Osamu Tesuka is practically the only Japanese manga artist to make ANIME characters look like American cartoon characters, and that's why I respect his work, even though the stingy Japanese hate all copies of his work made by Americans like for example Robotboy, and My Life as a Teenage Robot. The Japanese hate those recent shows because they think that they are direct copies of Astro Boy.
I think it might have just been too hard to dub. I don't see a blackface resemblance at all though. o.O If anything, I see a Cheshire Cat(or however you spell it) reference. That menacing feline smile... And there's four of them. D: Kinda makes the skin crawl. Part of why I love this bit though :3
It was cut because NBC had to make an episode a week. Apparantly, the people singing in the English dub weren't very good so they couldn't rehearse. So to make it easier they cut the whole song. Sad isn't it? :(

@Par45 Lion king IS a copy of Kimba. There are to many similarities between the two works. It can´t be coincidence.

Umm... Actually, there's two hyenas in Kimba, three hyenas in Lion King. Also, there's 4 panthers in Kimba, but no panthers in Lion King. ^_^

No, Lady And The Tramp came first in 1955. Kimba came in the 1960's.
