Entwistle's bass on this song is SO weird. I mean, everything in the song is weird - but the pounding, pulsating, constant quarter note bass just doesn't change when I expect it to. It throws me off EVERY time and it's so cool. I wonder if Entwistle recorded a bunch of notes onto tape and then quantized it (i.e., cut the tape with a razorblade, rearranged the splices, and taped it back together). It wouldn't surprise me, they were definitely into the tape effects and sound manipulation stuff

In this instance, ACITS would have to seen (or located up there somewhere) as an inspired but fictitious figment of songwriter Speedy Keene's wild imagination, chemically altered or otherwise.
