askren and funicello train together. Funiecello is an amazing submission grappler and good greco guy too...Im sure theyve learned alot from each other...Jeff is actually great at all forms of combat,.. striking, wrestling, subs, clinch..everything..great guy and great martial artist

You would think that people would realize that you can't wrestle with Askren. I get that FILA rules are stupid and the no points for sweeps is ridiculous, but still you are probably going to get scored on every time if you try to wrestle with Askren.

Is askren taking those half assed shots because he is concerned with getting caught in a guillotine or something? He doesnt change levels or penetrate on his leg shots. Since I know he is a VERY high level wrestler it makes me think those ugly shots are just him playing it safe.

@andybins i got to train at ASU by some people who now coach with Askren and I am in American Pankration with Coach Jeff. You will notice that by just reaching with those half ass shots you keep the other guy guessing, kind of like a pump fake for a quarterback, you never know when to expect that real shot. It also helps you gauge you opponents reaction and maybe even make his reaction less and less as te match goes on. it is an effective tactic. thats all i have to say about that.
