a smartass driver of an army truck would never stop driving when he sees an enemy motor squad. he either charges head on against the enemies or he flees at full speed. when he stops, then all his comrades are sitting ducks when they climb out of the truck.
MG 34 had 7.92 x 57mm Mauser cartridge. The standard version can penetrate 5mm thick steel at 100 yards. Armored piercing version can penetrate 10mm, close range even 20mm thick steel.
The engine block, gear box, transmission and some other parts of the truck are much thicker than that. Can provide protection to soldiers.

I would, more worry about snipers at long range(100 yards+) than machine guns.
Again: How do you know the bullets are supposed to go through the engine block and not through the front window (although you cannot see that it breaks, admittedly). The series has some scenes which are way more stupied than this. But as a result it's not better or worse than any US-Production about WW2. (Such as Band of Brothers and other crap like that).

Very few of the Red Army's best officers survived Stalin's purges and as a result were replaced by unexperienced political commisars. The best Soviet officers were usually not political officers. Yes. But they learnt their lesson directly after the finnish winter war. Also the sheer size alone would have been enough to hold the invasion at the beginning. At least for a longer time. The only reason they were so utterly crushed in '41 was because the armys were concentrated to some points on which the invasion should take place instead of spreading out and properly defend. That way they could have been encircled and destroyed.

After germanys great success in France pretty much everyone adapted to this new strategy. That was the beginning of modern warfare and in modern warfare the offensive party has the advantage. Sure, the red army still had its flaws. But still, they had everything going for an offensive. Airfields at the border, officers having plans for the invasion, paratrooper armys.. tanks specifically designed for western roads.. Everything completely useless in defense.

byf is Mauser AG Oberndorf. First manfactured there in 1941 to 1944. In 1945 the code changed to BYF45. Your rifle's serial number SHOULD start with a 4814.

Same here. My K98 is a 1941 BCD manufactured rifle, my 1937 Mosin Nagant is a Tula manufacture. The K98 is simply a better weapon.

byf is Mauser AG Oberndorf. First manfactured there in 1941 to 1944. In 1945 the code changed to BYF45. Your rifle's serial number SHOULD start with a 4814.

@TheXWitcher ummm no, its easy to hit when moving when your using a machine gun you can just fire off hundreds of rounds in a general area within seconds. Plus the germans were ready to engage them right away while the russians were getting shot up before they even made it out of the truck.

In reality, Lenin and Stalin together rather killed maybe half of this (that is: ~30 million) overall, that is counting all the Soviets and non-Soviets too, and this including all the famines as well as the Civil War and WWII.
Oh, and they fought jointly in Poland (in 1939).

But they were killed by Germans, technically.
