what he means is that google has been ineffective in developing their main product any further. there has not been any innovation or changes in google's search engine except for speed and information volume in the past couple of years. meanwhile apple has been growing and gained more control over the personal devices market. google's search engine's success is relying more and more on apple products. unless google does something about this, this might be the end google's success.

This entire thesis is based on a faulty premise that social media are

equivalent to "search" functionality. Dude, when I log in on social

media I'm not "searching" for information, I'm just checking in to see

what's there. It's the difference between opening a box and looking

for which box to open.

People don't search much with smart phones, they just use them to play

games and upload photos.

Google has peaked, just like Microsoft and IBM before it. Just like MS and IBM, we feared that a perpetual monopoly had been created. Just like MS and IBM, smaller, entrepreneurial innovators eroded their power.

As long as corporations are limited in their ability to buy monopoly power from the government, over the long run we need fear no monopoly.

But once the govt increases its power to grant monopoly in the marketplace, we are totally screwed.

Apple's products have caused technology to go backwards.

The fact that people now need special software & hardware in order to resources that used to be free & easy is just tragic.

The reason so few people use searches on iPhones is because IT STINKS, and it's extremley uncomfortable to do research on.

If I use a smart phone to send an instant message - this doesn't mean that web searches are obsolete. This guy is way off.

I think he's making an interesting point, but talking about Apple as "a little company from Cupertino" is silly. Apple was around for a long time, doing nothing except selling the tech version of Ikea furniture. Apple didn't redefine the world like Google has by investing an entirely new business. Everyone saw iTunes, iPhone and iPod coming, but no one had the engineering or capital to do it. But Google invented something new and built a new internet.

The only valid point I heard was that there are fewer searches on a smart phone than on a PC, which is somewhat of a valid point as that would mean less money to Google if people do fewer searches as a result of ditching their PC infavor of smartphones and tablets. However seeing as Google also runs Android, which is becoming more and more popular, I'm sure they'd survive a decrease in searches on the PC.
