What was the MAC operating on your iMac? Was it snow leopard? I get upto 4:40 easily but when it reboots, it asks me to press any key to boot from the disk, obviously I don't want it to boot from the CD coz it will repeat the first process all over again but when I let it time out, it says 'disc error'. I would of loved to see what happened in the video after 4:40? I am using a pirated copy of the Windows, could this be the reason?
I've installed "Win XP Service Pack 1a" under bootcamp. I realized I needed SP2 or higher. I'm not able to get on the Internet or install any drivers. Is it possible to go onto the Mac partition & download a SP2 update, then switch to the XP partition & install the update there from a USB?
hey what kind of your mac my is powermac g5 i bought it from an other guy i am not sure that it is a intel base or not the think is i can not fing the bootcamp in it so do i have to download it some where and instal it, i want to instal windows in it
I've tried this once on my mac using win xp service pack 1a. found out i needed service pack 2 or later. IT wouldn't let me install my drivers so i coulnt't play my old win games or use the internet. I couldn't switch back to snowleopard so i had to put that in at bootup and press some command to boot off it. took an hr to reload snowloerpard. Nothing was lost thankfully.
so should i try again? do you know where i can get win xp service pack 2?
You could try again, but make sure it's Windows XP SP2 or later and that it's legit (no torrents). After you've followed the steps and installed it, Windows should work (just make sure you install the drivers through the Mac OS X Install disc).
@kamikim1 No idea if you ever found an answer to this question as it's been so long, but in the Boot Camp Control Panel there's an option to set the default operating system. You can also change it from within OSX too by selecting Starup Disk from System Preferences.
so lets say you get an Imac 21" with 1TB hardrive how would you partition both of them to ge the most out of the drive space? would 80GBs be enough for the operating system on the mac side and 80GB also for the Win side and the rest for storage space?
get a vaio ok
There's a very good reason for those 93 updates, though I'm sure with it being windows xp pro... there ware a ton more after that.
The main thing that we all know is that Microsoft related products have been a huge target for hackers simply because it has the largest market share available. One thing to keep in mind though, just imagine the amount of security holes to be patched if Linux ever became the largest market share. Especially with it being open source. HAHA!
I did everything your video says and when I went to reboot it after creating the partition etc my computer came up with 'do you want to run the cd' or something and then it went and reopened all the previous steps I already did. I tried ejecting the windows disk but then it just went to my regular mac. I see that all the files were copied but I didn't actually go through the rest of the process. I don't know what to do.
the first two screens i didnt have so wondering why... i do get te screen of partition3 bootcamp but the screen after that i dont get. coping files i did get.. but don't know what to do to get further.. so maybe someone can give me some tips. and i also will ask tomorrow to some friends. hope someone knows anything about it.
I used bootcamp, put on windows, but then I deleted it(don't ask why). But when i start my mac theres a blue screen, but then it goes black and it says that theres no system to boot on r someting. pls help me!
WOW! thanks for doing this video! I just bought a new mac mini 2009 and installed XP, but i couldn't find the drivers for it online anywhere! i didn't realize apple was awesome enough to actually give you windows drivers on your leopard disk! gonna do it right now :DDDDD
hey Im installed boot camp and then it didnt install corectly, everytime i try to restart it it goes back to the setup screen...how do I cancel it completly?!?!?!?/ im crapping my pants
Restart your computer(after the setup), and click your mouse and the disc should eject, and then you may need to restart again and it should load up in Mac OS X, and hopefully(for me it did) your Mac stuff should still be there. So then load up Bootcamp Installer and remove the partition, hope this helped.
i cant connect to the interent... after i installed. inserted the mac os x installation disk.. and installed everything. rebooted and still cant get on the internet. :(
thanks so much, lol i was crapping in my pants because i hadnt looked at the directions, thinking it would be easy. Your little double check earlier for the format change was what i needed to change. Thanks so much, 5stars and subscribe
hi there! i have a question. I have mac and i installed windows in my boot camp. I installed all the requirments. But, when i try to connect to the internet there is no signal or let say i cant connect to the internet. When i go back to the mac side i have strong signal of internet. What should i do to fix this problem? oh by the way i use Vmware fusion but it doesnt work that good for gaming. That's why i want to run in boot camp. plz help me thanks !
im switching from parallels to bootcamp due to gaming issues too hahaha ahmmm from what ive heard/seen to get airport working on windows u need to instal the proper drivers included on the Mac OS X dvd, or it also depends on the SP(Service pack of windows) you installed
When i go to install the drivers, I eject the windows xp disc, and i put in the mac os x disc, and it says something about A component missing or something and it won't let me install the drivers! Does anyone know what i did wrong?
hi there i have a question im thinking of putting windows xp on my mac as well but i have a question, will in need virus protection? when i use OSX i dont use virus protection. so what do you think?

You can use both. Whe you start your comp up, you can choose to use windows or mac. When you start it up anytime, you can use either windows or mac and the toher wont get deleted or harmed.
when you start up your mac normally, it will go into leopard, if you hold down option, a screen will pop up asking if you want windows or leopard. so it not going to be stuck on windows of course
Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again.
Screw macs and screw windows LINUX FTW woot!! this is my opinion leave me alone im sorry i personally feel linux is so cool st how powerful the operating system is is omg its just awesome i love it
This is the best instructional video out for installing windows xp. I viewed the video on my pc while installing windows xp on my mac book pro. Everything worked out fine. Only one problem: my mbp gets very hot when running windows so I had to download smc fan control to cool it down.
When I did a System Restore on my PC running Vista Home Premium, it had to install 58 updates! I made a cup of coffee and watched TV for a bit, took about an hour. But 93! You should have left it to do overnight.
