It doesn't matter if you join a judo or bjj school. there are weaknesses and strengths to every discipline. as long as you find out what works and what doesn't and then do your part to improve yourself and your chosen discipline/s..

No, they are quite different. It depends on what you want to do--want to tear peoples bodies apart, join BJJ. Want to throw people onto their asses (or head), join Judo.

@judopathoftruth I do both Judo and BJJ. You do not know what you are talking about. BJJ developed from Judo. You are right. The key word is "developed", meaning that it has changed. It is not the same!!

BJJ has a huge element of grappling. Judo has a huge element of stand-up. Yes Judo has its share of grappling, but it pales in comparison to the amount of grappling in BJJ!!

Don't be to quick to try moves like this without some supervision. It's always good to try it at the Academy you're learning from and see if your instructor thinks you're doing it right.

I practice another Martial Art, and I have spoken w/ Odie a few times here in San Diego.....Odie and Jeff Higgs are really cool. They are proficient and talented at what they do, but are not cocky dicks like a lot of the BJJ guys around town. Nice variation on the full nelson / neck cranks! Looks like a whole lot of trouble for the Uke!
