@zz13x Actually after Mexican independence was won, the Texans (Mexicans and Americans) wanted their independence from Mexico, who paid little attention to them. Santa Anna, the Pres. of Mexico, marched his army against the Texans, or tejanos as they were called. Eventually, Texas independence was won and Texas stood on its own feet as a new nation. However, the Texan majority anticipated and wanted America to annex Texas, which we eventually did when Iowa could also join the country. History.
