  • why do think there are so many fast food resturants? how many times have gobbled food while driving? people hardly have enoght time to eat let alone cook, how come so many people are 60 who have worked thier entire life and are still scrapeing, the more they tighten the screws, the faster we go, it would be nice to give back sum work and take back sum of our lives, i dont know the solution is?

  • wow-great song with a message we should have heeded then. Now....

  • I was reading the comments, and did anyone listen to the words? It's about big business taking over, destroying the environment. No regulation. Nothing sacred, all about $. "Drill baby drill", mountain top removal, polluted skies, predatory lending, sending your job overseas, big business tax breaks, and stick it to the poor and middle class. I worked for a lobbiest firm, follow the largest doners and see who is who. Big $ spent to fool you, propaganda. Not race, class, divided we fall.........

  • No politicians wrecked this country the fuckin people and there greed wrecked it and saying anything else is simply blaming others and passing the buck

  • when a tornado is electrically charges the simple description goes a little like this GOD IS PISSED

  • if any one can get me a free web download of this please reply me and my dad love this song

  • These are some awesome pictures.

  • @PurpleSausage FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!! Bush didnt ruin this country, his stratagies caugh Bin Laden, ASK OBAMA, and hmm, lets see, if he was so terrible why did people vote him in again? Thats what I thought, lets see, more unemployment now then when he was in office. More MADE IN AMERICA, parts when he was in office. No "spread the wealth" communist shit, and no THOUGHT of gun control with the government!!!!!!!! BUSH=USA!! GREATNESS, STAND UP FOR THIS COUNTRY PEOPLE!!!!!

  • @redneckcubpuller

    Best be trollin

  • @redneckcubpuller Sadly half of what you say is truth. However your mannerisms make you about to be an over zealous ass not unlike a lot of the people you probably hate. If you want to avoid being a cunt towards people who'll fucking hate you more for your gun-hoe patriotism I'd suggest you tone it down a bit, and speak more intellectually... In other words. Stop makes us conservatives look like stupid intolerant dickheads! Your giving people like a me bad fucking name!

  • @knifewound5 Right, it's "conservatives" like you that are gonna run this country in the ground, if people dont grow balls and stand up for what they believe this country will be ruled by communists, and there will be no guns. How do you think all the lawyers do there job now? cuz they are crooked as shit! If someone would stand up to them fuckers they wouldnt be out for the money, they would be out for Justice!!!!!!! What America is all about

  • @redneckcubpuller You sound just as bad as a religious fundamentalist, and if not worse than a skin head. Look, your yelling at somebody who shares most of your personal beliefs in politics just because I'm not out for blood. I believe in firm justice however when justify that with hate you become a generant to a problem. Nothing more than gasoline trying to put out a fire.

  • @knifewound5 don't talk shit bout skinhead

  • @autinddavis95 Why not? They don't deserve sympathy...

  • @knifewound5 but is it racism if you hate all races equaly???

  • @autinddavis95 That just makes you a dick, not a racist.

  • The Conservatives aren't in power at this time. The present day commander is off course-and off his nut if he thinks his policies are going to save us.

  • To everyone who was offended by my bitter, selfish comment, I sincerely apologize. I was shocked when I went back and saw what I had written. Of course McCall is one of the best, or I wouldn't be listening to his music. There isn't really any excuse, but I was in a foul mood at the time. Dinnertime now; more fowl (Crow). Again, sorry.

  • @idiotika I can appreciate where you were coming from, and also appreciate your standing up and apologising. As a C.W. fan, I know he was keen about our world and the environment. However, he wasn't a tree hugger type as his jeep songs will attest. I think this one is probably his disgust with our "dsposable" society we seem to be stuck with. To bad there aren't more singers like him!

  • @idiotika

Actually, he said it's still his favorite.

One should take music in the context and era it was created in.

  • @idiotika if you cant accept the fact that the world today is becoming EXACTLY as portrayed in this song then take this advice GET THE FUCK OUT OF OUR COUNTRY YOU WHINY PIECE OF CRAP !!!!!!!!

  • @Pbrock67 HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!! I agree, it is EXACTLY what this country is coming to!

  • Wild fires in West TX sure ring this song true. I'm ashamed of what our great country has become with many demanding entitlements they haven't earned or deserve.

  • if we don't rein in the bleeding heart liberals , greens and other assorted no hoper's

this song will be our epitaph.

  • This should have been the theme song for the 1987 mini series Amerika and the 1986 movie Red Dawn.

  • /watch?v=BuQtlAekTVw&lc=3dV665H88X-HXIH_5vLbrVzB6bwAqgpgmYLsQGTKB4M&feature=inbox

  • wtf @ 0:11

  • The whole damn world's going to be made of styrene... love it

  • I think it was Stalin who said if you can separate a people from their past, you can control their future.

  • This song gave me chills when it came out in the 70's...and it does so even more today!

  • Allright, I have to alter the last comment, was too fired up...This song does have some political implications but they are not directed at one side or the other but Authority in general and the powers that be that yearn to limit freedoms. This ties in with nature preservation and the struggles against Corporate America who wish to profit on Earth's resources without regard for conservation!....By the way, Outstanding video and was one of my favorites as a teenager in the 70's..

  • All you morons that think this a political song are clueless! this song was written mid-70's when environmental concerns were major issues and were talked about everyday. CW is an outdoorsman and advocates preservation of nature, that is what it is about..Sure we are faced with even more dire consequences now, but apathy and ignorance are not the answer! So revive some brain cells & start thinking for yourself for a change, instead of being poisoned by all the crap being fed to you!..

  • here has America gone and when well e go back to what we were founded on

  • Whether Tweedle-Dee or Tweedle-Dum runs the US doesn't matter anymore. The whole world is in deep trouble, ecologically, politically, morally and financially. No need to blame any one group, there is plenty of blame and shame to go around. More to the point, what can we do about it now? Where do we look for answers?

  • @MsSnowwalker We should look UP to God, too many people nowadays blame God for wars, no matter what religion your in i'm sure they ALL preach PEACE. People i believe all to a degree want to live in peace with eacth other, but our respective governments want power and they start lying about each other, we get this illusion of our freedom being threatened by others when its our own LEADERS who are taking our freedom from us.

  • I am an easterner from WV that has spent some time in CO. Same message. I'm not a tree hugger, but this song tells what we can expect if things don't change.

  • You can and should love our country... BUT YOU DAMN WELL BETTER FEAR OUR GOVERNMENT!!!! This song is relevant!! And dumb ass fools like you cant see it?? Wake up!!!

  • Whut is his address i want to rite him a letter

  • This is a warning of electing republicans and letting them sell us out to oil companies/ saudies. Thats why we did take back OUR country

  • @phanovphloyd That is the dumbest statement I've see on this site. I've never seen a republican president bow to the leader of another nation. You liberals/socialists are going to tax us into oblivion.

  • @pinenut50 Go look there is video out there of Reagan, Bush 1 and Bush 2 bowing to Japanese dignetaries. Plus G.W. sure looked happy holding hands with tha Suadie king when he came to visit (holding hands is common for men in the middle east not men in Texas) Quit getting your talking points from FOX. Plus we need to pay taxes to pay for Bushs bailouts and his expantion of government(homeland secruity, new military base in Iraq0

  • this is your future under the third reich, barrak obama, nancy pelosi, and harry reid.

  • it is ironic though ,I like this song but i see this as the song describing what the republicans did to America in the '80s and '00s....

  • Amazing how relevant to the world today...... What memories and truths inthis song.

  • Written in the 70's..............it's almost like he knew the left wing was coming

  • They've already taken it away, some time ago..."They" being the avoricious, unregulated Capitalists.

  • "Say whatever you like about the nation, but leave my country alone." (Edward Abbey)

  • good vid to an awsome song, I need to get the cd's again. I remember listening to them many nights when I needed something to keep me awake on those long dispatches

  • I remember listening to this song on 8-trak. As my mom and I would drive to pick my brother up from college. Guess this dates me!

  • i always listen to this on road trips through cali, and while driving through the northern areas where i come from, what is still left is greatly appreciated and loved

  • GREAT VIDEO, mrpickwick666! I'm impressed! Does this song proud!

  • This song always gives me the chills!

  • this song was way ahead of his time.. but maybe just maybe ole CW had a vision.. who knows... but it sounds like whats happening ... especially the ripping off all mountains.. in my state...

listen up listen up people... oh pioneers oh pioneers.....

  • i czemu bedac kims tak Ci sie pochrzanilo w zyciu?

  • kim Ty jestes?

  • Don't you think this song was ahead of it's time

  • this is what is happening today.

  • How BLOODY revelant this song is to the state of America today! It's time to take back your country, people!!!

  • @eldorado62 I agree with you but I feel it will never happen I was just in Europe and saw how its done right

  • I think it will happen. It's getting worse as time goes by. All we do is talk about how we're going to change things, but we never actually do.

  • @sephiroth1277 hmm very true I just hope changes here come in time but hell we Americans cannot quit bickering with each other that is a real problem I used to be a pretty one sided American like alot of others thinking we were so great but haveing done several trips in Europe and Asia I have seen how bad off we really are I was just in the UK and Germany and saw how its done right but we shall see he did this sevreal years ago and it had meaning I agree with you now more than EVER

  • SEPHIROTH!

  • The meaning of this song is more important today than when this song was written. Maybe we ought to elect CW to President of the U.S. of A.

  • @highwayhooker1 hell yah I agree

  • @highwayhooker1 he's got my vote

  • @highwayhooker1 at least he has some experience in office, lol.

  • WHN 1050 Country in New York City. This song was shot to the soul friends. 1976. Timely, imaginative and apocalyptic.

  • That's the coolest song ever made, about the end of the world. I was 17 when I heard this song almost 30 years ago. People felt like the time was close, then too.

    It's fun only in fantasy.

Although there may be exceptions to the rule, I've noted that the biggest talkers about surviving the after apocalypse world, are the biggest pussy-whiners whenever the weather is too hot, or too cold, and the end of the world, all scream, all bitch scenario is breaking down on the freeway..

  • true story

  • Don't you think this song was ahead of it's time. because of it speaking out about pollutiom, and our country, etc.

  • many times bills music kept me awake and rolling my rig his long long lonesome hwy songr ealy tells it like it is for trucker along with windshield wipers in the rain

and i am disabled now mostly blind and his music bring back memories of rolling fom sun to sun in the wind

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting this....

I loved Bill's (CW's) music growing up. It was one of the few things my Dad and I could agree on in the car. It was because of him I got my Dad into listening to Kansas and Steve Miller too. McCall/Fries is HIGHLY underated. The best way to discribe his music is a cross between Progressive Rock and Country Western (Talk about an ICONOCLAST!) the musicians who became Mannheim Steamroller were his backing group.

This song still holds up! BRILLIANT!

  • On Youtube I was watching people protesting the Mountaintop removal mining in West Vergina and I remembered this song. It's hard to believe this song was from 1976.

  • man, scared the cr*p out of me! something to think about.......

  • hell yah thie first time i heard it wasnt sure what to think but I have it on a cd and really listened to the lyrics underneeth and it has a hell of a scarry message at first I though he ment country music but he ment the US way of life and hell it is scarry and true more now than ever since we are all looseing our rights

  • this song is so true, sent chills down my spine when i was a kid and this song came out and it still does..

  • I agree I remember it too

  • Thanks for the video, I like your take on the song. Do you have a C W McCall song called "Mountains on my Mind?
