I went to belermines 74-79 and lived around the corner it was always a nice area growing up (nice families ) some of which are still around there today if the area has gone down nick it's because of the rubish from other areas moving there !!! Recognised mrs mcmanus mr lyonett and mr Johnson loved him music teacher dnt recognise any of the kids though enjoyed the film it was fab
Fantastic... It brought back so many memories. Who had the camera ? Bet it was Mr lyons coz Mr Johnson was too cool to bother filming...lol
I went to hammerbank twice, a few years after this was taken but loved every second of it... Health and safety what was that ? All we knew about was having fun.. and we all lived to tell the tales :)
Glad you enjoyed the video, been sitting on it for years and thought it would be good to post for posterity. If you approach the school, there is always a chance they will have the cine film from when you went; that's what i did, and just converted it. Oh, and I think the camera got passed around so they could all egg in on the action.
Brilliant! Thank goodness some people had the foresight to record this sort of thing for posterity. Great seeing how (little) Cumbria has changed in the past 30 odd years. '73 was the first year I went there, aslthough I don't admit to wearing flares at the time! Love the teacher's hairstyles as well! Some really imaginative camera work in this - great to see 'normal' stuff being filmed, not just the scenery. As for the kids running up & down hills - Health & Safety would have a fit now!!
Thanks for the comment. I agree Health and Safety would have a fit if this happened now-a-days. Guess the kids of today wouldn't be allowed to dangle their legs over the cliffs edge at Helvelyn while having lunch - they don't know what they're missing out on.
