Oh my God...thank you! I'm American but studying in London, so I was too thru when I couldn't find a showing here. But, I'm still sad I gotta wait over a month to see it...damn lol!
Yes i know isn't fair we have to wait so long, but it'll be worth it. Their will be a Q&A on the night with the filmmaker(not Chris Rock) and i believe some kind of after party. Should be an interesting evening.
He shoulda made a movie about Paris hilton, britney spears, jessica simpson's & Aubrey of danity kanes weave while he was at it making it seem like weave belongs to sistas only.. PLEASE. As many black women their are that wear weave, there are those who don't & when they take it out like tyra, they still have hair underneath. Kill the stereotypes please.
That's wut I mean. How do u kno they're wearing their own hair?People just assume their hair is naturally straight r curly when thats why sum of them get perms 2 curl their hair & some of them flat iron & straighten their hair that aren't naturally straight.they jus don't accused of doin it 2 b anything other than wut they r bcuz they're white. Why can't we try a differnt HAIR DO without bein accused of wanting a white look? It's called a hair style not a race change.
Just to chime in a little lol. I get what you're saying. But, there is a long running stigma in our culture that no other ethnicity deals with. It's beyond, 'like...I feel...like being blonde, omg.' Y'know? Black hair IS political, whether people want to admit it or not. If it's relaxed you're sometimes judged for 'not keepin' it real,' if it's natural, 'y'know they ain't gonna hire you?' When an issue is born out of hate, it will most likely be a long running issue.
I agree with what you're saying, too many of us think we can compare our experience with other women outside of our race. The fact is we have deep rooted issues which go back to slavery. At what point in our lives did we seek councelling (sp) for post traumatic syndrome we suffer due to slavery. Some of us have mended and/or mending but there still remains a hell of a lot of us who are in denial or just don't know why we are the way we are.
y would we want to wear a weave with our own hair texture, thats dumb, u mite as well just leave ur hair as is. and on only about half the ppl that wear weaves wear human hair. some of it is synthetic. plus if ur hair is straightened or relaxed wearing a weave that is also straight would be ur hair texture.
Just for the record blk women can grow long hair, But most of us damage our hair and dont look after it properly. Heres are just some things that can be done:-
1. Keep it in its natural state(i.e no relaxers, perms etc)
2. Wear a silk head scarf or have a silk pillow when sleeping at night.
3. Eat the right foods
4. No chemicals, only natural products on hair
5. No heat
Have people ever seen a black person with dreads? Im sure they have the longest hair out of all hair types.
These are the type of movies that keep african americans thinking negatively about themselves because ALL black women don't wear weave, OTHER races DO where weave.. INCLUDING white women & every black female don't get relaxers. Every black person with nice hair hasn't had a relaxer there are black women with very long hair. Any boyfriend I have can run his fingers through my hair because it's LONG & REAL like alot of other black women & that's what Chris should be telling his daughter.
I don't know. I've only seen black women with long real hair every once in while, and a lot of the times they were mixed. I think a majority of us have short hair if there's no weave in it, because of how hard if can be to get it to grow long without breaking.
i think it depends on how u care for ur hair, genes, food u eat, ur health. i find that after i stopped perming my hair it grows alot faster and its healthier. with the perm, my hair was always breaking. it overall just depends on u.
ppl dont think negatively about themselves cuz of a movie, they do it cuz they want to. it nice that u have long real hair, but clearly as u can see(or maybe u cant) there is a stigma that is surrounded by black hair, and obviously his daughter feels like she doesnt have it. there are black ppl that dont wear weaves but there are some that do. the movie is not sayin that all black women wear weaves, he's tryna find out in some way why they the ones who do wear weaves, wear them in the first place

Is your hair breaking now? If you spent more time being a man's helper then your hair wouldn't fall out....

ummmm.......can u clarify what u mean by your comment?
scs08 2 years ago
I mean Less stress means your hair won't break. Become the helper of man as GOD intended for you to be and you wont be stressful.....
