When cats aren't spayed/neutered, they make these calls when they are in mating season. Males will come and serenade any females in your house - they can smell them. I thought most people knew that, but maybe not if there are so many comments about other reasons.

@yoohootube This is an angry cat--not a cat in heat. Every single one of my cats, past and present (which is many), have made this noise when feeling threatened by an 'invading' cat or even a dog. If the other animal comes closer my cats would lash out aggressively at it, still making this low 'singing' noise. So yes, spay and neuter your pets, but in this video the cat is angry, not ready to mate.
