  • Whew... that was hard to watch this vid. So, that was a duckie inside and...

  • ahaha, my family eats this too, but we're chinese/vietnamese. it's good with a little bit of salt and pepper! (:

  • i had balut when i went to philipines.. not like that though, just crack it open, sprinkle some salt and vinegar in it and eat

  • is so good

  • Does it taste more like an egg or more like a meat, or neither?

  • @grimcity if you couldnt feel the texture of the chicken/ducks hair u would think it was an egg

  • @norik0

    Thanks!

  • it is amazing how ppl judge..and are rude on here! i think its so cool ppl can try new things and share it with us. so how about stop being rude! If you dont want to watch then dont!! Thanks andyzohoury for sharing!

  • @stormiec there are always retarded ppl in this world =/

  • Dude. I didnt mean to disrespect you or anything but fick you. Your a bitvh. If I ever run into you Im bratimg your weak ass.

  • @bkbbowling

LOLOLOL. Youre gonna beat my ass? Fuck you idiot.

  • @andyzohoury dont bother talking to the idiot, its a waste of time. nice vid ;)

  • this is such shit. He's acting like he is all world and it tste good. Bullshit. Sorry. I love in Vietnam. I have lived here for over two years and I will never eat that crap.

  • @bkbbowling

What? You dont know shit about my tastes. You cant speak for me, you only speak for your dumbass self. So fuck off you shit-eating troll.

  • @bkbbowling Just cause you won't eat it means nobody else can? I'm viet and live in america raised in the USA since i was 3, i'm 38 now and i love Balut lol.

  • all-time classic about awful food

  • I love balut. probably because i ate it since i was like 3. but ...soo good

anyway. thats a nice song at 2:13

  • @bboyflapps

Do they have this in Vietnamese restaurant here in the US?

  • they pretty much have it everywhere lol. you can get it at an asian grocery store

  • @bboyflapps

Really? Nice. I really want to try it even though it looks, to be honest, nasty...with little duck's head

I like roast duck meat. They are oily, but very tasty. I would assume that thing has a little duck flavor as well...so, it must be great

But, I'll try to reprogram my mind to think that it's just regular duck meat in an egg (I will remove its head..of course)..=D

One more question....How do they preserve this...The little duck would have rotten couple days after they died...

  • @bluecocoa7 you can buy them at asian markets

  • Hot vit lon <3 it taste pretty god.. i just don't like the duck, hahah

  • Everyone started out just same as you but within the next ten years you will say I like duck more than yock ... lol.

  • shiit, just close your eyes, when you eat this. I was so curious when I was little, I saw feathers and everything. MOM says " IT's OKAY Son, DON'T WORRY, IT'S GOOD ".

  • the first time i ate it, i was disgusted.

the second time i ate it, i liked it.

the third time onwards, i never fail to not eat it everyday.

    i love it! :D

  • vit lon taste very good if you have the right variety of ingredients. glad that you like it.

  • A friend who served military in Korea told me about these. He tried one and thought it was disgusting, but also said it is a delicacy. The appearance turns me away, and on his advice I am not sure I would have the nerve to try it. Maybe in the dark as you say. If I have eaten raw oysters and menudo, how bad could it be? Maybe some day. I did not see it offered in the Asian restaurants in Texas.

  • in the philliipines they usually drink the soup first... that stuff is the best!!! its doesn't taste bad at all but just the fact that there is a little embrio of a duck inside thats what throws off the people when they eat it....tips in eating balut is to eat it in the dark from what my relative say... taste like chicken soup but alot more better :)

  • those stuuf are awsum

  • yummy

  • Andy you rock with the fetal duck egg, Honestly, that is my fave food in Hanoi. love it with all the juicy melting down in the mouth.

  • it's call " trung vit lon"

  • same shit

  • Since everyones talking about what TV shows it reminds them of, your videos remind me of some show here in Australia on SBS where theres a woman who goes around trying many different foods.

Anyway...she tried this food-Fetal duck egg-and loved it...

I want to try what you try:P

  • I enjoy your videos. Do you ever watch Bizzare Foods with Andrew Zimmern? Reminds me of that :) I'm guessing the way the northern vietnamese eat balut is much different than the way i do. I usually crack it open on the top and sip out the juice, and then i put a lil bit of salt and pepper onto a spoonfull of the balut, and i chase it with a herb (don't know what it's called but it goes great with chicken)

  • yummy

  • Haha I am watching all your videos, pretty like the same as those shows I watch from cable tv, like Anthony Bourdain and so on...

I am going Viet soon, hope I get to try those stuffs.
