  • Remind me next time I watch this music video to beware of siezures toward the end. It made me dizzy. ^_^

  • to bad shes a ugly lesbian

  • A signed copy of "Dreaming of Revenge" is available on KOPN's celebrity auction. Please support community radio by bidding today!

  • This music video is lovely!

  • My guess is if you posted a song with continuing cacophonous honking horns, fingernails on blackboards, and arm farts, with a video of a steaming pile of shit with flies buzzing around it, you'd get 500 likes, 23 dislikes, etc. If you like it you do. If you don't you don't. Why bother to register the negative, or have these silly arguments? In any case, I think Kaki King is wonderful! Endlessly creative and original.

  • Listening to Kaki's music is one of the things I credit to me surviving my time in the Navy so far.

  • i always knew this was good driving music.

  • That is so cool. I'd have never thought of that.

  • oh, lets play the same 5 notes over and over again for 4 minutes. oph and 20 seconds. another failure by kaki king.

  • @LloydRamsey We get it - you don't like Kaki King. You're following her songs on youtube and commenting negatively at every turn. If you don't like it, go elsewhere. You're bordering on obsessive. Your channel has nothing but dislikes for another guitarist . Otherwise nothing - no favorites, no posts...nothing! Why?

  • the beginning of the vid reminds me of little big planet at the intro! Way to go absolutely beautiful. sorry if i made no sence. lol blame it all on fast typing ...

  • This video made me wish I were a orange plastic car. Or a man floating in ink clouds. Or both?

  • 10 idiots!

  • I'm actually happy that the biggest names in music are people like Ke$ha and Justin Bieber or over-rated Hip Hop artists with lyrics about acquring lots of money and getting with lots of women. The reason that makes me happy is because it seperates the people who actually care about the real artistic value of music from the people who it really doesn't make a difference to. This is just music more at it's purest state and only some who truly understand it actually appreciate it. It is true art.

  • @wretchrow Actually, it is real music. Those people have different music tastes. Hip Hop and Indie are both music, and we should respect that. Yes, it is shallow, but it is still music, and its shallowness is what makes it its own kind of music.

I love Kaki, but poeple have the right to like different music

  • @SugarSpellItOut24 Well looking back I do suppose you are right. I can't understand how someone else feels listening to a song. Only that specific person knows their own feelings and understands what makes the music they listen to great to them. You are completely right.

  • 10 ....putos, estupidos, ignorantes..!!!

  • "There are guitar players that are good and there are guitar players that are really fucking good...then there's Kaki King" - Dave Grohl

  • Kaki King makes life being what it is.

  • Mad props.. Well done. "Plink Plink Plunk Plunk" the notes will resonate through out my day... very well done...

  • I love kaki.

  • I really wonder what she was thinking as she wrote this song.

  • @Kent1261 shes soaring the cosmos dude

  • kaki makes my face tingle. i love your passion!

  • I am amazed by the sheer beauty of both audio & visual art of yours, miss.

  • I don't like music videos with lyrics. I just realized I like instrumental vids.

  • If we're going to have another century of guitar, then this will soon be referred to as "classical"!

  • So real!!!....sometimes music is not a commercial way to have money but a way to see the life and i love it!!!!

  • I went on a trip with my schools band and this song was playing the background of some local weather station when I turned on the tv in the hotel. I immediately recognized it and told my friend in the room "this may sound weird, but i know and love this song." and started humming along with it.

    I love you kaki <3

  • This video deserves much more views, it's ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! :D

  • :'D

  • Kaki this peice is absolutly fantastic, there's something so perfectly feminine about it's texture and progression. the artistic concepts also acompany the mood this song establishes so well, and it's flow with the rhythme ties it to the song just as well!

I think what I'm trying to say is.. I liked this song :)

  • coooooool

  • This song could never end

  • this music is yummy in my ears

  • in my opinion it's a really random vid but I LOVE the music! I've been hooked on Kai King since I watched August Rush! He IS AMAZING!!

  • @ImAPuNpuNn

Kaki King is a female. The best female guitarist around.

  • @ImAPuNpuNn "she"

  • I think this is trying to say something about pollution. I'm not sure though

  • @emobeccaahha idk, i think it's this idea that the world continues on and on and the rotating rooster thing is the sun. and that one figure floating above all of the other ones is a God and towards the end he sends down disease and problems (as expressed by the food coloring and clouds), but in the end people keep moving forward (that's a reason why the cars drive on tape measures, it's an expression of progress and distances traveled).

I like your idea tho, it explains the name

  • You stole my heart the first time I listened to this song.

  • I just saw her on Jimmy Fallon. Great goodness!

  • Groovin' in my khakis to some Kaki King though.

  • There are no words to describe how awsome and creative your music is. Keep up with the fantastic job :)

  • it really depend on whethor or not your the artist who made it. My music is for me. Fuck everyone else.

  • kaki king being what kaki king is!

  • There's something about 5/4 that's at once both very groovy and very soothing.

  • i agree, tripped me up at first though.

  • will be there for the chicgo show

  • Italy,Pistoia Blues 2009 Wow! Is this Love?

  • REally wonderful Kaki... really! Thanks!

  • it's like it's showing how no matter how much we try to fix what we do to nature, we always end up screwing it up again and again....irony

  • I think it's about our affect on our surroundings. That's what I got from it.

  • Yes, that is also what i got from it, and it is a very good message to show the world.

  • what is the message here? its staring me in the face, but i just cant see it

i know shes trying to say something here

  • it;s not what the artist wants to say, it's what the viewer recieves silly! whatever you're diciphering that mysterious message to be, you're inarguably correct! tittyfuck the naysayers!!!

  • I dunno...as an artist I lean a lil more towards what "Numnumonmymballs" said...yes, a listener's interpretation can't be "wrong," but that also means that it can't be "right" - especially if the artist's sentiments about the song conflict with any listener's interpretation!

I guess I lie somewhere in between this train of thought!

  • Adoro este tema...Ela é o máximo! She's simply divine playing this theme...I will buy it. She deserves to be known!!

  • Wow, this is really good. Reminds me a little of Andrew Bird.

  • Uma das melhores coisas que eu já ouvi

  • Está no topo está :D

  • Beautiful

  • Excepcional. Deberías buscar a una chica mexicana que se llama Natalia Lafourcade, tal vez ya la conozcas. Gracias por existir.

  • There are still people who play music that's so good that there is no need to appear 90% naked on television. Respect Kaki King, love your work.

  • lol but the 90% nakedness doesn't hurt :P. no but seriously yes i agree she's amazing wish i was half as talented.

  • The music the naked play does.

  • @TerrierBram

There's quite a lot of that kind of music... Please look just a tiny bit further than mtv 1 and dance. :''')

Just a silly comment in general.

  • @Theinfinitethought Well if I guess my favourites proof overwhelming I do.

  • @TerrierBram

2009 Bonnaroo, hello? she didn't even wear a shirt.

  • @wgtroutman34 so mad i wasnt there...not because of the shirt thing actually. she fucking rocks. i was at bonnaroo this past year. i wouldve loved to see her perform.

  • @TerrierBram Exactly what I've been trying to point out to people since forever. Especially certain artists that become famous through Disney...

  • @TerrierBram what do you got against naked women, faggot!!!

  • @CaptainNensho Check, people with strong words and a loud mouth on tube have always no content at all on their channel. I guess u will never know what my sexual orientation is. Besides that, I wonder why u like to know, anyway.

  • @CaptainNensho They're called whores. Real men don't like them but I guess little boys do.

  • @TerrierBram um yeah, but there are a lot of other musicians who don't feel the need to do that either :S

  • Which 4 strings do you specifically refer to? I am a drummer, so I do not understand so much.

  • so original and amazing... and i love 5/4 time

  • lol so natural groove that i just realized thats a 5/4 when i saw ur comment !! eheh

    really creative stuff here =)

  • Wow, same here. Totally awesome.

  • i spy much?

    i love this.

  • reminds me of 80s King Crimson

    ...that's a good thing.

  • ★★★★★

  • i loooove this video. Kaki King is awesome. her song "Pull Me Out Alive" is awesome too!^^

  • this is beautiful! yey

  • 5/4 time! hell yes!

    Gotta love Kaki.

  • reminds me on little big planet ;) nice song and also vid

  • the video is awsome!

  • I like the song, but I'm not digging the video.

  • Gotta atleast say its creative as hell tho.

  • fantastic ^^ !!!!

  • just love it :)

  • hahahahaha

  • Shes so created with her music and her videos. More artist need to be more like that.

  • Or rather, Ingrid K Brooker is creative with her treatment for this song.

  • everything i've heard from this woman i've absolutely loved. her videos and her music are both absolutely spectacular. she's a phenomenal musician.

  • ...enjoyed was what I wanted to type...

but still at the 10th time of listening I love it

  • when she's on she fucking kills, when she's off she misses bad.

i still love her though, a few ingots here and there make me smile every time.

  • strange video

  • I simply enjouyed the harmony of music and video

  • Why can't people ever enjoy music without debating it to the death?

  • Wow, I say I dislike her and I create a shitstorm. The immaturity is amusing, I must admit.

First of all, the reason people leave disparaging comments on music videos is because they have an open mind and like to listen to new music. If we like what we hear we listen to more. If we do not, we use the handy comment feature to express our dislike. I see nasty comments on music videos I enjoy, but I do not insult the poster even when the comment is ridiculous and offensive.

  • 5/8 masterpiece thanks kaki *****.... MarkH :))

  • I like her music and how it inspires contemplation. I feel like I can wander much farther in the paths she creates in her music than I could on my own.

  • the one beofre the other

  • thats a fucking good comment

  • One of the TRUE artist I have seen and heard in my life time.

  • i would consider King to be one of the few artists who attempt to take music to another level, and i would also consider her to be one of the successfull.

I honestly put her up there with satch and vai in the sense of melody and harmony writing. and to form it with such an insightfull and artistic video.

hard work honestly pays off with this peice alone, Great job.

Also, if you a musician who thinks theres one way to look at music, you might as well change yoru name to yngwie

  • I agree with your comment completely, but I'm just curious how familiar you are with experimental music. Ever listen to John Cage and his contemporaries? There's plenty of them trying to take things to the next level... but successfully, that depends on your perspective.

  • well by using successfull i mean she looks at each peice as an individual, like if she were to use a standard rythm she would end up with a standard song, but this everything was knit picked and placed perfectly with alot of thought, and when i see other stuff that makes it into the mainstream its just a pile if blahhh. as for hearing other artists, thats kinda difficult for one who likes nearly every style of music. like theres just so many i dont even try to keep up with what people like

  • john cage is an artist. not a composer. he can't write music for shit. he CAN create interesting arrangements of sound that inspire thought outside of the musical realm. i'd prefer listening to green day in my car over john cage. and i HATE green day.

  • Honestly, I agree with you entirely. I just like hearing how experimentalists like John Cage compare to other non-mainstream acts for other people. I go to a school where right now it seems like most of the curriculum idolizes Cage and his contemporaries. Sometimes I'm intrigued; others I just want to shoot myself, but I just try to wash my ears out with pop music lol.

  • Sounds like you're in Cornish =). I couldn't get past my hatred for "avant garde" music and honestly felt like stabbing my ears out until I realized something... I dislike that the composers made their WHOLE piece about one new concept, but their concept was interesting. Bringing cutting edge approaches to a song that still has a strong impact on the typical listener can really bring out the point of those techniques.

  • You'll have to excuse me for my ignorance, but Cornish?

I know what you mean, I've started to think of avant-garde and experimental music as just that: experiments. I know they are fundamentally different styles, but its easier for me to think of such music as long examples of possiblilities.

  • This clip is really amazing... And the music... Well, it's Kaki king!

  • crap

  • such a sick concept for the video, I love it.

  • I'll take a look

  • i like ncrophagist, but don't you ever say another unkind word about kaki king. she is awesome

  • Necrophagist is awesome. But Psyopus... I like just a few riffs.

  • Just how narrow-minded do you have to be to come to this kind of video and compare it to artists from a completely different genre...

Sorry but you sir, are an ignorant elitist-prick. If you don't like it, don't watch it and even if you can't resist your urge to critisize it, at least do it in a constructive and appropriate way.

  • well said

  • Idiot. I consider Necrophagist as one of my top 5 bands, and let me say one thing:

Muhammed Suicmez of Necrophagist would laugh at you for your close-minded posts.

  • i think that you don't need to be playing a mixolidian c sharp scale at 568 bpm at a 19/24 time signature to be a good player or for a song to be good. necrophaist and psyopus are really good, but they get boring and they really have no skills in creating melody as well as all the other tech death bands. death metal is lame music for people that really don't know shit about it. so fuck you and the superlocrian scale.

  • and that relates to Kaki King how?

  • someone said that bands like psyopus were real tech band and kaki has no technique and such and that was my answer to that dude.

  • I happen to know for a fact that Psyopus writes 10 second riffs and puts them together to form songs. Whoever said that needs to die in a fire, Kaki King ftw.

  • i know i like kaki better but most likely someone did not get it

  • For sure, I understood what you were saying. Just agreeing.

  • Thirdly, as easy as it is to assume everyone who listens to metal is some sort of knuckle-dragging sub-human ingrate, this is not the truth. I do in fact listen to many genres of music, some of it in the "indie/experimental/whatever" genre Kaki King plays in. I will be the first to admit I am far from a scholar of music. That does not mean "metal sucks" any more than "indie sucks".

  • i honestly in all sincerity think you are wasting your time and msot other people's times by going so depth into something that is only an opinion. you have to remember there is a fine line between a legitimate and honest opinion over an ignorant sort of one, which are what many opinions are. the greatest opinions are what shape a society or a person and have a long lasting affect and promote a great idea or truth. most people on youtube dont get that. on that note, i think shes truly amazing

  • Secondly, comparing two genres of rock music is not that far fetched. This is in fact rock music or a very similar genre - I believe she calls it Post-rock or something. This is a woman who has been called a "guitar god", a title usually reserved for rock and metal musicians, and honestly comparing her to others is not that far-fetched. She is simply overrated.

  • i'm not very sure if you know this but....no one actually cares about what you have to say

  • What one says is only THEIR oppinion, and while I understand you are just trying to creat a conversation about what you think about her, you should be able to understand that everyone views music in a different way. Some people see Toni Iommi or Miyavi as a guitar god, it all comes down to the majority of what people say about said person's playing. And while you might dislike Kaki King, or the type of music she plays, the positive comments about her will be the only ones noticed.

  • you mean that one riff both of those bands share and play in different keys and then calling it different songs?

and you dare call us kids?

  • Finally, I will gladly say that metal songs are not anymore repetitive than the Kaki songs I have heard. Both are written around central riffs or themes that are repeated throughout the songs. This is not a problem, it is a hallmark of rock music since time in memoriam.

The upshot of all of this is that she is not as technical or innovative as everyone claims she is. I prefer other artists with greater skill and innovation, which is a legitimate claim that does not make her less of a musician.

  • In fact, I'd disagree with you about her being less technical. Especially if you've seen her play something like "Close Your Eyes & You'll Burst Into Flames" live. Comparing her to a thrasher guitarist who plays shredding solos is like comparing a defensive table tennis player and an NBA center: fingering speed is not the only thing that matters with guitar playing.

Innovation is a question of opinion, though I strongly disagree with you there.

Thanks for conducting the critique with respect.

  • You talk too much.

Just listen to the music. It doesn't always have to be about how goddamn well it was composed or how "technical" it is.

  • <3! It really works well with the song for me.

  • kaki king is marvelous!
