Rick Rude was greater than the Ultimate Warrior. Rick Rude was the most popular wrestler in 1990. Rick Rude beat Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 6 and then beat Macho Man in a career ending match at WrestleMania 7. Rick Rude then made a memorable return at WrestleMania 8 and squared off against Macho Man in front of 80,000 people at SummerSlam 1990.
I love the ring announcers voice (Mike McGuirk) Reminds me of my childhood. Great Match! RIP Ravishing One, and Warrior...you still suck after 22 years!
both losers one is dead and the other isnt far behind..........ur time is coming warrior all the roids are gonna catch up with you and u are gonna die a slow painful death
@KingHotdog That has to be one of the dumbest things i have ever heard anyone say his fueds with sting where way better quality than warrior at least sting was a profesional that could wrestle the warrior was all flash for an enterance then a bum in the ring
@KingHotdog 100% correct. It annoying to see these people who were not even alive when the Warrior/Rude feud was going on, shitting on it or the Warrior.
Warrior got Rude over NOT the other way around. No One had beaten the Warrior more than once before Rude did at least on TV. Rude had the Warriors number.
@Papawill13 Agreed about Warrior getting Rude over. Honestly, Rude's rep really benefitted from his WCW run where he became a serious main eventer. In WWF he honestly didn't do dick until or after his feuds with Warrior. He had the Jake Roberts feud and what else? A feud with a totally shot and on his way out Paul Orndorff? An aborted feud with Boss Man?
@Papawill13 people shitting on the Warrior are just being honest. He was a horrible wrestler, and needed high level workers like Rude to carry him to good matches.
I dont understand why Vince, Triple HHH and other wrestlers say that the ultimate warrior was a horrible wrestler! He may have not been a technical wrestler but he was damn good at what he did!
@bb1977 Its funny that EVERYONE would agree with you but the WWE doesnt give a phuck & continue to put on its horrible programming each week. Its a shame. Would much rather watch re-runs of this stuff that 2days crap.
Ultimate Warrior could still handle his own today...absolute legend...and WHY DID THE WWF HAVE TO CHANGE ITS NAME, FU.CK THE GODDAMN WORLD WILDLIFE FUND FOREVER; WWF ALWAYS STANDS FOR WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION.
Rick got hustled pure and simple. Even though credit where credit is due UW greatly upped his game and improved his skills and also mellowed out towards his fellow wrestlers later on it is easy to understand why this was one of the reasons Rick left after this.
long story short, todays wrestling sucks. You have people across the US that can bring back this sport to what it used to be in the 80' and 90"s. The big question is when will Vince Mc Mahon let it come true?
PLEASE DON'T READ THIS you will die in seven days if you don't post this comment on 10 videos in the next hour. if you do, tomorrow will be the best day of your life.
Her name was Mike McGuirk. She was the first female ring announcer in WWE history. Lillian Garcia had the better voice, but McGuirk never messed up like like Lillian did.
I know how people today will blab on about the politics that went on during these days but who cares!! when you were a kid! these guys were top notch entertainment and the Ultimate Warrior was great to see even if his wrestling was basic
These were the BEST days for the WWE!! everyone was out of a comic book! it was fun, crazy and built up great with the storylines!! unlike todays WWE where everyone is normal!! trying to be super cool!
Back in the day I was a massive fan of the warrior, all that adrenaline you got when his music blasted out, now I see what a rubbish wrestler he was and what a different planet this guy was on. Great for the business, bad for the wrestlers at the time that knew how to wrestle - Bret hart, Curt Hennig. Rude all of the time had to carry the matches with Warrior.
Page 255 of Bret Hart's book states "Rude was carrying Warrior through every match. That night he found himself wrestling him to the mat, whispering in his ear that if Warrior potatoed him one more time he'd rip his head off & shove it up his ass. Warrior, who never showed much regard for his fellow wrestlers, melted like putty. Thi sstory alone makes me think that Rude must have been at least partially legit tough. Too bad he never actually made the Warrior look bad.
@TNO73 Many wrestlers said that Rude should had been a boxer because of his very heavy hands and because he was just a very tough brawler. He was definitely a legit tough guy.
This is from WWF's Prime Time Wrestling. Sean Mooney and Lord Alfred Hayes were the commentators instead of Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan who were on Wrestling Challenge. Don't confuse the billboards, although they DO say 'Wrestling Challenge'. Ring announcer Mike McGuirk looks great. Where is she NOW if I might ask?
I would take this ring announcer over Lilian Garcia, Tony Chimel, and whoever the hell the new guy on Raw is. The new announcers just don't put any inflection into it, nor do they have any bass in their voices.
Her name is Mike McGuirk and she was the first female ring announcer in WWF history. She was okay. Lillian actually had the better voice, but in all of my years of watching I have never heard McGuirk screw up once.
@sandinyourshoes thought i'd find you in here. you see, THAT'S what happens when Brother Rude fights the Warrior without outside interference - he gets the crap beat outta him! Bwahahahahahaha!
@2strong2cool, between Rude and Warrior, I favored Rude. Warrior was not easy to like at all. He often acted like a villain. It was not until he finally cooled off that he became easier to accept. However, by then he was reitred. However, that does not mean I would deny his intensity. He certainly had it. I give him credit where it was due. Rude pinned him for the IC belt, but Warrior did win it back, and for that he deserved credit.
@sandinyourshoes They had a classic rivalry. Rude was one of the best heels of all time. Warrior was my childhood hero though, so i'll always back him. Both legends of the sport though
@2strong2cool, many people assume I would not ever recognize Warrior's impressive record of victories. That is not true. He was a legend of the WWF. His rivalry with Rude is classic. The wrestlers of today do not match either Rude or Warrior for raw intensity. I also think it is fine you favored Warrior. Freedom of choice is a great thing.
When Warrior wrestled Orlando Jordan, he was truly babyfaced. He had stood up for a young child and spoke in favor of all children.
I hate how horribly they treated UW in the end. I've looked through a lot of the videos of UW on youtube and he is SUCH an amazing performer. He's comical and awesome!!!
If you were a real wwf fan you would respect both of them. I love both, but warrior was my favorite, but i have a great admiration for rude cuz he was an important part of the wwf. Just look at 7:35, this is what I would call entertainment lol. I miss both of them,
rick rude can make any one in the ring great.. too bad his career was cut short when he broke his back against sting in wcw. R.i.P you will never be forgotten. wwe needs to put him in the hall of fame.
@RHeckman00, wow, what a dumb comment. He got those opportunities BECAUSE he was getting over with the fans like crazy. Eventually, his popularity surpassed even Hogan's, albeit briefly.
@rch9000 LIKE I SAID............He was over with the fans BECAUSE he feuded with guys like Hogan, Rude, Macho Man, and Andre, who ALL put him over. I don't think he would be getting over feuding with guys like the Red Rooster or Rugged Ronnie Garvin
@RHeckman00, your reply has no purpose. You're saying he was over with the fans because of his high-profile feuds. I'm saying he was put in such high-profile feuds because he was getting over with the fans (on his own). We're making two very different points here. And yours makes zero sense.
@rch9000 I know what you are saying and I don't agree with you. Guys like Rick Rude could make anyone look good. Warrior couldn't. That showed when Warrior was put into feuds with people like Jerry Lawler and Papa Shango.
@RHeckman00 , again, we're making two different points. I don't disagree with you're assessment of Rude. And I don't think Warrior was a great in-ring worker either. I'm saying that he created a character that the fans had a strong connection with. That has nothing to do with his feuds. He was getting over on his own. Vince recognized this and capitalized on it. BTW, no one had any interest in the Lawler, Shango feuds in the first place. They were gonna suck no matter what.
@RHeckman00 This is stupid. Obviously you need to feud with big names to get over more with the fans. Hogan would not be Hogan witjout Andre the Giant, Macho Man and others either. Are you serious? Besides, Warrior already gained popularity by getting over guys like Hercules., After he defeated Honky Tonk Man in Summerslam 1988 it was a rap.
