@jwmellott You know, you make a good point. But this album came out a year later. Sgt. Pepper's had already been out 6 months by the time this was released. And After Bathing At Baxter's came out a month before this.
Entwistle's bass on this song is SO weird. I mean, everything in the song is weird - but the pounding, pulsating, constant quarter note bass just doesn't change when I expect it to. It throws me off EVERY time and it's so cool. I wonder if Entwistle recorded a bunch of notes onto tape and then quantized it (i.e., cut the tape with a razorblade, rearranged the splices, and taped it back together). It wouldn't surprise me, they were definitely into the tape effects and sound manipulation stuff
They say perception is reality. However, one can't ignore the fact that this song was recorded in the 60's during a phase of intense artistic creativity, to include conceptual as well as tangible subject material. In this instance, ACITS would have to seen (or located up there somewhere) as an inspired but fictitious figment of songwriter Speedy Keene's wild imagination, chemically altered or otherwise.
"radio london", 1967 sublime , remeber me a lots of mod things!!!! l' album psychedellique ultime "sell out"!!! qui malheuresement lors de sa sortie n' a pas eu le succes mérité, a pars "i can see for a miles"qui a surtout marché aux usa, pete s 'est alors concentré sur "tommy" sorti deux ans plus tard... thanks from a french old mod
I'm going to listen to this again when I come down and see how it sounds normal.

To me this song is 'Shapes of Things' and 'Tommorow Never Knows' rolled into one.

this is a great album, but the album cover is just plain weird.
HIMYNAMEISEVAN 1 year ago
@HIMYNAMEISEVAN Not really... I mean, it suits the album perfectly.
SecretTimeWarp 1 year ago
Exactly. It's about Armenia City in the SKY, not the Armenia former Soviet Republic on the GROUND. Big difference.
Stephanjnj 1 year ago
@Stephanjnj I didn't know there is a city in the sky called "Armenia"
