  • I just found a baby mouse abandoned in my living room. I am keeping him warm and actually gave him a q-tip with cow milk (hey...at least it's something) and he sucked a little. I hope he lives. But I have tried to help baby mice before and they died ;/

  • .is that thing barking.

  • Comment removed

  • Get kitten milk replacment not puppy milk. The puppy milk is not good for them. Once mice have grown their fur in they are a lot easyer to hand raise. It is very hard however to handraise babies who are still hairless since they need extra extra care and attention. Don't forget to whip their bums with a VERY damp cloth to help them use the bathroom after feeding.

  • OMG That i so sweet of you but the dog barking may scare him/she to death cause that can happen and cause it is only a baby lets hope he/she makes it

  • r bless thats SO cute well done :0) it must have been in shock poor little thing aftre its ordeal!! bless!! i LOVE mice, thats so sweet u kept him/her i bet it loved u coz it looked like it was trying to nestle against your hand, thinks ur its mum now :0) i have 3 mice (used to be 4:( ) will post vid soon :0) x what was this one's name? x

  • actually goats milk isnt bad for them :(

  • I found a baby deer mouse that was about 10 days old. I fed her kitten formula every couple hrs from an eyedropper. I kept her cage warm with a heating pad set on low. I still have her almost 2 yrs later. You can feed baby mice kitten formula and they will do fine.

  • Thank you Marie. i will remember for next time. Rodents are quite amazing creatures.

  • @jzathey I put the heating pad on my floor, put a towel on top of it and then placed the cage on the towel. It kept it warm (check the pad every so often to make sure it didnt overheat). The hand feeding continued until she opened her eyes, then she ate solid food: bird seeds, sunflower seeds, peas, veggies...etc be careful and clean the milk off their faces or it will stick, turn sour and can get their skin infected. The moms in the wild would normally clean them off, so "mom" you have to do it

  • @mariesadler iom taking care of one and feeding him puppy formula he loves it!

  • You could have given him kitten milk. I raised pet rats and mice before and this little guy looked almost close enough to start eating rat food a little. I'm sorry he didn't make it. if you ever find one again remember kitten milk will work fine.

  • ahaha awe that cute little bugger hope he survived

  • i found an adult 2day but he seems really scared any advice

  • aaaw it didnt die did it? i raised a mouse once when i was 14 im now 16 its still alive it was far younger than this mouse it had no fur eyes close paws together.i fed it puppy milk, and it worked i let it sleep on a warm heating pad fed it every two hours and then had t get a cotton swab to help him potty. hes alive and well and really healthy :)

  • you have a very big heart, thank you

  • My friend found a field mouse on his doorstep and we made a nest for him but he looked quite week and shocked. We were told that budgie seeds were good to feed him so we gave him some seed and chees and bread and we pippetted water into his mouth if he wanted a drink. His back left leg kept giving in. We kept him warm but he didnt make it.We buried him under the big tree in the field in a little round boz which said on it "R.I.P Tiny" We but some tissue in and a flower in his box too. R.I.P Tiny

  • Sweet story. Thank you for sharing.

  • When my mouse callie was dying I fed her the puppy replacement milk and she lived 4 days wth a punctured lung my rommates cat took her

  • did it died? It's really sad... :(

  • Awww were you crying? It's so sad when you can't take care of it but nothing else will either :< at least you care though. Cuute vid <3

  • i am so so sorry. i know how you feel

  • my mom would tell me to kill it but i wouldn't

  • my dad craps bricks when he sees mice, so I'm not able to really find any. (all the traps)

  • u shuld buy a baby mouse from the pet store and feed it kitten formula to save its life from a hungry snake

  • That is a good karmic suggestion. I miss having rodents around me. I've enjoyed the company of rats, gerbils & mice. They are quite remarkable creatures.

  • @jzathey It's not really "good karma" - save a mouse, starve a snake. If nature sees it as "bad" for a snake to eat a mouse, it sure has a strange way of showing it. So go ahead, try accruing "good karma" by saving a mouse from being fed to a snake. It will all be undone by your simultaneous attempt to starve a snake. Not good either way. ;-)

  • Yeah, it's a tough call. I have a video about saving a snake, devastated when it died. Find it on my site. Further to your thoughts, bad karma must certainly come when we pump our cancer stricken humans with chemo drugs & radiation & render their bodies unfit for animal consumption, totally toxic. No wonder they put them in coffins. It's why I am vegan and why I live in peace with the world. One day I save a rodent, one day a spider, one day a human, and hopefully, one day myself. Hugs.

  • Aw, all of nature's creatures are so cute. :D Besides cockroaches. I hate cockroaches.

  • dont let your cat out perhaps. so cute the mouse.

  • omg xxx u could of tryed feeding him kitten milx throw a plane syringe i did for my baby mouse that i found :'( ( his mum had cought by a mower n his family ) if u did deffo let him go just think that hes in a better place now xxx my mouse died wen he got to 2 months old cos of my cats :'( my mouse wldt eet but i kept on trying untill 4 pm we had to try n force feed him witch help him n then we gav him baby food + mashed banana :D then he had seed at a month and a half xx ur a kind person x

  • @1996bambi Wh@t m@kes you think he is in @ better pl@ce? How do you know th@t. He might be in the s@me pl@ce like before he w@s born which is nothing. People who think there is something better don't t@ke de@th seriously @nd don't feel @s much symp@thy for these poor @nim@ls. (sorry my @'s don't work.)

  • @TheYellowtulip the reason i sed he was in a better place was because i no how it felt when my orphaned mouse died n it was horrible having the only thing worth living for ( to help it live ) sundenly go for ever rips a hole out off you .depression is an awfull thing n suddenly having something worth living for can pull you out off the deepest sadness i had no meening i was thinking of leaving this earth if u understand but then i had something that needed me n i didnt give up

  • micearen

t born with fur this must be something else but it is adorably cute

  • If anyone finds anything like this in the future, the best readily available food to give is soy baby formula from any grocer or kitten/puppy milk from a pet store. Poor little guy.

  • Thank you. I love all creatures & all the beauty of this earth. I hope you enjoy some of my other videos & get to know my animal family through youtube. Have a nice evening.

  • That is such a cute mouse! won't he eat! I learned you have to feed them kitten or puppy formula! I have 3 orphned mice I have to feed and they are so wobbly! lol he is bigger! You can get Kitten or puppy Formula at Walmart or a pet shop!

  • How's the baby mouse doing? Dont look for the mother she will abandoned it go to your local petshops they should have baby food for it. Lucky the cat did not eat it. Check around your home in or outdoors any small holdes the size of a quarter or 50 cents or under the dog house.

  • god bless u rescuer and u cute little mouse :)

  • ??? We found an abandoned baby deer mouse the other day. She seems to be doing just fine on Kitten formula.

  • i found a mouse exactly like that and fed it milk and seeds until it could run and let it go i had it for i think a week

  • also, if you cant order kitten formula order puppy! it works the same. horrible.

  • order some milk online! you just let a mouse die. his mom wont find him, even if she did, you've touched her baby so shed either eat him or -since its seems a bit big- leave him and let the owls get him!

  • Ive had 3 baby mice in my pourch it took a struggle to get the mouse of the cat but mice flys etc are gifts to you to say thank you

  • bless you.

    how is the little fella?

  • I tried 3 vet clinics in this small town area & couldn't get infant kitten formula. I know that infant human formula will cause his to bloat & die a horrible death. So I made the desperate decision, a one in a million, to put him into the forest & hope that his mom might find him.

  • @jzathey Hi, I am Val, I just found 3 orphaned Field mice and Now I have the opportunity myself to feed them! Do you have a Walmart or a pet store near you! I found Kitten Formula in the Cat section or the Dog Section. Also a petstore has it! The Kitten Formula cost $3.54! I know expensive just to feed mice! But it works! I am new at this too! So Good Luck! Mine are wobbly. lol

  • Hi Val. Good luck with the little mice! I've sometimes had success, sometimes not. That's what we animal lovers have to endure. This video was taken 1.5 years ago. He didn't make it. I used to keep kitten formula in my freezer for emergencies but I live in an area of country where there are few strays. The coyotes eat them, unfortunately.

  • that sure is hearbreaking

  • Thank you for caring. I became vegetarian 31 years ago because I care about those animals who suffer in order to stuff our bodies.

  • even if you found his mom she wouldnt take him back because of the human scent on him now :\ I found a baby Chipmunk in my front yard and the previous days i found 2 dead adult chipmunks there too. So we took him in, named him Chomper!, and then (xmas day) he died. :( he lived for like, 3 months.

  • How remarkable that you were able to keep Chomper alive for 3 months. Fostering is difficult - I've fostered many newborn kittens, not always with positive results. It's heartbreaking at times.

  • I've only fostered chomper, oh and this baby bird but it didnt even last a day. :[. Yeah it is.

  • poor little baby... :(

  • hows he/she doin?

  • Hi. The little mouse died. It saddens me, as I've had mice & rats as pets, as well as other rodents. They are highly intelligent & very reactive to humans. If you send your email address to my profile I will send you a eulogy I wrote for a pet rat who died. it will bring many tears to your eyes...

  • Sorry, I'm on my friend's youtube site - it's jzathey responding to you.

  • If you do not have access to a pet store that carries kitten or puppy milk replacement than go to the store and buy SOY INFANT FORMULA.

  • ...I took him out of the cage, and started to hand feed him, with a 0.5mL syringe (very fine needle). I have been using regular cows milk, but now I'll switch to Wyeth S-26 Gold (as I have some already). Problem with it is it can clog the needle (maybe need to strain it through paper (as a filter paper)). He's not appearing to put on any weight/size. Maybe I just need to give it more time. Only been a day now. I'm keeping him warm too. Supposed to feed him every 2 hours!!

  • Great story. A friend suggested in hindsight, some agave syrup. Or perhaps any other kind of natural sweetener? Recall that they give (or used to give) sugar water to newborns in the hospital. Good luck, and please keep us informed.

  • agave syrup?

I don't have any, nor any idea where to buy it, and it probably isn't sold in 5mL bottles is it?

That's all I'd need for now.

    Thanks, though.

If mouse milk isn't sweet normally (is it?) then I shouldn't need to sweeten its current formula, right ?

Sugar water: maybe for one feed, but not as a replacement for milk. This baby formula (and all others, I'm sure, has tons of nutrients in it. Must be good for mice. I will keep you informed.

  • I agree. In my situation, I couldn't get kitten formula, and I've tried cows milk in the past & they died a terrible death from bloat - I was warned by the vet not to do that again. It's a tough call. She suggested that kitten formula was closer in chemical composition to mouse milk.

All mothers' milk is relatively sweet. It contains lactose, which is a milk sugar. That's why cow's milk given to human children is implicated in Type 1 diabetes.

  • I bought 250mL of Liddells Lactose-free milk. As I'm told mice are lactose-intolerant. Been feeding him that. A pet shop had 4 lactating does I could possibly put my mouse with, but she said 30% of the time, she tries this, the mother kills the intruder, even when she (person) goes to the effort of making the intruder smell like the other pinkies. So I don't wanna risk it, but I am also taking a risk by feeding it myself. Dunno the best option! :(

  • How is he today? I've experienced animal kills, with gerbils & with goldfish. Difficult to understand, unless it's a self preservation about milk quantity. Certainly it cannot be about self defense.

I agree that it's often so difficult to know the best option. Sometimes we witness a miracle, while other times, as was the case with my beloved Micmac, that unfair tragedy occurs no matter what we do or how hard we pray.

  • I found 5 baby mice (house mouse). probably only a day old. There were 3 adult mice in the box with them. One escaped. I caught the other 2 (by hand). One looked SOO pregnant. I put all 7 of them in a cage, plus a tame mouse and later found the pet one had attacked 2 of the babies. So they died. I removed my pet, and later the pregnant one escaped. I hoped she would feed the babies. After a day... they appeared to be abandoned. And only 1 was left alive. He's a little fighter!! I took him...

  • Ah!! He's so CLOSE to being grown! :(

    I'm so sorry...

I lost my three mice just two days ago.

I cried so much. My sympathy to you.

  • I have weak spot for rodents, even though they are considered vermin. I truely understand that all babies deserve a chance in life, even if they were just parasites. I know we don't feel like it's a big deal when we exterminate all the bugs and rodents that's in our living space, but somehow when we are faced to face with a hurt and injured animal, we can't help it but let our compassion take over. It's only human that we're such hypocrites.

  • You could have just kep him and your cats! You should have put his cage in a room that the cat's can't go in, you bozo.

  • Can you tell me what happened to him?

  • I made the difficult decision to take in all my cats & leave him in the forest. A one in a million chance, but if you've read stories of remarkable animal compassion, you know that there might have been a chance that he would have survived, taken back to a nest. I've watched baby mice die in my care (veterinarian assisted) and wanted to give this little guy the chance I could not give him.

I refused to go back to see. It broke my heart, you should know. I've had a pet rat., loved him.

  • I just found one to day and we have know idea what to do with him. I have six rats so we love rodents and we don't want to see him die.

  • The best suggestion I received was to give him some agave or maple syrup in water, one drop at a time. Keep him warm. Know that kitten milk available through a veterinarian, will kill him, as will cow's or goat milk. Please keep in touch, tell me what happens. Rodents are marvelous creatures. If you send me your email address, I will send you a eulogy I wrote for a friend's rat that will bring tears to your eyes.

  • -Big deal just a mouse, in Vietnam every year after summer, the government give to all of us food poison for mouse,mice...within 24 hours you see all family of rat die in Mekong river....

    - I feel funny when I read ABANDONED mouse...BIG deal American

  • Humanity is judged by their compassion to all living creatures. Humans may someday destroy their very existence, but animals live in harmony with nature. You might just as easily say that dolphins are idiots for rescuing drowing people - they're just inferior humans after all. My kindness extends to all humans & all animals - it's why I'm vegan.

And I'm Canadian, by the way, in that peaceful, friendly, safe, clean country to the north of the United States.

  • thats a horrible thing to say. why would you tell someone who obviously loves animals that you kill helpless creatures? that is vile. keep comments like that to yourself. everyone has a right to live, and just because theyre animals doesnt take that right away.

  • my sister bought a mouse the other day. we had it for a day and a half, looked in the cage and there were 6 tiny pinkys in there aswell. so it turned out we had bought a pregnant mouse. BUT THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAD HAPPENED TO US. a few yrs ago she bought wot she was told was a male (so it was put in a cge at the pet shop with boys wen it was a girl and they got jiggy) 2 weeks after we got it there were 7 little prwan things in there

  • Hope everything turned out okay with this baby.. understand perfectly and would have had to do exactly the same thing you did. No way could I have left it there. Fortunately there's a wildlife rehab facility just a few miles from me, but otherwise don't know what else I would have done. You're a wonderful friend to animals and nature.

  • what i did for a baby mouse my cat found was i took some mashed potato flakes and mixed it in hot water, he died a week later probly from cold

  • aww

    it looks like a Carl

you shod go to your local pet shop and find a mouse mother and put him in there

  • jzathey please tell me the mouse it's ok... :-ss

  • take him to a pet shop and get some information on how you could take care of him.

  • try orange or strawberry juce its good for them fresh squeesed is better my mouse is smaller and 1 year old maby difreint type of mice : p

  • So sweet. You want to save them all, but it can't be done. Take it from a pro.

  • My cat raided a mouse nest under my house and dropped a baby on my bed, I couldn't stop crying

he couldn't see let alone walk. But he's okay now

=] he's with me and he's healthy But I hope that mouse is okay.

  • my cat once raided a bird nest late at night. The babies seemed fine, I was going to call a vet in the morning to find out how to care for them but they were dead when I woke up, probably from shock. Was very sad. can you give us an update?

  • Since it's a baby, you might wanna try getting a hot water bottle, bag, or something filled with hot water, wrap it in a towel, and place it next to the baby to keep it warm. This baby is a tad to old for that but ya' never know.

    Good luck.

    :]

  • you should take it to some animal shelter, they could save him

  • What a wonderful person, you show compassion and caring for even the earth's tiniest creatures.

  • Poor thing. You shouldve just put itout of its misery.

  • I don't think it's a mouse, or if it is it can't be that young.

    Looks like a vole, maybe.

    Okay I don't know what I'm talking about :p

  • Looks like a vole too. Such a precious little thing.

  • Hi exeptionnal ladie...I just saw your little mouse video and I hope you had found a solution for that little baby mouse. I would love to have some news to know if she is still a live...Last year it happen to me to find an adult mouse in my chalet during winter time and i kept her till spring and put her back to nature in forest... I hope you had tought to call an exotic pet veterinary...They always know what to do and they also sale special milk... Please get back to me if you d'ont mind.

  • Aww bless your heart ... it's heartbreaking when nature leaves a little person alone like that. At least he had your caring hand and some love.

  • it's not a little person... that would be a child. It's a mouse, of some sort. And I love mice... I keep my won here... I've got photos... just no video and haven't posted the photos. Well, on facebook I have...

  • lol mice are little people too!

  • It's beautiful.

  • use puppy formula stuff Esbilac or something.

    aww he's adorable ^^

  • Oh thats darling! But isn't there a chane it may have rabies?

  • Your such a great person :)

  • I would've gotten some puppy milk "ebsilac" and kept him, I could not leave that poor little thing there.

  • you should of kept him as a pet :) he would of had a beter chance of livving?

  • he is beautiful and i agree with wunderbeast, that is a really kind thing to do.

I think you should use some kind of formula for food.

  • realy cute

  • Compassion is most certainly one of the most notable virtues in human beings. You definitely have it.

  • Oh, poor little mousie!! Too cute; FIVE stars!

  • I found an article saying to use soy formula! I will send you a link.
