  • Is that a coffee bean grinder??

  • Can i use the powder for tomato flavored crisps?

  • Thanks for the video, I just picked up some tomatoes today and had to find your video so I could get some tips. Keep up the great work!

  • Hi, Once you open the jar, you really should intend to eat the remaining quantity within a few days. If you reseal the jar, just use a fresh oxygen absorber. If you are going to eat it within the week, use the same oxy absorber.

    Thanks!

  • @efooddehydrator

    Thanks for the video!

I'll be sure to check more of yours!

As for the shelf life of dehydrated stuff - if I keep it in an air tight container (not a vacuum pack) and put it in the freezer, will it last for long even without an oxygen absorber?

Or else, could I use oxygen absorber you occasionally find in supplement jars?

    Cheers!

  • Once you open/unseal the jar - how long will the food last? Can u remove the air again and reseal for long term with the same ox absorber?

  • I am guessing that the tomato powder can be used as a substitute for tomato bullion? seems interesting thank you!

  • Dag, you have a factory or what? You carry dehydrators & oxygen absorbers too. Don't tell me you are the manufacturer.

  • What I do is I purchased a Food Saver, with the Port on top. Then you buy the lid attacment for wide mouth and regular mouth mason jars, they are cheap! Then, attach to the Food Saver and it sucks ALL THE OXYGEN out of the Glass jar!! I have 200 jars of cocoa, flax seeds, soy flour and any dry goods you can think of done like this!!

  • Very helpful! Dehydrating is a very dry subject, but you make it fun with your enthusiasm.

  • What is the ratio of oxygen absorbers to food?

  • how do you know the amount of oxygen absorbers to food?

  • I recently dehydrated 150 (small) romas in my 9 tray Excalibur, powdered them and they ALL fit into one single quart jar! Amazing! I'm just looking for ways to use them effectively.

  • @agr8grny1 I've recently made tomatoe powder and found it makes wounderful tomatoe soup, I add a couple of teaspoons "heaping" to a cup of boiling water, I add dried green onions to my mix and salt and pepper so it's ready to go.

  • I just got the 5 tray one at am auction 2 weeks ago. I got a really good deal on it. I have already used it and look forward to using it all the time.

  • Hi, I'm really enjoying your videos! If I may ask, where did you get the grinder?

  • @Seraphim712 - Hi, I love my Mr. Coffee grinder. It is available at most stores. I will be carrying them at efooddehydrator soon. Thank you for watching our videos!

  • @Seraphim712 And get a good grinder! Don't skimp on the quality of the grinder.

  • If you vacuum seal, add an oxygen absorber and keep it out of light in a dry cool area, you will get years and years out of it. If there is no way for air to get it, it will last a long time.

We sell oxygen absorbers on our site Efooddehydrator and on eBay. We sell 30cc, 50cc, 100cc, 200cc, 300cc, 500cc, 1000cc & 2000cc. If you have any questions on sizes, please let me know. Thanks!

  • If I vacuum seal my whatever with an oxygen absorber, can I get actual YEARS and not MONTHS for my SHTF dehydrated stuffs? This is crucial. If this dehydrating ruccus only buys me a few months... forget it.

  • @ThePresticle1 The big problem is humidity causing mold. Vac packing takes out the possibility of humidity molding your food and the oxy absorber prevents oxidation witch reduces nutrition. Dehydrated food that is vacuum sealed with an oxygen absorber should last at least 5 years, and can last as long as 30 years.

  • @ThePresticle1 If you place your dehydrated veggies in a mason jar, and then place an O2 absorber in the jar and place the lid and ring on the jar, the jar will actually seal. Food stays good like this for YEARS! Just make sure to label the jar to know when it was dehydrated for good rotation!

If your food begins to mold, you haven't removed enough water from the food. The idea is to remove approx 96-97% of the water.
