Actually that's the passenger side mirror(looks like they are in the UK), so it's not that bad of a mistake to forget the mirror folded. I mean, it can happen, it's forgivable. I rarely use that mirror myself. I use the Force when I try to overtake someone.

Also, props to the bike dude. He seems a good chap.

Whatever, man.... We drive on the right side of the road and we drive left side drive cars. I rarely need the right side mirror(only when I am re-entering a lane after overtaking), I use the left one when overtaking. I never drove off with a mirror folded in my life.

I was just saying that it can happen to anybody. Leaving in a hurry, stuff on their mind, etc...
