I would like to know too. I've heard an orchestra play this live. I'm not sure if it's a version that was written for orchestra originally, or if someone took it from somewhere and decided to orchestrate it.
Nice changes this year Mark. I am in Arkansas, just opened a roller skating rink there. Didnt get to see the show in person this year, but my sister has been there a few times to see the changes. She said she heard my voice on the radio, how exciting! excellent job! Im psyched to see what happens next year!
The new song that I added last night will have more of the synchronization completed each night until finished. It's kind of interesting, because if you come each night, you'll see more and more of it completed and go through a refining stage. The lights are programed to 5/100 of a second to ensure very accurate precise actuation. But doing it to this resolution significantly adds to the programming complexity. I think it results in a higher quality show though.
this is amazing from what little ive seen online. i only knew of one down in the area and that was in ladera, which was still cool, but this blows it out of the water. well done.
nice show ... what is the prgram you used for the show im playing to do this next year with my house and also how many channels will I need to use for something like this??
Very awesome job, Mark! And excellent song choice. Searching around Utube, I'd hafta say your creation is the best I've seen. I would love to drive by to see your light show for 2008-- is it up already?
Oooh, wow! I just saw it last night-- all the different songs, and each light show more impressive than the last. Unbelievably cool!! When the Grinch suddenly appeared, I actually gasped in delight. I'm bringing family and friends next time! Thank you so much for making the holiday season more special, with your talent!
A few days to put the lights up. What took most of the year was fabricating the custom lights, building the FM Transmitter & Antennae, and programming the light shows.
Thanks! I built solid-state relay boxes to control the AC power,I built an FM transmitter and Antenae,I purchased the controller software,I fabricated the rope lights, modified the strobe lights,I imported the purchased audio and created the light show so that it was synchronized to the audio. This coming 07 Christmas will have at least twice as many lights with some pretty cool new special affects. The show looks way better in person than on this video.
Awesome job -- I would love to see more of your work!
How are you uploading? VOB file? there are supposed to be programs that will convert a VOB to an AVI which would heve you space for a longer video -- you know -- like people who post whole tv shows in ten minute segments...
I use Final Cut Studio to edit the video and save to a compressed file format that will provide the best resolution for the space the YouTube allows, which isn't much. I will be posting all of the Christmas light shows in late November for the Christmas 07 season. The videos really do not do the shows justice. It looks way better in person.
Thanks, toon in this coming December as I am going to post all of my shows and not just the one. There will be considerably more lights and effects. The only problem is that YouTube has a limit on the video file size which limits the video quality. The show looks way better in person.
Because I bought most of the lights on sale and built alot of the electronics, FM transmitter and FM Antenae I was able to keep the cost down. The overall cost was almost $4,000. What really cost me were all of the extension cords that I had to buy. That was a surprise.
That is the most AWE inspiring home lighting shows I have ever experienced! Who needs to pay Disneyland 63.00 to experience a holiday light show! Next year, fireworks and flares should be added... hahahaha
Thanks! The kids really love it. People keep coming back almost every night to see what new stuff I've added. Next years design will shock everyone. Just think of snow, fire & lightning strikes.
We got the lightning strikes in the form of Shooting Stars, but due to technical difficulties the snow won't happen till next year. Fire went out of the design after the serious Forest Fires that we had recently. We did double the lights which we are going to double again for 2008.
Dear Mark,
I was wondering what those strobe lights are in between the two garages are at around :27 and near peaks of the song. Thanks!
