Thanks for posting this video. Im a shelter volunteer with a background in criminal justice. I socialize pit bulls every time I volunteer. I've never had a problem with aggressiveness, never been bitten. I just walked an 8 month old the other day whom I had never seen and she was very sweet. If you raise the pit to be social they will be, if you raise them to fight that's what they will do. ITS THE OWNER, NOT THE BREED YOU IGNORANT FOOLS!
My mother and I have rescued 14 pit bulls since I was about 5. Some we kept, others we fostered and gave to caring homes. Not a single one of them was vicious. We've had my 13 year old pit, Buster, since he was two weeks old and he gets along with children, cats, other dogs, everyone. It's all about how these powerful dogs are raised. They're the most loving creatures and I wouldn't share my own bed with these dogs if it were any other way. Gotta love ignorant America. :)

I'm not actually sure why you got SO man thumbs down on this comment. It is true that Organised dog fighting is NOT the main cause of BSL. A 'real' dog fighter will NOT have a human aggressive dog! (I do not agree with dog fighting, I think it's disgusting).

Very nice video showing the loving side of Pitbulls! I really wish the media would stop bashing them every chance they get. Nice story; I was in the vet with my female German shepherd... another breed targeted as a viscous breed, and me and my dog sat right beside a lady w/her Pitbull. My German shepherd and the Pitbull got along fine and were well behaved, yet.... a Lab.. wich everyone thinks is perfect, had to be removed because it was out of control! Punish the deed, NOT the breed!

I live across a street from a dog shelter out of which dogs are taken on walks by reflective green-vested wearing volunteers periodically. Interesting to note is that pitbulls are the most frequently seen - and I do mean THE MOST frequently seen- clients taken on these walks! What does that signify? Hmmm? You see it your way while I'll continue to see it mine.

However if the dogs become the reviews of the sports, then the dogs are not to be blamed, the dog owners are to be blamed. To finish my story, it's been 3 months and I wanted to die, I'd lost hope through the pain, a dog with no hope looked at me one day as if to say, "I had no choice, they WANTED me to die, don't give up your choice to live." That baby loves my boy, she loves my wife, and damn you hateful sorry bastards to hell, she loves YOU even, I don't know why. But that dog refuses to hate people, no matter what they have done or said, she visits the dog park weekly and plays like a puppy.
Hey guess what, I have cancer, and I have an 11 month old son, our best friend was on the pts list. The PTS for those who don't know it is put to sleep. She was given a week, three days in there was a plea, they said she was going to be put down on day four becuase some other 'non' aggressive breed needed her cage. My wife with tears in her eyes called the woman, and said, "Forget the price I want the dog." My wife rescued an 8 month mixed pittbull with no history. I'm glad she did.
One more pit owner here to tell you my girl was used as a bait dog in NYC when she was a puppy. She was dumped in an alley half dead, beaten and nearly starved to death with her brother. She had pneumonia and stayed in the vet's office 2 weeks so she could be kept alive. Today she is a lap dog. She obeys every word and loves to share her bed with her best friend, my 20 year old cat. She will roll over and be submissive to my neighbor's 5 pound Yorkie mix.

I guess sometimes people like me never see the light until i'm hit by a car. I went to church today to make a donation. Someone saw my American Bulldog and I was not even asked to leave I was demanded like my dog came from hell. All because they thought she was pitbull. Church people can go to hell as far as i'm concerned. BSL only creates fear and hate.

Rotwillers, Doberman s, German sheps can be a wild bunch too, but again, that is up to the owners. If the owners don't provide a positive lifestyle to them , just like any other dog, they can become bad. Many people want dogs to become protective because of crime but they don't know what to do if things get out of hand. Doggie parks should be allowed a place where people can bring their dogs to get to know the other dogs. Kind of like "Doggie socilization"

I have owned two pitbulls myself and they were both tolerant and loving to my small children. Both were females and we immediately had them spayed. I personally would never breed a pitbull just because you don't know what the buyer will do with the puppy.

I have a rotty and a boxer myself, and if ANYONE tried to take them from me I would fight them to the death. And I've seen many, MANY pit bulls in my life. All of them are gentel and kind. Shoot, I'd play with my neighbors pit when I was little.
I would put my house for sale and leave with out a thought, if I was told I couldn't keep my dog! She is my sister, my best friend. Gave up things before for her, she would do the same for me!

this video had me in tears. I love pitbulls so much. I have 2 and they are great. If someone came to me and tried to take my dogs off to be put to sleep, they'd have to kill me first. My other dog is a Golden/Tibetan Mastiff mix, and he has a protective personality. People will just walk up and pet him cause he's fluffy, and complain when they get growled at. But everyone is afraid to pet Kelsey because she is "viscous." Some guy even told me to "take that monster out in the woods and shoot it." BSL is super dumb, and won't solve anything.

Anything the government gets involved in becomes a total fuck up, you can count on that. This breed specific legislation nonsense won't even deal with the problem, which is unsupervised, improperly trained dogs, which=issue with owner. I agree with you 100% a long study found that 1.38% of dog bites are from actual pit bulls. On a list of 100 diffrent breeds pit bulls were 4th from the BOTTOM, labs and cocker spaniels were at the top. The top three are German Shepherds, Chow Chows, and Golden Retreivers. Dont beleive me that goldens are 3rd it even says it on Golden Retreivers Dogs 101 from Animal Planet.
Your video nearly brought me to tears. It was so beautiful and true. I just rescued a 7 month old female pit bull and she is the sweetest thing ever. Anyone who thinks these dogs are dangerous should just go and hang out with one like the wonderful examples I keep seeing. I bet their minds would change faster.

Lets not turn this into a debate over which race is more likely to fight pit bulls, ok? There are plenty of black people who know the right way to raise a dog, and there are also white people who fight them as well. I do agree that there need to be restrictions on who can own them and who can't, but those restrictions shouldn't be based on race.

The temperament test: three of the categories concern aggression. A Pom owner cannot and would not say their dog was trained to defend them. Two barks at the "threat" person, and the Pom fails. The Pitt owner simply says their dog has been trained to defend (schutzhund trained), then the Pitt could break his leash and attack the "threat" person who can't approach closer than 10 feet to the dog, and no points are deducted for the temperament test. Guess what dog the majority of ATT testers own.

Anyone else can become a victim based on the dog's judgement, and that has resulted in a death in the USA every 21 days over the last three years from pittbull type dogs. i worked at an animal hospital for a while and pit are illegal in denver and aurora but a man came in with his pit, bless his heart, he was bleeding and chewed up and beaten up, the man's neighboors dogs jumped the fence and beat his pit up. i knelt down while i was checking the man in and the poor thing just whined and licked my face and hands. i felt so bad for him.

I have rescued 2 as in Ontario Canada they are now banned , but no problems with hand guns.Many gave me a hard time , I am now paranoid of getting turned in , they have done nothing in 5 years. My new slogan is " go F--- Yourself if you don't like my dogs for the way they look

Breed Specific Legislation or BSL is horrible. It targets many dogs as 'dangerous' when thats not the case at all. Smoking kills over 400,000 people a year. Drugs kill over 10,000 people a year. Drinking kills over 1,000 people a year. Dogs kill 3 people a year at the mazimum. Why blame the dog for the way the owner raised it. There is no such thing as a bad dog, just a bad owner!

pit bulls are my fav breed of dog. i used to have one. she was absalute angel. people just say that they suck becase there the number one athletic dog ever pretty much. i love pitbulls. they are perfect dogs they just need a little more exersise to be realllllllyyyyyyyyy mellow. on one other video this guy said that his dog bit him so he killed it and mounted its head on a wall in his game room. i think thats just sick and twisted. and his friend wanted to get a pitbull and kill it the same way.

I saw one at the dogpark last year, and when the owner started punching her in the head as he carried her to his car, even the dog owners who had been afraid of her were shocked. Please indicate what steps have you taken to ensure owners of dogs that attack innocents are punished. The law in nearly every jurisdiction in the US assess a maximum fine of $100 to owners of dogs that permamently disfigure a person.
"The Deed" more or less refers to dog fighting, but you do bring up a valid point.
What can one do to prevent irresponsible breeding, or breeding out of the standard? Can the dog be considered a pit bull if it isn't within the standard (which doesn't tolerate any sort of human-aggression)?
I think there need to be criminal prosecution for irresponsible owners. Fines are assessed at the local level and vary from $25-100. Civil suits....can we agree that most of these people don't have anything of value?
Toss a few in jail for 5 years for a wrongful death and see how many attacks we have. My family used to be in the pet business and one after another, owners of Pits, Rottweillers, etc would come in. You could see they enjoyed intimidating the other customers. Sorry, it's true.
Yes, it's a mixed area with alot of renters. We had some neighbors who let their Pitbulls run around. One day they went after my toddler. My wife's friend was able to make enough noise to drive them off...so lucky. The neighbor received a $25 fine. If my son had died, the neighbor would have likely received a $25 fine. So, what do they care? All they know is they don't have to clean up after their dogs if they run into other yards.
Unfortunately dog attacks can happen anywhere,. and irresponsible owners can be anywhere. Just because someone is rich or middle class doesn't mean they are a responsible pet owner.

Yes, they may be more common in those areas, but that doesn't necessarily mean dog attacks don't occur in middle or upper-class neighborhoods. Thanks for posting this video. Im a shelter volunteer with a background in criminal justice. I socialize pit bulls every time I volunteer. I've never had a problem with aggressiveness, never been bitten. I just walked an 8 month old the other day whom I had never seen and she was very sweet. If you raise the pit to be social they will be, if you raise them to fight that's what they will do. ITS THE OWNER, NOT THE BREED YOU IGNORANT FOOLS!

My mother and I have rescued 14 pit bulls since I was about 5. Some we kept, others we fostered and gave to caring homes. Not a single one of them was vicious. We've had my 13 year old pit, Buster, since he was two weeks old and he gets along with children, cats, other dogs, everyone. It's all about how these powerful dogs are raised. They're the most loving creatures and I wouldn't share my own bed with these dogs if it were any other way. Gotta love ignorant America. :)

No Abnormalities Found In Dog Believed Responsible For Fatal Attack

Darla Napora, 32 and pregnant, was attacked on Aug. 11 by her family pet "Gunner," a 75-pound pitbull terrier, at her home.
She died as a result of the attack on her unborn child, ripping the unborn child from her womb. No other factors led to her death.

Tucson pitbull owner faces charges related to attack
A 24-year-old man was issued a criminal citation after police say his two pitbulls attacked an 86 y/o man and his dog this week.
Kevin Nelson is facing 14 misdemeanor violations, including six counts of vicious or destructive animal and two counts each of vaccination required, license required, license tag to be worn and dog being at large, said Sgt. Matt Ronstadt.

Jogger mauled by pit bulls gives horrifying account of attack
Shashi Bala, 62, gave her doctor a detailed account of the brutal attack last month after she came out of a medically induced coma earlier this week.
"She saw the animal in front of her," Riina said. "She tried to move in the opposite direction. The next thing she knew, one animal has each of her arms and THEY (pitbulls) WERE WORKING HER ARMS."
The pitbulls tore into Bala for more than five minutes, Riina said.

I'm not actually sure why you got SO man thumbs down on this comment. It is true that Organised dog fighting is NOT the main cause of BSL. A 'real' dog fighter will NOT have a human aggressive dog! (I do not agree with dog fighting, I think it's disgusting).
Our main problem is people who say 'Oh my dog would never hurt a child' and then leave their dog and child alone together. Especially grandparents.

Very nice video showing the loving side of Pitbulls! I really wish the media would stop bashing them every chance they get. Nice story; I was in the vet with my female German shepherd... another breed targeted as a viscous breed, and me and my dog sat right beside a lady w/her Pitbull. My German shepherd and the Pitbull got along fine and were well behaved, yet.... a Lab.. wich everyone thinks is perfect, had to be removed because it was out of control! Punish the deed, NOT the breed!

I live across a street from a dog shelter out of which dogs are taken on walks by reflective green-vested wearing volunteers periodically. Interesting to note is that pitbulls are the most frequently seen - and I do mean THE MOST frequently seen- clients taken on these walks! What does that signify? Hmmm? To finish my story, it's been 3 months and I wanted to die, I'd lost hope through the pain, a dog with no hope looked at me one day as if to say, "I had no choice, they WANTED me to die, don't give up your choice to live." That baby loves my boy, she loves my wife, and damn you hateful sorry bastards to hell, she loves YOU even, I don't know why. But that dog refuses to hate people, no matter what they have done or said, she visits the dog park weekly and plays like a puppy.

Hey guess what, I have cancer, and I have an 11 month old son, our best friend was on the pts list. The PTS for those who don't know it is put to sleep. She was given a week, three days in there was a plea, they said she was going to be put down on day four becuase some other 'non' aggressive breed needed her cage. My wife with tears in her eyes called the woman, and said, "Forget the price I want the dog." My wife rescued an 8 month mixed pittbull with no history. I'm glad she did.

One more pit owner here to tell you my girl was used as a bait dog in NYC when she was a puppy. She was dumped in an alley half dead, beaten and nearly starved to death with her brother. She had pneumonia and stayed in the vet's office 2 weeks so she could be kept alive. Today she is a lap dog. She obeys every word and loves to share her bed with her best friend, my 20 year old cat. She will roll over and be submissive to my neighbor's 5 pound Yorkie mix.

Someone saw my American Bulldog and I was not even asked to leave I was demanded like my dog came from hell. All because they thought she was pitbull. Rotwillers, Doberman s, German sheps can be a wild bunch too, but again, that is up to the owners. If the owners don't provide a positive lifestyle to them , just like any other dog, they can become bad. Many people want dogs to become protective because of crime but they don't know what to do if things get out of hand. Doggie parks should be allowed a place where people can bring their dogs to get to know the other dogs. Kind of like "Doggie socilization"

I have owned two pitbulls myself and they were both tolerant and loving to my small children. Both were females and we immediately had them spayed. I personally would never breed a pitbull just because you don't know what the buyer will do with the puppy.
Its crazy how far off the mark this country has gotten considering we used to paint the image of pit bulls on our fighter jets in WWII. They were the national dog breed! Thank you for posting this video.

this video had me in tears. I love pitbulls so much. I have 2 and they are great. If someone came to me and tried to take my dogs off to be put to sleep, they'd have to kill me first. I wouldn't give them up without a fight. They'd do the same for me. Pitbulls are amazing dogs. Watch my pitbull videos too. :) I've got pics of all the pits I've had in the past few years.

Aw this is the cutest video i've ever seen! I have a 2 yearold Pit, Kelsey, and she is the sweetest dog ever, she loves everyone. My other dog is a Golden/Tibetan Mastiff mix, and he has a protective personality. People will just walk up and pet him cause he's fluffy, and complain when they get growled at. But everyone is afraid to pet Kelsey because she is "viscous." Some guy even told me to "take that monster out in the woods and shoot it." BSL is super dumb, and won't solve anything.

I agree with you 100% a long study found that 1.38% of dog bites are from actual pit bulls. On a list of 100 diffrent breeds pit bulls were 4th from the BOTTOM, labs and cocker spaniels were at the top. The top three are German Shepherds, Chow Chows, and Golden Retreivers. Dont beleive me that goldens are 3rd it even says it on Golden Retreivers Dogs 101 from Animal Planet.

Anyone who thinks these dogs are dangerous should just go and hang out with one like the wonderful examples I keep seeing. I bet their minds would change faster.

wrenchinthecogs i agree with you so much. if we go by the logic of killing pits because some of them attack because they were not properly raised then why not kill all blacks because a lot of black people kill as well. take oj for instance. and u know what will happen if pits are completely destroyed then another dog will be trained for violence and we would have to kill that breed off and it will keep on going till every dog on the planet is wiped out

Lets not turn this into a debate over which race is more likely to fight pit bulls, ok? There are plenty of black people who know the right way to raise a dog, and there are also white people who fight them as well. I do agree that there need to be restrictions on who can own them and who can't, but those restrictions shouldn't be based on race.

I cried harder then I have ever cried in my life. People have to understand that these dogs are quite possible the sweetest dogs to own, if you dont believe me. Talk to a pit bull owner. We love max, he is the most unique dog our family has ever owned and we wouldnt trade him for anything in the world. He would risk his life for us.

I really don't understand why people trust the media in the first place. hate to burst YOUR bubble, but Pit Bulls are good dogs. I've met a few and the only mean ones that I've seen are the ones that belong to irresponsible pet owners. End of the story. BSL isn't just about fighting pits, it's about those who buy pits just to be a "MACHO" dog and don't take the time to socialize it. Dog Fighting is just as bad, it's called animal abuse.

The temperament test: three of the categories concern aggression. A Pom owner cannot and would not say their dog was trained to defend them. Two barks at the "threat" person, and the Pom fails. The Pitt owner simply says their dog has been trained to defend (schutzhund trained), then the Pitt could break his leash and attack the "threat" person who can't approach closer than 10 feet to the dog, and no points are deducted for the temperament test. Guess what dog the majority of ATT testers own.

Anyone else can become a victim based on the dog's judgement, and that has resulted in a death in the USA every 21 days over the last three years from pittbull type dogs. i worked at an animal hospital for a while and pit are illegal in denver and aurora but a man came in with his pit, bless his heart, he was bleeding and chewed up and beaten up, the man's neighboors dogs jumped the fence and beat his pit up. i knelt down while i was checking the man in and the poor thing just whined and licked my face and hands. i felt so bad for him.

Evil is a human concept and any person who kills an innocent loving dog simply because of its breed is evil. I think they do. Most of the people behind the BSL like PETA and various other organizations don't actually care about people or animals. They're the kind to rescue 100's of dogs from dog fighting, raise money for them, then put all the dogs and puppies to death befor the culprits even go to trial.

I have rescued 2 as in Ontario Canada they are now banned , but no problems with hand guns.Many gave me a hard time , I am now paranoid of getting turned in , they have done nothing in 5 years. My new slogan is " go F--- Yourself if you don't like my dogs for the way they look

Breed Specific Legislation or BSL is horrible. It targets many dogs as 'dangerous' when thats not the case at all. Smoking kills over 400,000 people a year. Drugs kill over 10,000 people a year. Drinking kills over 1,000 people a year. Dogs kill 3 people a year at the mazimum. Why blame the dog for the way the owner raised it. There is no such thing as a bad dog, just a bad owner!

thanks so much for being a pitbull supporter, im tired of people walking up to pet my tucker ( my pitbull) and giving him love, then asking the famous question: ' aw hes sooo cute what kind of dog is he?' i reply: ' pitbull' and they normaly say, oh hes to nice to be a pit bull, then nervously walk away.
my dog is the love of my life and no one will EVER take him away from me due to ignorance!

pit bulls are my fav breed of dog. i used to have one. she was absalute angel. people just say that they suck becase there the number one athletic dog ever pretty much. i love pitbulls. they are perfect dogs they just need a little more exersise to be realllllllyyyyyyyyy mellow. on one other video this guy said that his dog bit him so he killed it and mounted its head on a wall in his game room. i think thats just sick and twisted. and his friend wanted to get a pitbull and kill it the same way.

These are dogs, not monsters, and I'm so sick of the media's hand in the destruction of this breed. (To say nothing of the assholes who get them and make them mean. I saw one at the dogpark last year, and when the owner started punching her in the head as he carried her to his car, even the dog owners who had been afraid of her were shocked. No one knew what to do.)

Please indicate what steps have you taken to ensure owners of dogs that attack innocents are punished. The law in nearly every jurisdiction in the US assess a maximum fine of $100 to owners of dogs that permamently disfigure a person.

What can one do to prevent irresponsible breeding, or breeding out of the standard? Can the dog be considered a pit bull if it isn't within the standard (which doesn't tolerate any sort of human-aggression)?

I think there need to be criminal prosecution for irresponsible owners. Fines are assessed at the local level and vary from $25-100. Civil suits....can we agree that most of these people don't have anything of value?
Toss a few in jail for 5 years for a wrongful death and see how many attacks we have. My family used to be in the pet business and one after another, owners of Pits, Rottweillers, etc would come in. You could see they enjoyed intimidating the other customers. Sorry, it's true.

Yes, it's a mixed area with alot of renters. We had some neighbors who let their Pitbulls run around. One day they went after my toddler. My wife's friend was able to make enough noise to drive them off...so lucky. The neighbor received a $25 fine. If my son had died, the neighbor would have likely received a $25 fine. So, what do they care? All they know is they don't have to clean up after their dogs if they run into other yards.
