  • great performance!

  • @ovidiov

Thanks Ovidio. This is a marvelous piece of arranging. One of Paulinho's best, I think. So much to it.

  • The guitar sings once more, top notch, Tony!

  • @Socratease1

I actually like your instrumental version more than the vocal one :)

  • ugh you make me miss my nylon string so much

  • Tony,

To me this is one of your finer performances (out of many). 1:46 you display some amazing right hand technique. This looks like a bitch to play.

Excellent delivery as usual. I like this. 5*****

    Cheers,

  • awesome, your long hard work has paid-off on that one

  • this makes me proud of being brazilian, what a wonderful piece of music, and wonderful playing as always, i think you've got a brazilian soul man hahah!

I would love to see you playing claire de lune, it surely fits your amazing sounds

  • oooh, man, this is awesome! love the bass notes and the great rhythmic feel. such a great job.

  • PERFECT!!!

I'd like to buy a Taylor NS54-CE, but it was descontinued. Could you tell me about similar guitars?

    Cheers from Brazil!

    Leandro.

  • the other NS guitars in the Taylor family are outstanding too. I played one of them. It was the more expensive model and I really liked it but it was a bit over my head price-wise. i think it was a NS74 but not sure now. some years ago.

  • Thanks a lot!!!!

  • Hummm...it seems to be very difficult to find one of these nowadays. Nothing on e-Bay.

Any other sugestion about good guitars, please?

  • Terrible!

    You are great!

  • You are fantastic, but am I the only one who thinks this would make a great song for a Mario Video game?

  • Incredible...Great performance!!!...One of best...

  • Magnifico!!!!!! Eu mesmo tinha me esquecido o quanto esta musica é bela e ficou mais ainda na sua interpretação. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

    Per

  • thanks as always Peo.

  • Bravo Tony, another wonderful song beautifully played

  • Wow my friend. You are fantastic and inspiring. May I ask, do you teach? You seem to have all the qualities in your playing to be a professor of music.

  • thanks. i appreciate it. no, i don't teach.

  • ***** for your talent !!bravo this is superb !!!!

  • You rule troubleclef. That one put a smile on my face. A good bit of music should be like a drop of fine wine- it makes the heart rejoice!

  • Oh, the images that come to mind from this gem.

  • Amazing!

  • You are definitely a really skilled musician, every single video you post blows my mind

    Hats off sir

  • Another good one Tony, A finger and brain workout in both.

Lynn From Scotland (Winter Oh Bummer)

  • Wow, that was a finger flexing workout! Nice job!

  • You deserve 10 stars instead!

  • 1:15-1:18

  • i see what you mean. the syncopated thing in the treble with the step-wise descending bass is reminiscent of 'the entertainer'. good catch.

  • Top notch, troubleclef, that was an absolute joy to listen to!

  • thanks!

  • the first three chords that start this peice off are awesome.

  • yeah, that beginning is amazing. thought it sounded impossible the first few times i heard it and tried to play it, then it just sort of came together.

  • ..as impressive as always...bravo

  • WOW ! What a great job.! I love how this one moves along at a fast pace ! I can tell you have been working on this one a long time.Your playing and style never cease to amaze me ! Always top notch ! -G.L.54

  • thanks

  • Thanks for posting your beautiful music.

  • Wow!

  • You make it look so easy... you should post a "do not try this at home" disclaimer.

  • bloody hell talk about talent, loved the bassline tied in with the melody. Im off to stretch my fingers :)

  • Juste fabuleux, bravissimo!

  • Sorry hombre mai fu rather !

  • Olá :).

    Baixos perfeitos!

Gostaria muito de ouvir um arranjo seu De "Trem das Onze" de Adoniran Barbosa. Toque algum dia.

    :D

  • I think I want to learn this song now

    EXCELLENT!

  • Fantastic Tony, man I enjoyed the moving bass part and how you syncopated all the chords and melody against the basic beat, this is hard work brother I can tell,it's a real ball buster but therefor a very challenging piece of music indeed, coming up with something cool soon, still working at it,surprise, greets Vic.

  • well, it busted the knuckles any way...not sure about the other things. :D We'll be watching out for your next vid, for sure. cheers.

  • Oh - coincidence, I was wondering whether you would ever try ombra ma fui - (listening to Kathleen Ferrier recently)

  • Beatiful

  • Enjoyed this very much Tony. Great piece! How on earth did he manage to play these killer pieces without nails is something I don't know. Keep the Paulinho stuff coming!

  • yeah, that's a good question. i wish i had the knack or patience or time to relearn everything without nails. that would be better than constantly worrying about breaking one and then rehabilitating for 8 weeks when i eventually *do*.

thanks. don't know which PN thing i'll try next. "quem te viu, quem te ve" is great. Or maybe his take on Handel's largo from "Xerxes". not sure.

  • You know the thing that pisses me off most about you Tony?? You make it look like playing these songs is so damn easy

and it gives goofs like me some hope until I pick up the guitar and it sounds like a cat getting run over. I guess thats why they say the great ones make it look easy. Another wonderful job on a great song. Keep 'em coming while I figure out how to channge from G to D without breaking my fingers

  • thanks. keep on playing. believe me, i wish i could say it IS easy. but i struggle too, man, for sure.

  • Great job, you're on home ground here with a nicely polished piece. Enjoyed watching & drooling.......

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sounds great! congrats ;)

  • NICE- !!!!

  • Your a "cool" guy who plays some "cool" music...--neighbor.

    --Van

  • wow, great job on a great tune!

  • thanks

  • great! that intro is crazy!

  • glad you noticed. that is one of the really nutty cool rhythmic ideas he throws in that is a blast to finally figure out (thanks to lots of slowed down play backs)

  • great to listen to you again!

  • I love this tune-Very well Done!

  • obrigado

  • very nice

  • virtuoso

  • great job!

  • mille grazie.

  • Really wonderful!!!!

  • This is a great, fun song and of course PN was the tops in arrangers. Sounds really good in your hands. Thanks for finally recording this after all your hard work.

  • thanks, Adam. I'll probably do another version when i can get stereo recording working again and have smoothed out a few things. need a new pc. cheers.

  • I'm glad you didn't broke your fingers with this buster, Tony. Wonderful playing! You've got a hand for brazilian music. Couldn't sit still. There are some finger twisters in it - I think I would need 10 summer-camps to get this well :-)))

    Cheers, my friend,

    Bernd

  • thanks Bernd. Would like to hear your take on it. It's tricky, but eminently playable. and I don't think i'll ever know exactly what Paulinho is doing in certain places here. just auditory guesses. cheers.

  • You really are one of the Masters, Sir! Hat's of for you!5***** greetings and respect, Bram D., Holland

  • i thank you, sir

  • I love that you like and know so much about Brazilian music! It's great to hear musicians from other countries making their own interpretation of the music that's played here. Simply AMAZING, your version.

  • thanks. just want to point out that this was learned from listening to Paulinho Nogueira's recording so it's not really *my* version. cheers.

  • @troubleclef

  • thanks, buddy. that's great. glad to hear it

  • Very good! Keep working on it and you'll be as good as Paulinho himself!

I'd love to hear you play "Um Abraço no Bonfá", if you haven't already.

  • haha, that would be something. what's amazing is he plays this faster and yet absolutely relaxed sounding. it blows me away it does.

i should revisit 'um abrasso'. i worked on it a long while back. good suggestion
