bit, thank you so much for posting this. even though most of them were before my time they were still awesome to see --- lifelong PG resident, grew up in Hyattsville in the 80's and 90's.
Class of 1967 Bladensburg High School....WONDERFUL PG county tribute thank you ever so much. I was born in Bethesda and lived in Greenbelt and Kentland area. So many fond memories wish we could go back in time...Brought tears to my eyes seeing so many familiar places. Wish you could come up with photo of the skating rink in Bladensburg. Thanks again
@colalogos1227 Thanks for the comments and in reference to the Bladensburg skating rink, I have found 2 old pics of the fire when it burned down I think it was like 1975 or so. If you send me an email I have made a 3rd version of the video that is now 17.5 mins long and has those skating rink pics in it. The show is too long to upload on Youtube so I have it on a different site. email me at billb@sunline.net Thanks again
Sending this to my son so he can get a better idea where Mom and Dad grew up. Parents moved fr DC to Lanham in 64, I went to St. Mary's in Landover Hills, then Elizabeth Seton High in Bladensburg where I met his father (the school bus driver!). Hung out at Jerry's near Peace Cross and Fairlanes Bowling Alley by Capital Plaza. After we got married we lived in Cheverly, just a little bit up the hill from the Cheverly Theater - $78 a month for an unairconditioned apt. Thanks for the memories!
@SandyR4251 Thanks for the nice comment Sandy. I tried hard to locate an old Jerrys Hot Dog picture but had no luck. Is awesome that so many people from PG county are forwarding/sharing with so many others and the video is being enjoyed. I left Lanham so many yrs ago myself and $78 for an apt sounds about right for those days.LOL
@venicebill - It's funny, but I received the link to the video from both my high school class prez and someone from the grade school. I sent it to my "little sister" from high school days (when we became juniors, we were assigned someone from freshman year to help them through their first year) as well as my son. Loved all the photos, but the music was great too. They fit together well. Can't wait for your next one.
WOW !!!!!! what memories you brought back. My favorite is Landover hills McDonald's I was less than 5 years old (strawberry milkshakes) yummmmmm!!! Thanks
For just under 13 glorious minutes I was able to revisit my childhood, my teen years and where I took my own children so many years later. So many memories, so many things that will never really be forgotten. Thank you so much for the trip down those long lost roads.
@HallMcKoy51 Thank you so much for those very kind words, that gives me great pleasure knowing that video touched you like that. P.S. I am getting more pictures and in the near future will have to make a 3rd version. Thanks again.
The Alamo Resturant on Kenilworth Ave. in Riverdale would be great to see again. They have been in business a long time and still operate at the same location. I used to go there for lunch when I worked at Palmer Ford in Hyattsville.
Thanks for the memories. I remember the thin, flakey, oily square pizza from Ledo's in Lane Manor/Lewisdale. Do you remember the duck pond? Remember when PG Plaza caught fire? I remember cruising the Mighty Mo in Queenstown on Friday nights. The Rendevous Inn and the Varsity Grill near MD University. Those were some great days! Sneaking into nighttime football games at Northwestern Sr High in Hyattsville. Chris P.
@MrChrispy109 Thx for the comments and Yes I remember all those great things. Wish I had more Hyattsville photos for those that are asking for them but I simply cannot find any. The only thing I didnt do was "sneak in" to the night games at NW--we had to pay but was only like 50 cents. What fun times back then.
Thanks Bill ! I came to Hyattsville in 62 and later became a C&P installer/repairman all over the county so I remember so much of the pictures. I know Greenbelt like the back of my hand and ran wire way under the buildings there. I must of went to over 50,000 homes and stores. Put over 75,000 milles on my Van. Went to Nicholes Orm Jr. Hi. As a walker we went to the bowling alley and the PG Plaza. From dating to working I was all over PG County. I was there for the 60''s and 70''s. Tom "Stoney"
@campmcdermitnhatrang Thx Tom for those comments and sounds like a record for number of miles and homes you wired LOL Is so nice to hear from those that go back to the 50's, and 60's in PG County and to get so many nice comments. Thx again.
This was fabulous! Grew up in Seabrook went to DuVal grad in 1971; my group hung out at Glendale Golf Course with the Shields:) What great memories - brought tears to my eyes - my brother grad from DuVal 1966 and I will send to my family members some of which are still there. Still get home from west coast a lot as I am very nostalgic -Thanks so much this was terrific!!! Julie Day
@iBikE122096 Thx for those nice comments and am glad it touched you like it has done for so many I am finding out. Oh yeah, Glendale golf course and my memories of caddying and playing back in 1960 as a kid. We knew Ray, Roy, Hinky, Johnny and my ex wife was good high school friends with Pam. Was nice to hear from you.
Bill,...my name is Kris Dunn.I Graduated in 1967 from Du Val HS.You signed my 1966 Yearbook.Under your signature, you wrote "68".I am "assuming",I met you through one of the guys in the 1968 Graduating Class who was also,a friend of mine.Maybe,Jimmy Morrison or Mark Hall? In my "66" Yearbook, you mentioned that,I went on "Too Many, Triple Dates".Maybe, that will help you remember who,I am?
@dunnk1967 Ok I now know who you are however, for the life of me I am trying to figure out how we knew each other in "66". Either (A) we had a class together but it would have had to be either pys ed or spanish or a music class since we were different grades OR (B) you were maybe dating someone from my class or we had mutual friends but I didnt hang with Mark or Jim back then. At least I remember you and now I willl keep trying to figure out HOW LOL Thx for the comments again.
Thanks for the time you put into this, it brought back a lot of fond memories, grew-up in Landover Hills and still live in the conty so because of work and family I still drive by a number of sites some still there and others have changed or been torn down Rolling Pin is till the place to go for out of this world baked goods!!!!
@rapasciu Thanks very much and it pleases me that so many people share your same sentiments. I know it always makes me feel better when I reflect back to the good ole days.
My God,...so many places,I have forgotten! Thank's Bill, for showing me and reminding me, of the many, many places,I had frequented in my younger years and have since, forgotten after,"All of these years"! Oh,by the way,we both attended Du Val, HS. I have a page in my 1966 Yearbook which, you signed for me! Kris Dunn
@dunnk1967 Thx for the nice comments and I signed your 66 yearbook??? may i ask what your name was back then to refresh my memory?? This is a first--someone I actually signed their yearbook commenting here Lmao
