  • Slappin' the bass!

  • The one part everybody misses is the bass that is actually there during the drum solo; it is really subtle, but there; Geddy Lee is really good for matching the drummer beat for beat (no different on "Tom Sawyer"), but it is really low in the mix. I have been playing bass for over 25-year and still consider this piece to be a bitch! Now, try to imagine singing and playing the bass to "Tom Sawyer"! Fricking Geddy Lee is awesome, period!

  • Please tell me. Do you use any effect in this movie?

  • @DMKano87 Are you talking a video effect or audio effect on the bass?

  • @therednex I mean effects for bass.

  • @DMKano87 It's mostly clean. I ran it through a Digitech BP80 with minimal effects. Just some EQ mostly.

  • terrible at begining it goes down not up play right like me!

  • 1:55 :o

  • some mistakes, but good overall

  • That bass has a really nice tone, especially to say it's a Squier :)

  • SX SJB?

  • I just skipped straight to 1:57

  • After about 10 months of solid bass practice - around 2 or more hours a day if I can - I can play this song. And I have to say it's worth all the work. A really fun song to play. Major thing is to practice. Practice as much as you can. And have patience, you'll get there eventually.

  • im learning to play some rush and my instructor said i should try to strum with 3 fingers, is that a good idea?

  • @TheExploitCrew1 I don't usually strum with three but sometimes I like to use three fingers to strum triplets... Check out David Makalaster by Les Claypool for a good example of what I mean. But for Rush usually I stick with two and throw in the odd three finger triplet if I can.

  • @therednex i like the orange something different from what i stick to

    nice cover

  • @apacolypseday Thanks... I think you'd probably be mad at me if you saw the shape that bass is in right now. It sat in a case in a musty basement for 8 months and is looking a little rusty. :(

  • @therednex wow that sucks

  • @apacolypseday Neglect is a bitch

  • @TheExploitCrew1 whenever i play with fingers i always play with three unless its blues it just helps me

  • Great job!!!!

  • is solo fucking hard

  • im trying to learn this song - but i fail if i go past the first coupla riffs- and the solo forget it :( i envy u

  • Best bass player ever.

  • @fadedpastblack you havent seen the bass player for the red hot chili peppers then

  • I'm trying to learn this stuff myself. it'll take ages before I reach the same level as this. it's a damn hard track, especially the 2min region

  • @somdusazerate The trick is persistence. Don't give up!

  • THAT IS A NICE BASS!

  • Your sound is amazing. What kind of amp and effects do you use in this video?

  • @4813agl Hey.. I run the bass through a digitech BP80, but I don't do much to it in terms of effects, and from the pedal it's direct in to my board. It's pretty much an unaffected signal. Fresh strings and a hard attack is my secret.

  • Very well done!

  • i wana learn tthis but i use pick when i play bass you think it would make any diff?

  • nice cover :D watch?v=1P2D-Xei33Q

  • of course your wearing a watch lol

  • @therednex that is an awsome bass. i will be buying one soonly. IT HAS AMAZING TONE!!!!!!!!

  • @therednex i love that basse but i prefere to buy the Squier Vintage modified Precision Bass

  • What strings are you using man?

Also, could you tell me the pickup blend (if you remember)?

    Thanks very much.

  • @ozzyismetal Hey man, I had just barely bought this bass when I shot this video. The string were whatever was on it when I bought them. I generally use GHS Flea Signature strings but I've recently switched to Ball Ball Super Sklinky mediums. As for the pickup blend.. Pretty straight forward, everything all the way up! :)

  • @therednex same strings i use, the ghs boomers
