  • You have to be kidding me!!! Why do I have to watch this garbage for school? If you are so upset with coal mining and coal in general, get over it. You can move somewhere else where solar or wind are more applicable. All the coal industry is doing is using their given resources. Also, I personally don't want to have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for something that I can get relatively cheap. If you want to waste your money, especially in this economy, go right ahead.

  • I 'm from E. KY and am tired of the land being destroyed. Do we have to destroy everything we touch? I am a conservative, right-winger republican. I have never even voted for a Democrat. I don't agree w/ the left on 99% of things but they are right on this and so is Ashley Judd. If the coal cannot be taken without raping the land, it doesn't need to be done. I do not care how many trees you plant after the strip-mining, it is NEVER the same. The environment is never the same. Its dead wrong

  • If you scroll down, you can see one of the coal lobby's common tactics: a pro-MTR comment by a YouTube user called "coalminersdaughter11". On this user's channel you can see that "she" is 19, yet almost never uses YouTube. Who would ever set up a YouTube account named "coalminersdaughter11"? Seriously! This is obviously a cyber-astroturf lobby account. They make hundreds of these persona-accounts to create the impression that large amounts of concerned citizens oppose environmental protection.

  • She is an excellent speaker. She said "Ya'll". LOL. I love that lady.

  • she is a cunt and she is not welcome anymore to eastern ky...

  • "Enviromental genocide" Sacrid - absolutely, thank you for your heart felt eloquence.

  • As a Kentuckian I am appalled at the utter disregard with which we are treated by Big Coal. The United States has environmentally and economically raped many poor countries internationally and now it has turned on the most vulnerable within it's own borders, those in the Gulf Coast and Appalachia. We should be ashamed.

  • She is awesome, she's not into the Hollywood spotlight, she is outspoken and confident about personal issues close to her heart. Love her!

  • She is very confident and beautiful. A real role model for women.

  • she's an incredible speaker but quite the control freak

  • how could she charge that laptop she has to read off that retarted speech without coal to give her electricity. It dont look solar powered to me.

  • Dear Ashley, Thank you for taking up such a fantastic cause. Your bravery is very admirable. I appreciate your effort to help save the beautiful Appalachian mountains from being scarred through mountain top removal. What a classy lady you are.

  • Coal Keeps The Lights On

Dont Hate A Coal Miner Thank One<3

  • Dear Ashley, Thank you so much for your great cause to save the beautifull Appalachian mountains. Much of the terrain their now looks like a moon-scape because of mountain top removal. You are so brave, and have so much class. Future generations of Americans will someday look back into the history of the past and will be so thankful to people like you who had the bravery to stand up against those who are enslaved in this insidious destruction of the beautifull Appalachian mountains.

  • @rgwinful Where do you live...Some of the most beautiful land in Eastern KY is reclaimed mountain tops. How are we to get our power from Wind, and and Solar, along with $600 power bills. Ashely can afford the increase that many of the poor people who live here could not. KY has the cheapest power bills in the United States. My family work in the coal mines and surface mines. Reclaimed land is priceless due to the lack of flat land. Mountain Top Removal prevents forest fires, Coal Rules...

  • Solar, Wind, Tidal, Wave, and Geothermal energy are all clean and renewable methods. The only reason they're expensive is because of the corrupt oil and coal industries that don't want to lose profits.

When coal is burned harmful air pollutants like sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and particulates are released to the air. These pollutants cause and aggravate respiratory diseases, damage lung tissue, and can lead to premature death. They can also harm vegetation, trees, crops and water quality.

  • @ultracapitalist I agree, yes,it IS destroying the region, but thats no reason to be against it.There are WAY more positives than there are negatives. If you really knew what YOU were talking about,You'd open YOUR eyes & see that we don't have any other way of power, now do we? Wind power won't cut it because they'd have to flatten the land to make them work, there's too many hills, but wait that would destroy them too, now wouldn't it? Solar wouldn't either, because nobody can afford it.

  • @Vannah0Vanna09

I think you're uninformed. Between Wind, Solar, Wave, Tidal, and most promisingly Geothermal, we could power the entire world. All of these are clean and renewable, and won't screw up the world for the generations to come.

  • Ashley thank you so much for standing up for such a great cause. To save the beautifull Appalachian mountains. You have so much class dear.

  • HAHAHA. ALL OF YOU PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT HER OBVIOUSLY DONT LIVE WHERE THEY COAL MINE. This makes me so mad. she's an idiot, i hope the entire states shuns her ass. I ACTUALLY LIVE IN EASTERN KENTUCKY. I know what I'm talking about. Coal keeps the light on, if you don't like it you can bring yourself down here and pay for the solar and wind energy that we don't have with all that money you wipe your ass with.

  • @Vannah0Vanna09 I support Ashley and I live in East Kentucky, so don`t go telling everyone we all support coal, cause we don`t. If you really knew what you were talking about you would open your eyes and see how coal is destroying the region.

  • @Vannah0Vanna09 thats so true my fathers father fathers were coal miners lived and died in these coal mines i love my heritage i was raised in the beautiful hills of ky i know to what i am talking a bout ashley judd has for got who she is.we are not stupid and not forgotten.this so called country we live in is runned off of our black gold that our husbands fathers and brothers die for to keep this country s lights on...

  • Well she can go live without electricity for awhile and the she can give her opinion on it. Coal keeps the lights on

  • What a smart brilliant beautifull elegant woman. A woman who cares about the beautifull Appalachian mountains.

  • what a stupid fucking bitch

  • Dear Ashely, you are so pretty, eloquent and thougtfull. Thank you for stickng up for what is right in this world. Thank you for helping to save the beautifull Appalachian mountains.

  • These so called hillbilllies are the reason this "hillbilly" has electricity. Ashley Judd is pathetic, she is a disgrace to her very own heritage. I mean truly who exactly does she think she is, she is yes from Kentucky but she lives in Tennessee and Scottland, so much for paying those Kentucky income taxes so she can truly help support the economy of this wonderful, clear creek running, COAL MINING STATE! God help her if she ever has to actually make a living and raise a family by HARDWORK!

  • So shows a Snowy dove trooping amongst Coal.

  • she is absolutely pathetic!

she will be saying this when they do ban coal & she is sitting in the dark!

  • When all you tree hugger's in the 'big city' get what you want, we in the rural areas that mine coal, drill for oil/gas, etc will be left with nothing to live on. Our towns will become ghost towns and our people will be forced to move out of the area. But of course you all don't give a damn, because none of you have had family work until the day they die just to put food on the table and have a nice home.

  • So shows a snowy dove trooping amongst YouTube crows.

  • Morons like this are the cause of the gulf oil disaster & all the wildfires which burn down millons of acres of land every summer. They have NO idea what they're talking about.

  • Hmmmm, hillbillies don't play golf? Wasn't the Ryder Cup contested in Kentucky? Isn't Kenny Perry a celebrated golfer from Kentucky? Oh, I'm a proud resident of Kentucky and I too play golf. Maybe her reference to hillbillies do not play golf should have been left out.

  • @allyourschat Excatly, i'm also from there and i'm not a hillbilly whatsoever.

  • What an Eloquent lady. Her beauty is like that of Grace Kelly. Thank God for people in the world like Ashley. Brave, courageous and willing to stand up against the butchering of the Appalachian mountains.

  • Ashley, you're a pig and a disgrace to the people of the mountains. Low class trailer trash who got lucky and has to remind people of her good fortune to satisfy feelings of low self esteem. How sad. Why don't you come home and visit? Bring your attitude and a toothbrush.

  • Ashley you are like a breath of fresh air. I love your grace, beauty

and your ability to articulate. Thank you for standing up for what is

right in this world. A truly classy lady!

  • A very angry and misled woman. She said she doesn't like to reinforce stereotypes and then does so all in the same breath. If you don’t know any eastern Kentuckians that golf you must hang out with the uneducated, inbred, meth heads. Ashley Judd is a piece of trash. Keep your “greater than thou” attitude out of Kentucky.

  • @bigfunwv Speaking of trash...

    golfers are ****ing ****s.

Like skiers, they get their relaxation in the most destructive, wasteful way possible.

When the last sterile, prozac- popping cancer-ridden **** uses the last barrel of oil to dig out the last ounce of gold then you can tell me who's trash.

  • @pekoe67 So do you hate everyone or just golfer, skiers, coal miners, oil users, Prozac users and cancer patients? Perhaps you would be so kind as to enlighten me as to how I should spend my recreational time?

I would consider trash as people who feel the need to tell others how to enjoy their leisure time. People who don't have the class to use other words to use so they type F***ing Swears with asterisks also top my list. You’re Number 1 in my book.

  • If anyone wants to SEE Mountain Top Removal and its effects....click my screen name and you will be taken to my youtube channel "All Eyes on Appalachia". It has links and videos, some posted by me, some I favorited. And dont just take my videos and the links word for it. Come here and see it for yourself. Come to Appalachia and see what they are doing to us.

  • Well what about all the environmental damage caused by catastrophic oil spills of careless multi-national corporations like British Petrolem, who strip-mine the sea in greedy search of more profits, yet continually leave behind TOTAL ENVIRONMENTAL DEVASTATION?

    Oh, I see...

    BP is your main Corporate-Sponsor?

So discussing global oceanic contamination from British Petroleum's 'Rape & Pillage' strip-mine policy is off limits?

You stupid media whore, there is an APOCALYPSE in our OCEANS RIGHT NOW!!

  • @GayWorldOrder What are you crying about? This clip is about mountaintop removal mining, not oil spills. If you want to see oil spills you can check out some of the other recent clips from NRDCflix. You can try "Yours truly, BP"

    watch?v=aPbZe43pTC8

or any of the other nine clips in the same playlist, "From the gulf".

  • @GayWorldOrder Apocalypse in the ocean? BP Oil Spill the greatest environmental disaster? Really? We, the people of Appalachia, have been dealing with their own enviromental disaster for decades. But because we dont have the beaches rich people love, they could care less about the poorer mountain folk. We have been screaming and waving our arms for help for decades but ignored, sacrificed so people have cheaper electric bills. The oceans will recover LONG before these mountains ever will.

  • Thank you so much Ashley! I have been a huge fan of hers for years and as a fellow Appalachian from the coal fields of West Virginia, Im proud she is speaking out against MTR. I have watched with my own eyes the destruction of MTR. They have destroyed the mountain that was once home to my ancestors in Boone Co, WV, known as Cook Mountain. Thanks to MTR all that remains of their lives is the 200 yr old cemetery that we now have limited access to. Please help us stop MTR.
