who the fuck would dislike this. This song has so much meaning its like when i cant put what i feel in words she just does it for me. i love Alicia Keys <3
Maya Angelou is always the great poet I look up to. Alicia Keys is always the great songstress I look up to. It's people like them that save the world from "terrible and nonsense rhyme but somehow famous" syndrome.
I met Maya Angelou when she ccame to South Phoenix. South Mountain Rebels rule forever. Thank you for taking time out of your very busy and important life to come and educate me in high school. You are truly a master, and I knew it when I saw you in 1975.
This is a marvelous song written after the theme in the great Poetess: Maya Angelou, who wrote in the 70's "I know why the Caged Bird Sings." For those of you who don't know what a great poem that is should read itt on line and then listen to this song again! Alicia Keys has inspired me to play the piano even tho I don't have her lovely voice, I'll just have to get a singer. In ten years Watch Out:)

A free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream till the current ends
and dips his wing in the orange suns rays and dares to claim the sky.
But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage
can seldom see through his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing
The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom
Maya Angelou
