the fan test isnt approved by sony. it will just overheat your system by making it the fan spin faster.

This is dangerous for your PS3. Even if your not doing it for long over time many fan tests like this will build up the damage. the way i do it is take an electrical air pump and run the air stream through my vents for a bit and let all the dust come out. does the same thing as this method only not harm to your ps3

This is not recommended only Fan test/Override eject is on later PS3 fat models you turn off the system with the switch then hold down eject and flip the switch back to on still holding down eject the PS3's fans will get loud and if there is any disk stuck in the drive the PS3 will over ride the main system to try a force eject. Never do what this guy is showing as heat rises so turning the PS3 upside down will make any heat rise up to the board.

first off there is no fan test....your blocking the air vents....and never leave the unit on its side....as it heats up the thermal paste on the heat syncs will thin and start to run out....once so much of the paste disappears your unit is bound to red light

That happened to me mate, i managed to fully restore the console but in the end had to send it back. I never knew about this whole getting the dust out with a ' fan check ' ( which i will do if my ps3 starts acting up ) Just send it back to Sony or play around with it by pulling it apart and cleaning everything.

ight first of all it only freezes if u sit there and leave it on while not playing second of all im going through it to and itz becus when u play all day when your ps3 has alot of dust then youll be only playin a full match then once you get to the mid the audio freezes and it will eventually freeze at the end of the match becus it will stop reading the blue ray disk then when you turn it off the ps3 will not read any becus the dust is eventually on the blue rays hand vac vents
