Cute and adorable! But please be careful about that escape thing. My beloved budgie I had years ago was lost that way. She could open the cage door the same way and some visitors left the back door open.
he otook a swim on his own while I was away just put it that way and the water level was about two inches lower than the rim and it wasn't fully covered -_- never had a single budgie try that ever but he was young and curious and a hell of an explorer.
omg my second last budgie used to do that.. only problem is it killed him indirectly.. a 10 gallon aquarium was about 3-4 feet away from his cage which I closed but the door would swing both ways cause it was an old as heck cage and I had to tie it wtih an elastic and he somehow moved it just enough to slide through he was totally tame but very independent and EXTREMELY curious he'd be seen running outside my room when the door was closed and a very small hole if u can even call it a hole
its best if you get them when they're young first of all. then you put your hand in their cage, often. get them used human contact--they often are fidgety at first and don't comply, but over time they'll get more used to you. Give them the opportunity to spend time outside of the cage too, when they're young. I also recommend making little birdie sounds/chirps to them. I have a deep love for all my budgies i've owned. they're sweet and loving.
take them out hold them try to teach them you wont hurt them and you dont like it when they bite...If they do bite where gloves and let them bite untill they get tired of it and realize its futile.
great video! i have a much shorter and less spectacular one called "Nerd Fighter Parakeets: Dante and Beckett", which you might enjoy. stellar production and hilariously appealing budgies. have you checked out the budgie research group? google it to learn amazing facts about budgie intelligence. best regards, dantebeckett.
Inside the minds of our budgies: don't we all wish we could that... Wishful thinking... Our relationship with them would be greatly simplified. But we will never know the workings of their minds. For instance, have a look at my film "Li'l Babi Can Be Devilish": is he really being devilish? Or simply responding to the stimulus of the toys? From his behaviour and expression, you would swear he is purposely devilish... See what you think...
Now my budgie's scare me o.o
