agreed that its difficult, dangerous.and needs skill...but that alone can't qualify it as a sport!...there are so many fancy routines in a circus..would they qualify as sport?
I like the way you talk. The idea of showing their body off for the masses, drawing attention, kind of flirting and using it, kinda...shady stuff...so...not a sport
I know there is a reason for this, but I have to say. I find it amusing how all these sex symbols are always, always female.
For instance. The sleek cat costume. Why is it that a female in said costume is hot, and a guy in similar (a fit guy that is) is "gay". You all do realize that there are male cat's and they are sleek in appearance as the female. Why are men showing their bodies in a sexy way almost always counted as Gay?
sexual objectification in that manner is culturally considered a feminine and submissive behaviour. Therefore a submissive man is feminine, therefore not masculine therefore homosexual.
Also calling such behaviour homosexual or "gay" as a pejorative is obviously due to being sexually threatened by such behaviour.
So pershing, what is so gay about a guy working with a bunch of women? I wouldn't mind being that guy. Also, why do you use gay in an insulting manner? Are you really still that ignorant.
I think it should be classed as a sport. I'm not interested in most sports as the point of the game eludes me. But, with all the danger and skill involved, mixed with girls in short skirts, I would tune in to the annual Cheerbowl if there was one.
"Is it a sport?" That's a really interesting question. As it's a mixture of dancing and gymnastics, it certainly could be, but extra safety would have to be considered as it causes so many accidents.
Thanks for the vid. I was the dance captain in HS and on the UNLV dance team. This year the UNLV dance coach is holding a reunion for the all the dance and cheerleaders. Maybe you would be interested in knowing more. I never new about the real name for Pom Pons till this video. I'm now 30 and this summer I'm trying out for the Laker girls because its something I've wanted to do since I was a kid. Its a sport! It is a lot of work and fun. I think it adds positive energy to working out.
whaaat! thats not underwear ... this whole time!!! pair of boy shorts?!!!? lollies?!?!! ahhhhhhhh damn the cheerleaders!!! damn them!!!!!!!!! i' been fooled!
Thanks for the history lesson on cheerleaders; College Girl. Now since you're into pop culture can you do one on strippers? Of course you'd be remiss if you didn't include a collage of photos of strippers in your video. lol
Now how come you didn't wear fishnet stockings? Just j/k I simply adore you. Thank goodness you don't have a paypal account because if you did I'd go bankrupt. ;-)
i think it would be historically accurate to give a nod to the oakland raiderettes along with the dallas cowboy cheerleaders as the leading proponents of sexuality in the professional cheerleading ranks. the difference between these two heralded squads would be akin to comparing playboy magazine to penthouse. the raiderettes went for a more raw, visceral sensuality and were far more multi enthnic in the early years when dallas was fostering the barbie doll look.
well after watching 2 hours of videos detailing the demise of our civilization, i'm grateful to simply look, leer, stare, ogle, and fixate on young curvaceous vixens whose bulbous behinds gyrate with a reckless abandon that makes me remember what makes america great. i'm also liking the mini-dress college girl is rockin.
sad thing is at games (professional, college, and high school) I only give the cheerleaders one clap but now I might reconsider since it is such a dangerous activity. I don't know maybe I should bump it to two claps since it takes so much dedication.
"could we please move on to something more important?"
If only 10 percent of the videos in my channel were "something important" that would would be 10 percent more than the mass majority of channels on YouTube. The fact is most of my videos are important.
These videos drive in new subscribers and generate more views. The new subscribers later watch "important videos" they might not have otherwise search for.
If cheerleading ever did become classified as a sport....Then it could be said that I like sports....Provided I didnt have to watch the other sports just to see it.
That was really really really good. If cheer leading is so dangerous it absolutely must qualify as a sport and it is unfair it it would not be. Gymnastics is something like it and it absolutely is a sport. Now I know why there are a line of guards shadowing the rear of the cheering troup. This is to keep them from getting injured, crippled or even well... the worst. Love the fantastic shows. Bring it on did it for the sport. Hats of to Jessica Bendinger.
It's not a sport just because of danger. Carpentry or crab fishing aren't sports, yet they are dangerous. Fighting in Iraq, or being a terrorist isn't a sport either.
Carpentry may not be a sport but tossing a cabre sure is. Crab Fishing isn't a sport but it could be. I ought to know. I was in the Bering. It was beyond insane. There just weren't gonna be any spectators. Fighting isn't a sport...... depends who you talk to. Piper the german tiger tank ace would have said it was. You gotta have spectators, you gotta have physical feats. Maybe the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders don't fit the bill. Maybe high school wolf wall builders do.
The modern, "sexy" female cheerleader was invented by Gussie Nell Davis at Kilgore College, Kilgore, TX in the 1940s. She organized the Rangerettes, who featured short skirts and high kicks. Then in 1947, Mildred Stringer organized the Apache Belles at Tyler Junior College, Tyler, TX, to give the Rangerettes some competition. The Belles also featured the long leggy look. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders got their inspiration from the Rangerettes and the Apache Belles.
I was hoping College Girl would remake this video and give the Rangerettes and the Apache Belles the credit they deserve. As a boy, more than 30 years ago, I used to watch the Rangerettes and the Apache Belles march in the annual Battle of Flowers parade in San Antonio. They were wonderful. Amazingly, the Rangerettes and the Belles both developed in the midst of Baptist territory. Who would have thought? Incidentally, Davis never liked the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. Too sexy, I guess.
I have noticed that woman actual look more attractive in clothes. Once you take off the clothing though; no matter how atomically appealing, my response is usually, " oh, not bad". But Its nothing to die for, or for that matter to put up with all the bullshit for. So, clothing on the skin is in actuality more 'stimulating' to me then the actual skin itself.
What do you mean it was actually invented by a dude? Why in the World would a woman see a need for a bunch of air headed bimbos distracting the crowd when a team is loosing, and making the crowd hard on with lots of 'rebal brutal yell' when the team is winning. ;)
I remember reading on yahoo that four of our presidents were cheerleaders. Does most of the debate about cheerleading being sport come from the fact that it's degrading to girls and pissed guys because they can't get a date with a cheerleader? Also is archetype the same thing as pop culture icon?

I think cheerleading should be more considered to be an art then a sport, because of the beauty the movement when they are dancing.

I think cheerleading should be considered a sport, since it takes a great deal of training and atheleticism to perform it.
It could be considered a performance sport like ice-skating.

Public schools do not want to make it a sport, because then they would have to share monies reserved for male sports, like football, with the girls.
So the girls keeping getting injured/crippled due to lack of safety equipment and professional coaches, as if they are expendable.

Cheerleading is also a sport because of the competetive nature of cheerleading sqads, as opposed to dancing which is considered more of an art.
