I would have chosen a different song but the last line of the chorus, "Save me from the nothing I've become", is appropriate for Ryan Hunter-Reay because his season, apart from a 3rd place at Mid-Ohio, had been disastrous. That win fortunately saved him from becoming nothing.

Also by then, unfortunately, CART had become nothing (just about). Most of the top teams and drivers had defected to the IRL, leaving Tracy to duel the Newman-Haas boys and whoever else rose to the occasion.

Tracy was in top form I gotta say ! Braking systems require improving though. When your on slicks the cars traction and handling are ofcourse different to other grips which are used for street racing. The Surfers Paradise cirquit is one of my favourites. A fantastic race !

If you listen closely to the las few seconds of the video, Bob Varsha says something about the next race at California Speedway. The thing is, that race was canceled after CART went bankrupt

Actually, there was heavy fires in Fontana so they had to cancel the event.

No, that was 2000, and that race was run on a Monday. In 2003, wildfires less than two miles from the speedway forced total cancellation. Champ Car never ran at Fontana again.

i remember sitting there in the bartercard chicaine on the beachside of the track, being hailed on for the second year in the row! i was bitter, soaking wet, shivering cold but refused to move cause i knew this year the rain would blow over (local knowledge)

and it was worth it, that manning pass was just perfect! and RHR loosing it on the warm down lap at that chicaine as well... good god i love surfers paradise
