  • four bolts and the A-frame is off so much easyer i have this bike

  • so the adjustment on the rear shock is the only way to adjust ride height, am i correct?

  • my first measurment when the bike is on the stand is 586mm and when i sit on it it is 486. but can i turn the spring so that the first measurment is 620mm like on vid

and set sag again so the bike is a bit taller

    please reply

  • @ben1996ful

i will give you my opinion on that,i have nearly zero exp with dirt bikes but have worked on my sport bikes.

no putting more preload on the spring will not make that longer IF the bike is on the center stand BC the shock is already stretched to the max as the rear wheel SHOULD not be touching the floor.

  • @ben1996ful

you may be getting your dimension from a different spot as the OP or your sub frame may be tweeked.

if the sag number dont match or are not within spec,a higher rate spring may be needed

  • I need to do this, on my yz250f I always feel like I'm ridin a wheelie cause my back end is so low and my front is pretty high lol I dunno maybe I'm too big for it at 6' 3" and 210lbs :L

  • @paintballing03 you need a new bike. that bike is underpowered for your weight and height

  • @paintballing03 your way too big for that big, get a 125 AT LEAST. I am 5' 11" and on a 250f I am gettin ready for a 450 very soon because I am simply too big. lol.

  • I have just gottern a new yz125 but the guy i bought it from decided to lower the suspension about an inch or 2 How do i got about raising it up again without wrecking my sag?

  • 16 year old 140lbs kx 125 i have the sag set but what about the forks?

  • @ghat13 it is to stiff for u have ur local motorcyle shop adjust it for u, I'm not sure how it's goin to b when u jump I guess thts somethin ur gonna have to find out lol it will prolly throw the back end up buy all I can tell u is lean back lol

  • I weigh 120lbs and i just bought an rm125 from a guy who weighed 190lbs. While riding i almost get thrown off the bike if i hit any kind of small "whoops". I havent really jumped it yet but i dont know what is wrong. PLEASE HELP!!!! the suspension is PR2.

  • @ghat13 you get the suspension on your bike dialed yet?

  • @COLTON17SMITH yeah i changed out the springs and shock and gained about 10 lbs. lol....its so much fun at the track and i pretty much jumped everything there once i got the clickers dialed in

  • im 133 pounds, should i have my front forks soft or hard?

  • I am 15 years old, i weigh 125 lbs. I ride both 250f and 450f, if iget my rider sag right, i cant make my bike free sag right, can anybody help out whats the stock spring rate weight for a 2010 crf 250 and yzf 450? do i need to change the springs?

  • what is that thing that looks like a nos bottle on the right side of the bike?

  • @syderpaintballer its the reservoir that holds the suspension fluid. it holds a lot of pressure when the bike's suspension is compressed therefore making it look like a nos bottle or some compressed container of that type

  • how much sag

  • Why aren't all your fellow Americans flaming you for using the metric system in your measurements?

  • what happens if you dont bother with the Suspension and just ride

  • @kxsteven4 you won't go as fast because it won't be set up for you.

  • is this the same as setting the sag

  • i'm gonna try this out tommorow for sure

    thx marshall's racing ;D

  • Thank you very much. Very informative.

man there are some other stupid video's out there.... but this one rocks

  • sölva suspension!!! WOW

  • I wish I have a bike like that!!!

  • @MyCarlover 06 Yamaha YZ250F baby. Thats my bike but just not that clean.

  • thnks very imfomative and great

  • how can i tighten my front forks?

  • theres like these dials/screws on the top of your forks ajust them

  • Hey RidesMX: Are 12 years old? Clearly you don't ride mx as your name implies... If you did you'd know that in order to properly set ride height/sag you NEED to be in race-ready gear. He should actually have his helmet on too. Think before you chastise someone, or you'll end up looking like a fool yourself. Then again, if the shoe fits...

  • Kib, i would agree with you. But, before you go critiqueing people, remember there is a private message system for a reason. Don't be a dick and call people out like this whent hey are just new to whatever media they are talking about.

  • Hey, let's just ride! Are you the best one on this, the "know-it-all"! I've been riding since 1980! Unless you are racing the Pro Circuits, suspension is not going to slow you down that much. The last time I checked, KidBever wasn't racing with Travis Pastrana, Ricky Carmichael, Jeff Ward, Rick Johnson, and Bob "The Hurricane" Hanna! That goes back several decades. You watched this video for a reason, and I bet it wasn't just slam people. Maybe you didn't know how to adjust your suspension!

  • You're flaming me for a response that's 6 months old?? Nice.

Do you have any idea what I was responding to in the first place? RidesMX was a douche bag, flaming the rider for being in his gear while working in the shop.

I can drop names too. I know all about Bubba, Justin Weeks (read up on him, he could use the help) and Barcia. Oldies too: Stanton, Ward, and both Bailey's. But here's a couple guys you forgot to mention in your history lesson: DeCoster, MS, and Torsten Hallman... Go figure.

  • You seem to take stuff pretty personal, let's just ride!!! Sorry to offend you. My point was that you got on this site to learn something, or maybe brush up, maybe something you forgot or don't know? I'm not slamming anyone. don't forget, there was the day when you didn't know what you do now, right?

  • So whats the time frame for replying to comments?

Does that mean after 1 month the comment you made is void?

  • @gsbacorn dude are u retarded? thats one of the most important things on a bike.its not all about going as fast as you can all the time its about being comfortable on the bike

  • If you are a weekend rider, not traveling the pro-circuits, suspension just doesn't mean what it does to to you and me as it does to the pros. I didn't say anything about being comfortable. And anyway, you are basically agreeing with me. I also said it's not about always going fast. I for one, have learned something from this video. I have 7 bikes in my garage right now, and I have been riding for 30 years. Maybe you knew all of this. But like I said before, we all got on this site for a reason.

  • Dude your total kit weighs about 1 stone

  • i noticed that static sag wasn't mentioned which is pretty important. it's the best way to know if you have the correct spring for your weight and ability.

  • Hey I was wondering if you could let me know how high my 1998 YZ125 should sit//this would help me out alot

  • hi ive got yam 250 f and the suspension is poker spring like wen i jumps its flinging me all over the place and isnt cornering gud and wont sit comfortably over bumps how do i resolve dis\?

  • ajust the rebound. it sould be on the bottom of the sock.

  • hi i have rm-z250.. i need help stiffing up the suspension to make it better for jumping.. when i land from a high jump the front forks hit the limit as they get compressed if u know what i mean! I have no idea how to solve this prob..

  • I Just got a new 06 kx250. Does this technique apply to any type of shock? and next time, could you put the camera so we can see what is going on in the bike. thanks.

  • Race ready baby

  • the gear adds weight, which can effect the sag.

  • yeah like fucken 4-5 pounds...

  • Comment removed

  • is that stock shocks

  • are they? probably its looks brand new..

  • ooo ok

  • stick to quads =), i honestly dont know how you can ride those things.. everything from riding to jumping, theres only one plus, you can just walk away from it without leaning it or digging a hole to stand er up

  • quads aint really that good i dont race them just say racingquads like fast idk i was a way i said it it was cool i like motocycles alot more u can do shit when ur in the air with a quad

  • shows what you know.

  • what shows what i kno? are u fucked?

  • the difference is, real men ride dirtbikes...

  • true ppl who rides quads are pussies afraid they gonna fall

  • @Herrmanator8 FUCK YEAH

  • yo guys you know a lot of bikes so ... what type of paint or what can i use to make that my frame doesnt scratch too fast cause i spend a lot of money spraying it so wghat can i use???

  • PJ1 paint! you can order it from any bike shop and they also have it for the year of your bike.

  • get it powdercoated

  • pj1 makes oem match paint

  • the best part of this video was learning how to chuck my bike on the stand. nah jks the whole thing was good!

  • hey, i have a crf250r, im short so i cant touch flat foot. if i set my suspension low enough, to do so i gotta set the sag rele low. what do u recomend?

    help is appreciated

    thanks

  • measuring your race sag is not going to fuck anything up. what will fuck up your bike is changing the springs in your shock and not your forks (unless you know your forks are tuned perfectly for you).

  • very good tip, thank you guys

  • if you buy a random bike can you do the race sag or is there a certain number you have to start out with? please some get back to me???

  • Are 250's diffrent from 125's becuase i tried this on my 2000 cr 125 and its all crazy

  • I hope you guys feel proud about destroying how people's bikes control. Suspension(if not equal) will destroy how your bike handles, and will make your bike very hard to maneuver. In this video, you only set one suspension on the bike, clearly all the suspensions are not equal because you tampered only with one. There are 11 total suspensions you must changed and you have clearly not done this. That bike now is completely useless.

  • You must not know anything on suspension setup. It's called race sag, it's one of the most importand adjustment you can make. This isn't destroying anyones bike dumbass!

  • Calling me a dumbass >_> You must not have any info on dirtbikes. Read what that guy wrote about his 125. My friend has a 250 and replaced the suspension in this area of his bike and fucked up his bike because of it.

  • Dude I'm not wasting my time arguing with you. You prolly don't ride so you prolly shouldn't post comments about how your friend of a friends' bike fucked up! I've been riding for 10 years, the first thing you do is set the race sag for your weight. 11 suspensions? you must be retarded, 1:shock, 2:fork. Setting race sag doesn't "fuck" anything up DUMBASS!

  • ur so talkin out ur ass

  • how would it make such a big difference if you just adjusted your rear suspension a little. See, I like my front suspension, but i feel like im always bottoming out on the rear one.

  • you are 100% wrong yes you have to have the front and back even but race sag is the most important thing it makes a huge difference in weather your bike sticks in a corner or not... you must not race or u would no this

  • really good vid, add more!

  • The most difficult part about setting up a bike is being able to tell what is wrong when you ride it. Making changes is easy but no point if you cant tell what needs changed. The ride height has a huge effect on steering stability, soft sand needs the rear lower to increase the head angle and keep the front from running out of trail, raising the rear makes it slide speedway style and steer quickly between trees.

  • great vid 5* from me. As sixpack says, more vids would be good.

  • Marshalls Racing does great suspension work! It will save your ass! Marshallsracingdot com

  • 4 whellers are gaaaaaaaaaaay

  • how should i set up my suspension on my 4 wheeler

  • tha really helps up please post more videos tanks

  • i agree
