I jusy got my SLS AMG. I like it because it's different,but I will be going back to porsche as soon as I am done beating on this.The twin turbo 911 kicks this things ass on the streets(as far as acceleration and handling).Still,it is fast.

Does anyone care if this can beat the ZR1? I don't think so. This car has the class and quality of a Mercedes-Benz. If you can afford this car, you can probably buy all the ZR1's you like to trash around.

I care and the car magazines care. There are plenty of mags pitting the SL 65 AMG vs the ZR1, but the ZR1 killed it. auto mags are looking for supercars that can beat the ZR1, but so far no one can.

Eventually they will put the SLS against the ZR1.

I do agree that beating the ZR1 on a lap would be one hard thing to do, but on the looks the SLS Gullwing is a pure gem! I am not saying that the ZR1 is ugly (far from it), but GM should have given a different look to its ZR1 because it looks just like a ''normal'' Corvette.

Don't forget that GM made the ZR1 as an affordable supercar. It was made to perform not for it's looks or luxury like a ferrari, lambo or sls. there is nothing under $500K that can touch the $109K ZR1 on the street or on the track. ZR1 is 60% carbon fiber, enzo brakes, magnetic suspension, and 638HP. ZR1 literally beats all ferrari's except enzo, all porche's including carrera gt, all lambo's, all mercedes, and all bmw's. people that buy a ZR1 will buy it for it's performance over luxury/looks.

But than again the lambo's faster on the top gear track, than you can saythe vette's faster on nurburgring. The nurburgring is wayyyyy to long to see a cars true speed, its more just a test of durability and more of a test of the drivers consistancy and lack of mistakes... as a result I guess me or you can say whos faster because each car is more suited for a specific track.

top gear is a tv show not a legit source of any type of automotive testing. with that said, the ZR1 and R8 was conducted on a damp track. per top gear rules you must deduct -2s for dry time making the ZR1's 1:20.4 DAMP to 1:18.4 DRY beating out the SV's 1:19. the ZR1 also beat out the AWD R8 on a DAMP track making it the fastest damp lap time. yes, top gear sucks! i hate those baboons!
