Bud Herseth once was telling this story at Dorian Music Camp, that he had an inexperienced conductor that told the trumptet section of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to play as loud as they possibly could. And Bud Herseth and his section blew the conductor off the Podium.
I laughed so hard I pulled several, well-developed muscles...and I'm STILL giggling uncontrollably...nailing the Farting Bedpost player is a favorite of mine AND my students!!!!!! :)
(Oops, originally posted this in the wrong place. Reposting here...) Hey, great video! Seriously funny stuff. I must confess to having occasionally aimed my bell right at the heads of some annoying reed players. Are you the same Jeff Curnow who plays with Philly Orch? I've played many time with Debbie Crow, and she always talks about your days at Temple. I've tried to stop by to say high after your Kimmel Center concerts, but could never get to the stage before you were gone.
Loved it, Jeff. Only one suggestion: edit beginning to 2:40 to where the comedic timing is faster paced. Less space between narrative and visual response. The commercial 2:41-3:05 has the right, snappy tempo. You've done a great job! As a trombonist, I was often told to tone it down.

Is the statement at the end regarding owning a c trumpet true? You played in Dallas on a B flat trumpet?

Bugle Blues by Tutti Camarata. It's on 'Tutti's Trumpets'.
Trumpets: Mannie Klein, Uan Rasey, Pete Candoli, Conrad Gozzo, Joe Triscari and Shorty Sherock.
A killer LP finally reissued on CD.

In English, sounds too close to "Die Endlösung".

My god, I don't think anyone from Germany should be using the term "Ultimate Solution" (or "Final Solution" for that matter)...

Yup, send me a HITMAN! This is so good, I had to send it to my conductor and the poor bassoonists who have to sit in front of me!

A dizzy horn? Care to elaborate, eric?

Just do an image search for Dizzie Gillespe. The bell of his horn was angled upward.

Richard Strauss, when conducting, observed thus: "Never look at the trombones. It only encourages them."

As a bassoonist, I do NOT recommend this product.
I do, however, always have a pair of earplugs in my case. :-)
tjowatonna 3 years ago
As a trumpeter, I carry several packages of disposable earplugs, to hand out to woodwind players.
