what he means is that google has been ineffective in developing their main product any further. there has not been any innovation or changes in google's search engine except for speed and information volume in the past couple of years. meanwhile apple has been growing and gained more control over the personal devices market. google's search engine's success is relying more and more on apple products. unless google does something about this, this might be the end google's success.
Fora, could you guys spend just a little more time on science, like say genomics, paleontology, astronomy, and less on talking heads prognosticating? Or if you must, at least tell us how many predictions these guys have made, and how often they've been right.
I assume this guy hasn't noticed the MASSIVE success Android has had despite Google not even bothering to advertise it (at least relative to the constant trumpeting the iPhone gets).
Google has lost man, everybody is doing their searching on their phones now. And it's not as if Google owns phones or has any say over phone OS and hardware. Oh, wait they have Android and are a massive player there.
I don't know what this guy is selling, but I know whatever it is it must be absolute shit if the best he can do is pitch idiotness.
So he rattles off a bunch of social networking sites and equates them to Google search, this guy is trying to scare people into whatever HE his selling.
Sure a lot of the traffic on smartphone is for social networking sites but if you want to search for something other than what your friends had for breakfast you still use Google.
Google has peaked, just like Microsoft and IBM before it. Just like MS and IBM, we feared that a perpetual monopoly had been created. Just like MS and IBM, smaller, entrepreneurial innovators eroded their power.
As long as corporations are limited in their ability to buy monopoly power from the government, over the long run we need fear no monopoly.
But once the govt increases its power to grant monopoly in the marketplace, we are totally screwed.
Flawed arguments, cherry picking data and a cubic shit-ton of logical fallacies. Also, the way he speaks, reeks of corporate douchebaggery. I've read an article, somewhere in 2006, about how large corporations and some of these "venture capitalists" would LOVE to squeeze every dime out of content that was then classified "free" on the internet. Of course the idea was then considered laughable. But now, I'm getting a tad worried, that guys like McNamee aren't boo'd off stage asap...
Google is falling because they are censoring the internet. They are the NSA / DARPA rolled into one choke point of the internet. The only way to find anything is to google search it. Remove that you can't find anything. Wow exactly what the elite are wanting research SOPA.
Apple is the elites little baby because they got everyone to love their tracking chip aka the iPhone.

@Omegahybridx i believe he was involved in the deal with palm and hp buying palm...Not a fan of google business practices...but google is not done...gmail rocks...youtube rocks and google search rocks...android is a stolen product and i expect it too be good and bad for google...its makes 10's of billions of dollars so clearly hes not talking from a finance point...Microsoft windows will be done but still MS makes a lot of monies...even with a idiot running the company.
"Because search is falling, I believe that we're being liberated,"
he means, "Thank tiny baby jesus that you sheeple think that it is better to pay for something, that was essentially free, so you have less money AND less freedom. Isn't that great?"
ForaTV, over the past months I've seen one pseudo-intellectual spreading his logically flawed ideas, then another intellectually deficient individual expressing his biased opinion, then a business man with a hidden agenda flattering useless things. I know it's all about freedom of expression and sharing ideas, the rate of useless information based on assumptions in your channel is increasing and the current content doesn't really suit your audience.
I think he's making an interesting point, but talking about Apple as "a little company from Cupertino" is silly. Apple was around for a long time, doing nothing except selling the tech version of Ikea furniture. Apple didn't redefine the world like Google has by investing an entirely new business. Everyone saw iTunes, iPhone and iPod coming, but no one had the engineering or capital to do it. But Google invented something new and built a new internet.
This discussion is full of trolls offering no counterpoint or argument. Just a bunch of name-calling jackasses. That's the true end of the internet right there.
I would like to see the data please. Seems like a too farfetched argument but again I would like to see the data that shows a decline in Google-related products and that Google is indeed out of new technological emerging markets. I cannot do any further comments without data for my perception is exactly the opposite of what seems to be presented by this gentleman.
Err.. don't you feel silly posting this June-clip in December? You have to feel sorry for the guy talking about his 'facts' with hind-sight knowledge, isn't it? If the future belongs to smart phones, then Google is the future because it just so happens that Android sales are going through the roof... You can't even use an Android without a Gmail account and I have the Google search in my face when I switch my phone on first thing.
what a joke. Cherry picking data points, taking those points out of the context of usage and drawing ridiculous conclusions. A classic example of working backwards.
I can agree to the point that Google, like all companies, eventually fail when they can no longer provide a service/product wanted by the consumers, but the rest of this is just phony balooney my little pony.
The only valid point I heard was that there are fewer searches on a smart phone than on a PC, which is somewhat of a valid point as that would mean less money to Google if people do fewer searches as a result of ditching their PC infavor of smartphones and tablets. However seeing as Google also runs Android, which is becoming more and more popular, I'm sure they'd survive a decrease in searches on the PC.
Open source is about commoditization? I was in the fence from just seeing his credentials and title, now I'm yards away. This is marketing toward paying for what's always and should be free. Just listen to how he speaks so negatively and condescendingly about people who support a free and open Internet.

Venture capitalist, eh? To paraphrase an old saying, "A fool and his
money are soon popular."
This entire thesis is based on a faulty premise that social media are
equivalent to "search" functionality. Dude, when I log in on social
media I'm not "searching" for information, I'm just checking in to see
what's there. It's the difference between opening a box and looking
for which box to open.
People don't search much with smart phones, they just use them to play
games and upload photos.

Apple's products have caused technology to go backwards.
The fact that people now need special software & hardware in order to resources that used to be free & easy is just tragic.
The reason so few people use searches on iPhones is because IT STINKS, and it's extremley uncomfortable to do research on.
If I use a smart phone to send an instant message - this doesn't mean that web searches are obsolete. This guy is way off.
